Passion

Getting Noticed By Management
Where to begin? Let's wind the clock back three years, I was watching Rob Van Dam vs. John Cena for the WWE title and One Night Stand in '06 and I was amazed at the behavior of the fans. They were so passionate about RVD and ECW, the I remembered back to the few times I was able to see ECW because of where I live and the thing that I like most was the passion the fans showed. I mean, if you look at WWE or TNA, the fans cheer and all that but it seems different. So my question is do you think that there's anything any of the promotions can do to inspire that kind of passion again and how?

I think alot of the passion came from getting one last 'old' ECW show and the fans ate it up. The ECW crowd though does seem to get very very into the show compared to WWE and TNA fans.

That was a sick PPV and it made me respect both John Cena and RVD tremendously after that match, that crowd was about to pull Cena's fucking head off they hated him so much. I loved them throwing Cena's shirt back all the time, they didn't want it :lmao:

Great crowd but with WWE aiming at a more kiddy audience they probably won't have that type of crowd involvement for a while.

Well, you can't use ONS 06 as an example. Why? Because there was only one kind of fan there, and very few of them packed in a smaller arena. Putting 2500 16-24 males does NOT make for good business. Sure, the crowd is hot, but so what? You're not making money off it. Throw in the fact that those fans were idiots, and the WWE has no desire to attract fans like that.

As far as getting crowd heat back to like it used to be, there's really only one way. Convince fans that wrestling is real, and make the fans truly believe the action is real. Outside of that, it's not likely anytime soon.

Sorry but i must disagree.... Not making any money off these ''idiots'' you say? Isn't The Rise and Fall of ECW one of the best selling WWE DVD's of all time?!? I'm sure these idiots had a hand in that.

Both One Night Stand events(in 2005 and 2006) were critical and comercial successes. The crowd were unbelieavably passionate and vocal and it was reminiscint of back in 98 and 99 when wrestling was used to getting big pops on a weekly basis.

It saddens me 2 say that we'll most likely not be hearing crowds like that again for ages to come. For the record my favourite crowds are in no particular order; Toronto,Chicago,Montreal, Philly and New York. These are the crowds that make me feel okay about parting with my cash!!

Well, two things.

1) They're idiots because they buy Rise and Fall of ECW and think they're now hardcore original ECW fans.

2) They're idiots because they don't have the first clue about wrestling.

The second one was more of what I was going for. They're idiots, not because of their money spending habits, but rather they wouldn't know good wrestling if it jumped up and bit them in the ass.

Actually, there was one difference.

Wrestlemania 15 drew 20,000+ people. Wrestlemania 17 drew 60,000+ people. And, just so you can't say I'm only using Wrestlemania, Backlash 200 drew 18,000 people.

One Night Stand 05 and 06 drew 2500 people.

Do you now see the major difference?

Except those crowds, for the most part, are idiots. They're fans who don't understand the first thing about wrestling, but feel like, since they watched wrestling in the Attitude Era, they're cool because they boo faces and cheer heels. They're idiots. I have no use for fans like them.

I'd rather have wrestling fans who actually respect the business and the workers, and don't put themselves above the show.
