Fuck erbody but me
I could have sworn it was the fact he was average in the ring and awful on the mic.
Uh. Neither of those things are true. Like, at all.

Yeah they are. He's an average power guy at best who is decent at best on the mic. His only good promo was a taped vignette right after his heel turn. Taped. Not live, but taped, where it can be done time and time again til it's good.Uh. Neither of those things are true. Like, at all.

Having Kofi Kingston return to feud with Ryback leading to his elevation to a WHC feud against whoever is holding it would be perfect, just saying.
Both are false and even if it was true Ryback is a monster who has a good look and charisma, he doesn't need good mic skills or being great in the ring.
The idea of Kofi Kingston even challenging for the World Heavyweight title is humorous.
I'm not saying creative didn't drop the ball, because they did, but even with them booking him correctly it would just delay the inevitable. He needed to stay as a powerhouse who said virtually nothing and just dominated. However, that kind of booking can't last forever. To be a top guy he was eventually going to have to do more and now that he has been forced to do more his weaknesses are showing. The only example of a guy consistently being able to say very little, dominate in the ring, and be a top guy is Goldberg. However, Goldberg was the exception not the rule. Ryback is ok in the ring as a power guy but he's nothing special. When it comes to his mic work he is just absolutely awful.
That's not entirely accurate lots of guys got mad over just going in there, destroying people and leaving, hell I just described 8 out of 10 monster heels that were main eventers. The truth is someone like Ryback needs to be consistently booked as a monster, it doesn't mean he has to win but he has to make it up if he does. Guys like Ryback liveable and die off of booking. If they're booked consistently strong they stay consistently strong, if they are booked poorly they're fucked. Ryback could have been big for a long time with simple, effective booking just based on his look, power and charisma. They are a rare breed but with some wrestlers that's all it takes.
But once again outside of Goldberg how many of these guys that are booked well can stay at the top consistently? If you have to rely solely on booking to be successful then you don't deserve to be on top. Booking plays a huge role but you have to bring something to the table yourself. No one has cared about Ryback for a while now and not all of that is on the booking. It's not like the guys career is over though. Mark Henry has gone from dominating heel to jobber and back again more times then I can count and these last couple years have been the best of his career. With Ryback's skill set he was destined to have an up and down career.
Ryback has plenty to bring to the table and what he brings is a lot of things other wrestlers can't, he has the look and charisma to be a big superstar, and also gets the job done in ring and on the mic, its nothing off the charts but with his marketability he has something others will never have.
