Well, let's not go that far. There has been talk of people who were around who felt that he really might kill himself on TV during that angle.
Russo is the best ever at capitalizing on real life events, but sometimes you have to wonder the cost. Look at TNA right now. All of those guys have legit real heat with someone else. That could very well blow up in his (and Dixie's) face.
On a related note. I would love to explode on Dixie's face too.
Yo X, was that shhow in Lexington?
Wrestling needs more suicide angles.
I have no idea why I didn't go.
My best friend (the guy that told me about this place and who has forgotten more old school and wrestling than I could ever know) at the time's dad worked at Rupp Arena and could pull us tickets before the box office opened.
Yeah, that's the one thing that I totally understand why everyone had a problem with it. They should NEVER have done that angle with someone who actually was having drug and personal problems, that's just cruel and unusual. But I fucking loved the angle itself, it showed a man who had always been like a myth and a childhood hero to the fans in a new light, showed that he wasn't superhuman and that wrestlers were people too and just like every day people they succumb to personal demons sometimes. That's what I've always liked about Russo, he presents the product in a much more adult way, his faces and heels all have shades of grey and personal problems, and it makes them more realistic and just better. Real people aren't always good and evil like faces and heels are, they're much more complex than that. Say what you will about Russo and his Shock TV, the man wrote a better product for ADULTS than any other wrestling writer in history. He was a pretty shit booker though, and there is a difference between the two.
I'm right with ya buddy, right with ya. I'd like Dixie to give me a nice reverse cowgirl ride.

See, this right here, this is the shit I was talking about when I said it took us to places we can never come back from. Especially the bolded part, how the FUCK can that be seen as a good thing?
It basically just tears down and shits all over what wrestling is all about.
Hey lets try to take something fun and escapist and make it as depressing and shitty as real life, yea thats a fucking fantastic idea. Shit like that is why I hate the attitude era with such passion.
They are SUPPOSED to be heroes. They are SUPPOSED to not be every day people. Its a fantasy, a fun show, an escape from real life. Thats the whole fucking point.
So, because of my economic situation I guess for the moment I'm taking a break from smoking. Cigarettes that is. Been nearly 24 hours now since my last cigarette, and I do believe I'm beginning to feel the intense desire for one. Screw it, maybe I should just quit.
$5.25 for a pack homie, and I consider that expensive.
