I wanted to start this thread for people to properly voice there opnions on Pete Rose and his banshiment from baseball. Here are some sub topics id like to get some feedback from

1. Compare him to others who are banned from baseball ( there crimes)

2. Is beting aganist your team a discrace

3. will he ever get in the HOF

4.If so how long will it be

5. Is his player stats enough to get him in if the banashment is lifted?

i think he should be let in with his player stats , but not as a manager.... i mean if bonds may get in then so should rose its just with all this steriod stuff in base ball i think its time for pete to be let in ....

6. If he does get let in should the blacksox also..( who should get in 1st.)

thanks guys for ur time ......:twocents:

Maybe 10 years ago the answer is no, but knowing now what has gone on in the MLB, Pete Rose deserves to be in the HOF. I always thought so, even before this steroid shit. Ban him as a manager, and dont include that in his induction, but his stats deserve to be there.
As for the Black Sox, its totally different. There is no evidence that he ever threw a game, or bet against his team. The Black Sox threw the world series. Big difference

Pete Rose claimed he only bet on his team, never against them. As long as that happened whats wrong with betting that your team would win? Did he rig games to make sure his team won? I could see it if he voted against them. I think he needs to be in the HOF.

As far as the Black Sox are concerned, Shoeless Joe hit the only home run in the world series, had a decent batting average, how can they keep him out? He maintained his innocence until he died. I think he was just lumped in with the group and was a big name scapegoat.

I think that they should both be in the HOF, considering that all the steroid freaks will get in eventually, McGwire, Bonds, Sosa, its sad to think that some of Baseballs greatest records are held by cheaters from the Steroids Era.

I think Rose should be in yes. But he has whined and complained for YEARS about how he should be in the HOF. He has been nothing more than a pathetic baby for many many years just sad. Pleading his innocence and saying i never bet on baseball ever! Then what does he do because he's so obsessed with seeing himself in the HOF that he will utterly make himself look like a fool to get in.. He then FINALLY admits he bet on baseball!!! What!? So many people supported him over the years and believed him because he pleaded his innocence for so long!!! To me he is a coward and i cannot and do not understand his obsession with himself being in the HOF.

Should he be in? Yes he was a great great player who worked hard every play. But boy you don't get in by crying about not being in lol.. it's a friggin game and it is not the end of the world because he is not in some kind of special club lol.

Pete Rose really sold out many of his fans and he would probably sell his soul and do whatever necessary just so he can one day selfishly go into the HOF. If he would have done the right thing at the start and admit he was gulity then and let his ACTIONS speak for them self he might have gotten in who knows. But he has lied for so long and then admitted to it just so he might be able to get in... This guy makes me angry lol.

Hes in the WWE Hall of Fame, isnt that enough? I thought he could no longer be in the MLB Hall of Fame because of the time hes been gone to the time to make the Hall of Fame. I think he should be in the hall of fame, its a tought call not letting him in though. What happens if Bonds, and Clemens cant make it. Best Hitter, Home Run Hitter, and one of the best pitchers? It would ruin the hall of fame. Gretzky, Super Mario and Roy are in the NHL Hall, Byrd, Jrdan and Abdul-Jabbar are in the Basketball Hall.

Yes, because MLB separates a player's career from that of a manager (which is why Joe Torre is in the MLB HOF twice)

As a manager, no way does Pete Rose get into Cooperstown. Gambling as a manager is, and rightfully so, a death sentence to a manager. However, there is no evidence that Pete Rose the player ever gambled on baseball, indeed, nor are there anyone even suggesting it. As a player, Pete Rose was one of the all time greatest players. If MLB didn't separate players from managers, then I would have to argue Rose shouldn't be in...but, since it does, Pete Rose the player is deserving. If MLB has two distinctions, and Rose only violated the rules under one of those, he should remain eligible for the other.
