Pick 'Em Tag Teams

HBKperfect23

Championship Contender
Tag team wrestling has become a lost art in pro wrestling, but in the 80s it was a huge part of the WWF lineup. WCW/NWA also produced some pretty awesome teams. Pick the team you prefer. I tried to match them up as evenly as possible.

The Bulldogs or
The Roadwarriors

The Roadwarriors: Just barley, but going with the roadwarriors. My first favorite tag team

The Steiners: IMO the best tag team ever. Hardest one. Hated going against the harts

2 underdog tag teams. Ill go with the rockers because I prefer their style.

The Quebeccers carried tag team wrestling in 94.

Very hard but I prefer The Brain Busters. Arn/Tully werent as good on the mic but they didnt have to be since they were that good in the ring.

The Hollywood Blondes are my favorite wcw tag team of all time. What a gimmick.

The New Age Outlaws: I was shocked when they won the tag titles. Hated them until DX. Now I consider them one of my all time favorites.

The Rock and Roll Express: Porbably my favorite face WCW tag team. Always hated the hardyz.

Demolition: Ill go old school again. Never dug the hardcore style.

Owen Hart and The British Bulldog are the most underrated tag team ever IMO. Maybe top 5 on my all time list.

Money Inc: These guys just fit together and they could deliver in the ring

pretty cool thread idea

The Road Warriors- loved this tag team always will too they werent 7 foot guys but you still got the feeling they could kick just about anybodys ass! it was always such a rush (pun intended) to see these guys in a match.

The Hart Foundation- was never a huge fan of the steiner bros but bret and jim were a great team and they had a amazing fued with the rockers back in the day and bret being 1 of the best ever made this team amazing.

The Rockers- LOVED the rockers! without them we might not have ever gotten teams like the motor city machine guns or the hardy boyz and they worked so well together at the time they were doing things that nobody had seen before and it was pretty cool id still love a 1 night reunion from them.

The Quebeccers- good team worked well together and they usually put on good matches.

Edge and Christian- oh this was a no brainer for me edge and christian are my favorite team EVER the 5 second poses, the tlc matches the hilarious sketches together just a perfect team the only sad thing is they never got 1 more run with the tag titles once christian returned to wwe but still 1 of the greatest teams ever.

The Smoking Gunns- pretty good team and about the only time i cared about bart gunn when he was teaming with billy gunn they worked well together and billy helped make bart look talented when imo he isnt.

The New Age Outlaws- another 1 of my favorite teams ever they always got the crowd exicted for their upcoming match with their enterance and of course they were part of a great stable with DX road dogg and billy gunn were at their best teaming together.

The Hardyz- GREAT team they usually stole the show and i rember JR saying jeff hardy scared him back then because of all the crazy shit he did they were also always a great fan favorite team even after the attitude era and probably in my top 3 favorite teams ever.

The Dudleyz- in all honesty this might be the greatest team of all-time 23 time tag team champions they won tag titles in every company they worked in and of course the 3rd team in that great trio of TLC teams and granted it only happened in tna but both have now experienced sucess outside the tag team divison and i think there 1 of those teams that could reunite at any time and get a great response from the crowd.

i skipped the last 2 things because in all honesty i wasnt a fan of any of those teams or i just didnt rember them but this was a fun topic to post for.

The Roadwarriors - Their spiked shoulder pads are iconic and memorable, therefore they get the nod from me.

The Hart Foundation - Great name, great combination of power and technical wrestlers.

The Rockers - Exciting.

The Quebeccers - No comment.

Edge and Christian - They have had tremendous success in the WWE.

The Smoking Gunns - No comment.

The New Age Outlaws - New Age Outlaws helped define an era! Probably one of the best tag team intro themes ever.

The Hardyz - No question one of the most exciting and thrilling tag teams ever in the WWE.

The Dudleyz - Tag Team division in the WWE was at its peak when Dudleyz, Hardyz and E&C were in their prime battling it out for the titles. I'm Canadian and even I preferred Dudleyz and Hardyz over E & C!

Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit - Got to love a technical specialists team like this.

The Midnight Express - No comment.

Each bold one holds a higher place in my mind the then other. Ones like Hardyz, Dudleyz, and E&C are closer to my time and thats why I chose them. The others are based on how much I hear about them, or how many clips of them I have seen.

The Bulldogs or The Road Warriors: The Road Warriors - the reason being in my opinion they were more entertaining both in and out of the ring.

The Steiners or The Hart Foundation: This is a toughie because both teams were pretty equal in my opinion as far as entertainment and ability, but I would have to go with Steiners because if I were to see a reunion of either team if they were in their prime, I would pop for Steiners. I did when the reunited briefly in TNA.

Strike Force or The Rockers: Definitely Rockers. Strike Force never got over with me as far as anything, not to say they were not decent at what they did, but I am a mark for Shawn and Marty.

The Fabulous Rougeaus or The Quebeccers: Rougeaus. I always booed them but never really cared one way or the other for the Quebeccers.

The Brain Busters or Edge and Christian: Edge and Christian, hands down. Need I give a reason?

The Hollywood Blondes or The Smoking Gunns: Never really gave a hoot about either team, but because I liked Billy Gunn as a singles competitor and as part of DX/NAO, I say Gunns.

Harlem Heat or The New Age Outlaws: Oh you didn't know!!!

The Rock and Roll Express or The Hardyz: Hardys. Even to this day I don't see why people are so down on Matt - and TNA let him go because of a DUI bet kept Jeff after all his stuff? Not to say I don't love Jeff, but I think it's pretty hypocritical.

Demolition or The Dudleyz: Wow. This may be the toughest call to make. Ax and Smash were one of, if not my FAVORITE of all time, but then again so are the Dudley Boys. I think because of the longevity and the fact that they both still are relevant today, I would have to say Dudleys.

Owen Hart and The British Bulldog or Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit: Another hard call because both teams are spectacular, but I think Angle and Benoyt (purposely spelled that way ala Chris Jericho) have the edge to me here. I think had the Benoit tragedy not happened and he didn't turn out the way he did, he would still be wrestling today.

The Midnight Express or Money Inc: Money Inc. I love to hate a great heel team!

I want to add a couple of team myself.

Taker and Kane or Natural Disasters: Surprisingly I pick the Natural Disasters because I love to hate a good heel team, and I never really took a hold of the whole "brothers of destruction" story. Granted they made a great team but I value them more as singles competitors rather then a tag team.

Nikolai Volkoff and the Iron Sheik or Vitamin C (Chris Jericho and Christian.): I would go with Volkoff and Shiek. They were one of the ultimate heel teams back in the day, and I never really saw Jericho as a tag team competitor (though I marked out when him and Rock were a brief team) and Christian never really got over with me as a tag team partner after E&C.

Taker and Kane or Natural Disasters: Surprisingly I pick the Natural Disasters because I love to hate a good heel team, and I never really took a hold of the whole "brothers of destruction" story. Granted they made a great team but I value them more as singles competitors rather then a tag team.
Thats a good one. Id go with the Disasters. Like you said Kane/Taker are better singles wrestlers.

The Bulldogs or
The Roadwarriors : Warriors all the way.Bulldogs were LEGIT. These guys just looked plain scary and stood out to me more.

fitfinaly4life suggested this one:
The Steiners or
The Hart Foundation : Steiner Brothers. This is one team that should have never broken up, ever. They raised the bar which was already set pretty high at that time.

Strike Force or
The Rockers: Strike Force was awesome and ahead of their time. The Rockers were a poor mans rock and roll express and I just could never give a damn about them when they weren't in the title picture.

The Fabulous Rougous or
The Quebeccers:Rougous. Im not picking, both these teams rocked.

The Brain Busters or
Edge and Christian. Brain Busters! Two vets showing the young boys how to win titles and they had the best manager in the business. E and C were ok but they were made by the teams they fought, not the other way around.

The Hollywood Blondes or
The Smoking Gunns. Blondes all the way. They were the best part of WCW saturday night for a long time. I miss lady blosson. A lot.

Harlem Heat or
The New Age Outlaws. TIE. If I had to pick i'd give the edge to NAO.

The Rock and Roll Express or
The Hardyz. Rock and Roll express. Their timing was rediculous. They did stuff nobody else was doing at that time and didn't come off as 1 dimensional doing it.

Demolition or
The Dudleyz. TIE. I couldn't possibly pick one over the other.

Owen Hart and The British Bulldog or
Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. Owen and Davey. I didn't even know Angle and Benoit were a tag team.

The Midnight Express or
Money Inc: Aww damn really? How are you going to put a dude named Beautiful Bobby and his partner Sweet Stan and make me have to choose between them and a Millionaire and an IRS collection Agent named IRS. Edge.. Midnight express. Not only did they have Cornette and his tennis raquet but their theme was epic..epic i say.

Very good thread. Lots of memories and I had to make choices no wrestling fan should ever have to again.

I love these type of threads because well it just makes you think, especially when the choices aren't quite so clear one way or the other. Now for my answers.

The Bulldogs or
The Roadwarriors - While the Bulldogs we're awesome technical wrestlers, I'll go with the Roadwarriors because of their success rate and well I remember them as Leigon of Doom in 90-92 as being awesome.

fitfinaly4life suggested this one:
The Steiners or
The Hart Foundation - 2 awesome technical teams and it's hard to believe I've only found I think one match between them. That's probably because they worked for 2 different companies but my choice is going to the Hart Foundation. I haven't seen too much of the Steiners work in the NWA days.

Strike Force or
The Rockers - The Rockers all the way. I knw Strike Force won tag team titles and everything and was the first team I can think of that really had a great post feud after breaking up which set the mold pretty much for the Rockers and Morrison/Miz. The Rockers I just remember being more enjoyable in the ring.

The Fabulous Rougous or
The Quebeccers - Fabulous Rougous because I feel like they're the originators compared to the Quebeccers being the Mountie but doubled.

The Brain Busters or
Edge and Christian - Edge and Christian and that isn't any remote knock to the Brain Busters. It's just that Edge/Christian have done SO much and did SO well together. The Brain Busters in WWE while having a successful run, seemed to do their stint for a couple years before going back to WCW.

The Hollywood Blondes or
The Smoking Gunns - I was going to say Hollywood Blondes but that's more because of star power. My choice will go to the Smoking Gunns because after they finally found their nitch and then winning the services with Sunny they really skyrocketed.

Harlem Heat or
The New Age Outlaws - New Age Outlaws just because of the success they had during their attitude era and honestly I wasn't watching WCW when Heat was a team.

The Rock and Roll Express or
The Hardyz - From my understanding Rock & Roll Express were the one's who made the mold with their high flying type of tag team style. The Rockers did the same in the 90's. The Hardy Boys took that to just a whole new level. With so many unforgettable matches with the Dudley Boys/Edge & Christian, I loved the Hardy Boys. I'm sure if I was a little older and was able to catch Rock & Roll Express in NWA I'd be saying the same thing.

Demolition or
The Dudleyz - Another two teams who were very good at what they did. I was going to straight up pick Demolition but after thinking about it, it's a tie. Demolition was a great team as Ax/Smash whether they were heel or face and kept the tag belts for years. Then they added Crush and had a nice run as the 3 person team but then Ax left and well Smash and Crush weren't given I feel the proper chance to work with things. The Dudley's started off as a complete joke in ECW but once they lost the whole joke gimmick and became a bad ass team, whether it was in ECW/WWE/TNA they just won so many championships.

Owen Hart and The British Bulldog or
Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit - Owen/Bulldog not only because they are a good team but also because I wasn't really watching WWE when Angle/Beniot teamed.

The Midnight Express or
Money Inc - I'll go with Money Inc because I was a little too young to watch Midnight Express and sadly don't know too much about them.

The Rizz added these 4 teams to compare so I figured hell, the more the better.

Taker and Kane or Natural Disasters: Natural Disasters because I remember when Taker/Kane tagged together and it just never seemed real. It just seemed like they we're thrown together but not a true tag team like the other examples in this list. Natural Disasters I always loved too. What better way to continue Earthquakes some-what success then team him with a Tugboat.

Nikolai Volkoff and the Iron Sheik or Vitamin C (Chris Jericho and Christian.): Volkoff and the Sheik all the way. Wow what heat those two got in while teaming together. The wanna be russian and well Iron Sheik is just crazy but in a fun loveable way. Vitamin C always seemed like a less over Edge and Christian. Not saying Jericho and Christian weren't funny but it had seemed to me E & C had just happened and also E & C were much more successful.

The Roadwarriors - you gotta go LOD without a question. Bulldogs didnt have a chance in this match up. LOD best tag team of all time

The Steiners - one of the best if not the best technical wrestling tag teams ever. man they could wrestle. dont get me wrong Hart foundation was good two bret is one of the best.

The Rockers - they held their own in the time of big men

The Quebeccers - didnt like them cause they were heels but they held down the tag divison for a long time.

Edge and Christian - they reinvented the tag divison along with the Hary's. They have to be atleast in your top 10 atleast.

Smoking Gunns - I liked them they could wrestle and fan favorts. I didnt watch alot of the Hollywood Blonds. Thats pretty much the only reason.

Harlem Heat - they were huge. I thought there were very talented. And Booker T could do some high flying moves for his size. Dont get me wrong I liked Outlaws but really only when they were with DX for the most part.

The Hardyz - They to reinvented the tag divison. They re up there to inm the top 10 list of all time.

The Dudleyz - they had better careers then Demo. and they have better Longevity then anyother tag team and they are still relavent pretty much to this day. Also everyone one know The Demolition was the alternet verison of LOD when LOD was with another company. Again I did like them but tag status Dudleys not close.

Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit - they worked very well together. I know Bulldog and Owen were good to, but it seemed like them two were always being paired up with someone differnt every month.

Money Inc - they held the tag team divison up for a long time. They had feuds with everyone from single to tag wrestlers. They were the perfect fit for eachother.

My Top 10
The Roadwarriors
Edge and Christian
The Steiners
The Bulldogs
The Hardyz
Harlem Heat
The Dudleyz
Money Inc
The Rockers
Hart Foundation

The Bulldogs or The Road Warriors - Road Warriors. The best tag team of all time. Enough said. Tell 'em Hawk...

The Steiners or The Hart Foundation - Close, but I give it to the Hart Foundation. I liked the Steiners a lot, but I think the Hart Foundation was a great team that worked very well together in the ring and presented more of a tag-team image. Harts win after Jimmy Hart bashes Scotty in the head with the megaphone.

Strike Force or The Rockers - Gotta pick the Rockers. Martel and Santana are both great wrestlers, but I prefer them as singles competitors. The Rockers are a great tag team. Better chemistry and more appealing performance.

The Fabulous Rougeaus or The Quebeccers - Really? The Rougous here. Never was really a fan, but I thought they had was a better team presentation. Either way, Jacques Rougeau was a good performer.

The Brain Busters or Edge and Christian - Tough one here. I like Arn and Tully, but not in this incarnation. I'm a Horsemen fan. Edge and Christian were a very entertaining tag team both in and out of the ring... for the benefit of those with flash photography. I'd have to give them the nod, slightly.

The Hollywood Blondes or The Smoking Gunns - Hollywood Blondes. Austin and Pillman were singles guys who actually worked pretty well as a tag team. Smoking Gunns seemed too forced. On that, I have no further comment.

Harlem Heat or The New Age Outlaws - This is most difficult one of them all to pick. Both great tag teams. NAO is one of the best examples of two individual wrestlers joining forces and making it work. Hilarious characters that played well off each other. But Harlem Heat was a very good tag team as well, better skilled and more cohesive. In a squeaker, I'd pick Harlem Heat. Now can you dig that... sucka!

The Rock and Roll Express or The Hardyz - If you're talking presentation, Hardy Boyz. If you're talking overall wrestling skill, R&R Express. This one could very well be a draw, but if I have to pick a winner, it'd be the Hardy Boyz on pure athleticism.

Demolition or The Dudleyz - Dudleyz. Demolition is one of my favorite tag teams ever, but the Dudleyz are one of the best tag teams ever. No question.

Owen Hart and The British Bulldog or Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit - Owen and the Bulldog. Another example w/Angle and Benoit of two people forced to work together that may be good on their own, but never meshed well. Owen and the Bulldog are family

The Midnight Express or Money Inc - Midnight Express, only because of their legacy as a tag team. DiBiase and Rotunda worked very well together. Their characters suited one another. However, the Midnight Express was one solid overall theme... and a good one. Plus, they had the other "Mouth of the South" in their corner in Jim Cornette.

As an aside, I wish some other teams would have been included: The Freebirds (any two together), The Horsemen (any two together) and a few others.
