Overlooked Legend

Taker is definitely along the names of Bret, Hogan, Michaels.

Ive compared his legendary status to that one of Andre the Giant. He is a phenom in every aspect of the word.

He's a mans man.

I just think that he hasnt been seen as The Worlds Greatest Wrestling Superstar because I consider him laid back and even a bit humble about it.

Sure he's a big name, but he's never come out every Monday night with a mic and ramble for half an hour about how great he is like Michaels, Bret, and Hogan used to do in the 90's. It comes to a point that they nail that thought in the brains of the fans that its literally stuck in their minds for the rest of their lives.

Please try to avoid the debate over Austin's drawing power, or at least make a new thread about it. Stay on topic please.

Over looked? Hardly. Everyone respects the Undertaker. Theres no way you cant say he's a Legend and one of the all time greats in the industry.

The Undertaker an overlooked legend? That's ridiculous. He's one of the only wrestlers who escapes any criticism. Not many people dislike The Undertaker. The same can't be said for may of the other gigger stars.

No doubt the Undertaker is a legend. Superstars have been in and out, but Taker has been with the WWE solidly for a long time. KB mentioned some of his accomplishments, but even those really don't do justice to him.

Taker is a man who can take a Superstar and give him instant credibility. Take Jeff Hardy for example. When Jeff faced Taker in their ladder match for the Undisputed title, hardly anyone figured he would ever hold the title. Taker made Jeff look very good in that match. He's also done it to many other Superstars over the years.

Another thing is that there really is nothing like Taker's entrance. The very second you hear the gong go off, it's just awesome. I saw it once at a house show and I seriously got chills. He plays his gimmick very well. Many accuse his walk during his entrance of being slow, but in my mind, it fits him. A slow, menacing walk and then the removal of the hat. A lot of WWE superstars have tried the supernatural gimmick, most recently being Boogyman, but none of them could even come close to pulling it off as Taker.

The last couple of years, his career has not been the best. He's had a few forgettable feuds and even a couple of bad ones. He's had numerous injuries and has missed a lot of time, but still in his prime Taker was probably one of the top 20 WWE stars of all time. Maybe even top 10

After being a wrestling fan for my entire childhood (I'm 25) I stopped watching for the most part shortly after the Invasion and have been watching again since around WrestleMania 25.

Just the fact that the Undertaker is still going is impressive. To me the thing that should give him legendary status is his undefeated streak at WrestleManias. The other thing that is very impressive about him is how he has pretty much made 2 careers. It was largely his gimmick as the Undertakers brother that got Kane over and getting thrown off of the hell in a cell was the best thing that ever happened to Mick Foley.
