[Official] X Marks the Spot: Xfearbefore Xclusive Thread

Jigga WHAT? Murfish? What's good man? What the hell are you doing on here? Don't you have drug parties and box socials to attend?

Not much. I just wanted to see what this place was like now. I actually left vtech. I'm headed to rutgers next. How have you been? Also...ever listened to Boards of Canada? I just found out about them.

I've been up to my usual thing man. Started reviewing wrestling in full besides just rating matches and haven't looked back since. Yes I have heard of Boards of Canada, they are awesome and Music Has the Right to Children is a straight up masterpiece.

Very good, man. And yeah, I'm really digging boards. It's not really like most of the stuff I listen to. One can only listen to so much rap, alternative, and grimey house music. Have you checked out Odd Future? Those guys are gonna be big.

Yeah BoC is a group that doesn't make music so much as they make soundscapes. I know that sounds really, really lame but it's the only description I can think of to describe their music. If you like BoC you should definitely check out Shpongle. Great band, similar kind of music.

BoC, you brosefs warm my electronic heart.

Aye aye mate. Do you ever use Sputnik Music SSC? You'd like it there.

X you like the Loved Ones?

They just came up on my Pandora and I was wondering if their stuff was worth dling.

For once I can't say I've ever heard of 'em.

I've been digging the new EP that Broken Bells (Danger Mouse + lead singer of The Shins) put out all day though. Had this stuck in my head:

That is so good.

OH SHIT? Seriously?! That's fucking awesome! Moxley is a great talent, he's a good worker and he's absolutely PHENOMENAL on the mic as a heel, he's almost like a seedy, immoral version of CM Punk in that he's so good on the stick and is/was all over the indies.

That's awesome news. I hope they use him correctly, because he is incredible. With him, Tyler Black, Mistico and others the WWE has a ton of great new young talent on their hands these days.

Don't forget Richie Steamboat in that sentence X. The man's been having good matches on a regular basis since he was hired. Especially with Tyler Black.

Hint: Look up their "FCW 15" matches on youtube.

That is awesome about Moxley. I always thought his mic work was light years ahead of his in-ring work, and that he wrestled a WWE style already. Awesome signing for WWE.

Did you catch the ROH shows from this weekend, X? I read the LDs and results, probably gonna order them on Wednesday or Thursday.

Hey X. Are you from Tennessee?

Wut....? No silly bear, I'm from Rhode Island.

It's weird, I have access to FCW every week but I just don't watch it for one reason or another. Last FCW match I probably watched was Danielson vs. Kaval right before Danielson debuted on NXT. Maybe I should start watching. I heard Richie was doing some good work with Tyler though.

I've got both of the shows on hand, but haven't watched them yet. Hopefully I'll watch and review them over the next few days, but I heard lots of good things from The Bearded One and other sites. I'll definitely let you know what I thought when I watch 'em.

Crossing my fingers that Larry Csonka will actually read my fucking e-mail this time and I might finally get that open review spot on 411. Kudos to Mike Campbell for letting me know they were looking for new spots.

That's odd...you're the only ten I see.

Oh you. I'm blushing. In several places...

And as soon as I wrote that comment about 411mania, Larry emailed me back and offered me the spot. Sweet, looks like I'll be posting reviews over at 411mania now too.

:lmao:

You fuckin' remember Aries Harthan?! You rock. You rock hard.

I was wondering how long it would be before I had my own. TM you covered most of my favorites; but you're forgetting alcohol, punk rock, gangsta rap and Terry motherfucking Funk.

And Eva. 4 Life.

He also forgot this

That's putting it mildly. They're having regular 15 minute matches (regular by FCW standards at least) at the moment and they've worked together a LOT since he was first signed. I'd be shocked if their matches weren't awesome. If you're going to start watching with the most recent episode (which isn't on youtube yet), which I'd reccomend because it's one of the episodes where Richie and Black (or Seth Rollins, as he's called in FCW, and I'll be calling him for the rest of this post) get 15 minutes to go nuts. In the spoiler is a bunch of information to get you up to speed on what's going on in Vinny Mac's developmental playground.

Lucky Cannon is the Flordia Heavyweight Champion, feuding with "former friend" Bo Rotundo (son of IRS, and Husky Harris' little brother), who won and lost the FCW title in the came night from Mason Ryan and to Lucky Cannon. Cannon's playing a prettyboy heel character (the same one he's using on NXT, if you watch that) and is managed by Maxine from NXT3 (who's using her charisma to make up for Cannon's lack thereof). He's currently got a stable consisting of Aksana (another reject from FCW3, who's got the shitty title of "Queen of FCW", which has been meaningless since the FCW Divas' championship was made) and Brett DiBiase (Ted's Brother). This is fairly OK, but the "stars" of the angle are pretty plain and unspectacular. Bo's pretty good, but has sadly traded his kickass finisher (a double underhook sitout gourdbuster) for a spear that manages to be worse than Edge's.

However, the midcard's where it's at. The closest thing to a midcard championship that FCW's got is a medal that makes the holder the "FCW 15" champion. In short, this title is defended in one match type which the 15 minute ironman match. Currently Rollins and Steamboat are feuding (somewhat) over the medal, as Richie actually beat Rollins in the tournament to crown the first FCW 15 champion (but because the tournament itself was fought under "Rhodes Round Robin" rules, Seth's got the title. After their rematch, which ended in a 0-0 draw Richie superkicked the crap out of Rollins leading to Rollins challenging him to another match on the show that aired yesterday. Other than the superkick they've been as close as it's possible to be to "friendly rivals" despite Richie clearly wanting the medal.

Also, they were made Tag team champions at a live event. FCW episides are taped in threes so they aren't champs on TV yet, but they will be next week. The former champs were Titus O'Neil and Damian Sandow (Idol Stevens). Nothing much else to say, other than two Samoan cousins are also in the division and are probably going to win the belts soon enough after Richie's ambition/goldlust get in the way of the team.

The divas' division is shit. AJ is the FCW divas champion and I believe she's a heel in the process of turning face. She's feuding with Vickie and Eddie's daughter Shaul (aka Raquel Diaz). Aksana is the "Queen of FCW" (a meaningless title if ever there was one), which was once held by Serena (or Mia Mancini, as she spent a lot of time being called during that reign) but has been meaningless since the divas' championship was made. She's heel and associated with Lucky Cannon.

Other guys you should be looking out for if you decide to keep watching FCW are Bobby Dutch (who's a pretty darn effective heel), Abraham Washington (yeah, the former chatshow host is actually damn charismatic and okish in the ring), Brad Maddox (charismatic and well above average, especially by FCW standards), Hunico (you may have seen him before under the name of Incognito), Tito Colon (who like his cousins is solid. He occasionally performs as "Epico", the tag team partner of Hunico), Xavier Woods (Consiquennces Creed from TNA), Leo Kruger (who's from South Africa and trained with Justin Gabriel. He's been wrestling for about as long as DBD, and just returned from a neck injury), Jinder Mahal (he plays the "foreign heel" to perfection and mark my words, he will be a big star in the not too distant future) and Peter Orlov (Who you probably know as Alex Kozlov).

So yeah, that's pretty much everything anyone could want to know about FCW before actually watching it.

and congrats on the spot on 411mania.

Yes siree, PRIDE was what got me into MMA in the first place I want to say back in 2006, the local Comcast/Fox Sports channel would play older events every week and I used to love watching Fedor and Mirko tear through people with ease. I was so bummed when they got bought up by UFC, it's why I stopped watching MMA for probably two years after that. Got back into it around UFC 100 and have been casually following the sport on and off since, usually checking out the UFC PPV main events, but lately I've come to really enjoy a good fight and have been watching a ton of old PRIDE, UFC, and Pancrase events along with some old UWFi shoot stuff I had lying around, trying to immerse myself back into the sport so I can sound knowledgeable when discussing it with guys like yourself and JMT.

But yeah, PRIDE will always be my favorite MMA organization. It helps having Bas Rutten on commentary, obviously. Being a big puro guy it makes sense why I was so drawn to PRIDE.

To be perfectly honest, brother, you sound just fine when discussing it. Guys like myself and JMT have spent YEARS on the sport. It just comes with time. That's why I never take part in the "confidence" games they play. I think confidence picks are rather stupid.

You have 11 fights on the card and you can pretty much figure it out for the most part. But here's where I hate it, I belong to a fantasy MMA site, I have for the past 4 years, and we do picks for every fight on every UFC card. Even the BEST players on that site don't average more than 68% for their career. It keeps track of your career total, as in EVERY FIGHT from EVERY EVENT you've played since joining, and gives you a career pick percentage. I've been there four years and I'm right at 60%.

Confidence is bullshit, because you'll have 3-4 fights on a card where you know absolutely NOTHING about those fighters. Sure, you can look them up on Sherdog's Fighter Database and check out their wins and losses, you may even be able to find some highlight reels and fights on YouTube so you can gauge what kind of fighter they're going to be, but until you see them in the octagon, you really have no fucking clue. You cannot be confident about picking that fight over some others.

I went 10-2 at Jones vs. Shogun. I could have sworn up and down that Lentz was going to grind out Lowe like he has everyone else, oops. Most of my fight camp on the fantasy site said the SAME thing. We all got it wrong.

Hey X, with your re-found love for MMA, I thought I'd try to get you to check out a little kickboxing, which is every bit at entertaining as MMA (usually much better, to be honest).

My favorite Kickboxer, who I believe is truly the baddest man on the planet, is Badr Hari. Check out this tribute to him below. I think you'll end up digging him as much as I do.

After a year long lay-off, he makes his comeback fight May 14th. It will be epic.

Also, you better be rooting for Nick Diaz, Crusher, and Shinya Aoki this weekend for Strikeforce's show. ;)

Mothafucker it's your birthday? Happy birthday dude! Have a great day! Or, as great a day as possible when you live in Rhode Island.
