Ah good, so it's not just me trying to make sense of it.

No. Paul Heyman is quite the overrated booker. He was brilliant when it came to coming up with characters and angles, but the actual booking itself was never very good. Like a few others have said though, alot of people consider ECW's best stuff to be their pre-PPV days and I'd be inclined to agree with them.

That's what I've heard about ECW as well and that's the point I'm trying to get over in the reviews: for a local company this would have kicked all kinds of ass. For a national company, it was doomed from the moment Barely Legal came on the air.

And that's what killed them. Heyman wanted everything too quickly, he wanted them to compete head to head way before they were ready to and he spread them thin by spending all kinds of money he didn't have to try and compete against Vince and Bischoff. That's what killed ECW, not the product, Heyman's reach. It far exceeded his grasp.

I don't even know if I'd say that. Best example I can give you: Sabu vs. Taz. "It's the grudge match of the century. They've been feuding for two years. They hate each other."

Question: WHY DO THEY HATE EACH OTHER??? To this day I still have no idea why they were feuding because no one ever explained it. Who was the face? Who was the heel? Have they fought before? Do they have a long history? None of this was ever answered. And yeah I know sometimes you don't need to know, but on one of the featured matches, it might be a good thing to point out.

Now RVDgurl and you have both said that ECW ran stories for llong periods of time and the fans would have known. Only problem is there were A TON of people that had never heard of people and a lot of them that bought this show likely had no clue what was going on. That's where this truly fell apart to me.

It was a work shoot. They were tag partners, and then Sabu left ECW for Japan. Taz swore to get revenge. When Sabu returned, Taz repeatedly called him out, but Sabu would never show, until this:

And Barely Legal was finally the time for them to square off. Sabu was face, Taz was heel, and then they both turned at the end of the match.

Nosferatu, the original, is fucking creepy. Just an unnerving film. Less than Zero is a fucking insult to the great novel and just one of the worst adaptations I've ever seen, outside of a great performance by Robert Downey. I've never seen You, the Living.
