5 Top Contenders To Daniel Bryan's US Title!

Evan Bourne.

Evan Bourne is certainly a top contender to the secondary title on Monday Night Raw, he has been in the middle of a minor push lately. Having been featured in matches with; Edge, John Cena, Randy Orton and Jericho.

His role as a babyface with flashy and crowd pleasing move set has been used to help build up the main Raw heels before a PPV and has provided more exposure for Bourne.

I believe even though he and Daniel Bryan are both faces that they could still have a good feud with either of them playing more of a tweener type character. Either as the hunter of the title with Bourne wanting to prove his worth and win some WWE Gold and not caring who he goes through.

Or Bryan could have the trigger pulled on a fully blown heel turn and become a truly dominate US Champion.

Justin Gabriel.

Justin Gabriel one of the remaining five Nexus members also has a good move set and has shown some worth in the ring as a good performer. He also posses a great high flying finishing move.

I believe that he isn’t suited to be in a Nexus Tag Team and that Barrett will be around the title hunt still, so why not allow Gabriel to shine as a singles competitor and feud with Bryan for the US Title.

With Danielson’s history of leaving Nexus and returning at SummerSlam there is inbuilt history and would be a good face vs. heel title feud. And it would be great to see Nexus taken seriously by having ongoing WWE title, Tag Team and US Title feuds as well as continuing there WWE dominance ambitions.

John Morrison.

John Morrison has been stuck in a bit of a hole since being moved to WWE Raw he has been buried underneath the star heavy roster and has not been able to showcase his flashy move set or improve his mic skills.

Morrison has grown a heel beard and has shown slightly tweener style behaviour so we could a similar type of feud as with Evan Bourne and a Morrison heel turn could bring some real money to his character.

Danielson the face champion being hunted by Morrison who his jealous of his huge rise in WWE in just 7 months, it would be great add to their characters and improve their mic skills.

Ted DiBiase.

Ted DiBiase has also been buried underneath the star heavy roster and his Million Dollar Man and Belt gimmick just simply hasn’t clicked. Which is unfortunate as he had real potential after the split up of legacy.

Even with the addition of Maryse to spice up his character he still is in a wrestling rut. In the dark match of Night Of Champions DiBiase and Morrison took each other on and Maryse cost DiBiase the match and he accidently nailed her and not Morrison. So is there a split on the way I think it would help his character.

With the concentration on his in ring skill and the fact he his a rich heel chasing gold from Daniel Bryan the vegan indy star it could really help DiBiase’s character on Raw and it would be a great fued.

The Miz.

The Miz obviously has a rematch clause against Daniel Bryan and the 7 month back story is still in place for the continuation of their fued and what a pleasure it would be to see it go on for a few more matches.

The Miz has reason to be angry and will more than likely want vengeance for his title lose and it would help showcase his skills more building up to his Money In The Bank Briefcase cash-in sometime in the near future.

It also allows Danielson to prove he is a worthy champion to Miz and Michale Cole who constantly demote him. It would also be a good way to showcase Alex Riley more.

I'm going down the CM Punk route as well, as I'd just love to see them have a good feud for the U.S Championship, especially if it would be anything like this:

But Punk isn't the only one I'd like to see face him for the belt. Maybe a Chris Jericho feud, because they put on a good show on the first episode of NXT. But I don't really see that happening. But I could see him going against Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel, Ted Dibiase or John Morrison. Preferribly John Morrison out of the three, because a win over him would establish Bryan more imo.

I think it would make logical sense to pit DB against Sheamus to seek vengeance for his attack on him. They can feud and maybe Sheamus can put him over. After that, I'd like to see a feud between DB and Ted DiBiase. Really, I'd like to see DB feud with just about anyone in the midcard before squaring off with Punk. I've never seen their ROH work but if what people have been saying is true then it should be a great feud with great matches. Afterwards, I'd like DB to transition into main event status.

Punk is the best choice. Punk can put over stars and certainly Bryan. Plus, Bryan will get more pop than he is doing right now because Punk can draw a lot of heat. Punk is the best option.

Does anyone think a Punk vs. Bryan Best of 7 series (or best of 5) could really get both workers and the belt over.

Make the belt seem signifcant because both men are willing to go through 5 or 7 hard fought matches for the title, and both men will get over (not that they really need to) by putting on some of best matches we have seen in years.

Just My Opinion

^ They did that with Booker T and John Cena in the past for the US title. I don't see why they shouldn't do it again this time with Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. I think it'd greatly elevate the significance of the belt and restore some of its honour back. Both guys are great competitors and are more than capable of working near-classic matches. I just hope the WWE lets them go at it without taking too much away for the sake of overshadowing other matches. On that note, I also think CM Punk is the best for Daniel Bryan.

How epic would a feud between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan be? With the history these two guys have, as I understand it, in the indies and specifically in ROH, but in the big times this time around in front of an actual audience. The ultimate battle of good versus evil. And it could be a scenario whereby Punk continues the process of putting Daniel Bryan over, without making himself look weak in the process.

Eventually, I would love to see DBD feud with all of the guys listed, and then go beyond this into the main event where he will belong by then. But for now, after an excellent feud (for both guys) with the Miz, how beetter a way to follow this up than with a feud with CM Punk?

Now that Punk is on Raw, this feud is bound to happen. I'm not sure if they're going to do something with Sheamus or not but if they allow Bryan and Punk to go all out indy style, then you will have a match of the year, just what both wrestlers could use at the moment.

I picked "other" because Santino wasn't on the list.

I think him and Santino could have some good comic relief match ups during a dark match before a few pay-per-views.

Second Choice: Barry Horrowitz

Bryan and Punk are familiar with each others style and have worked in the past together. I believe that is one of the reasons that Punk was traded to Raw. It will reignite the fued they had in ROH and it will be impressive to watch, and hopefully do something for Bryans appeal to the nay-sayers.
