[Official] X Marks the Spot: Xfearbefore Xclusive Thread

Thanks! I will be sure to check out that match and let you know what I think. Is PWG the same idea as ROH? I've heard of it but never seen anything from them. I am intrigued since Kenny Omega is their champ. I liked him the couple of times I've seen him in ROH. Is he face or heel? I couldn't tell from the teaser...

Alcohol is your enemy CM, when it leads to shit like that.

But I had a great time.
I know I probably should stop talking to her but can't even though I know she has other guys after her. Although we're just friends now that kiss in the mouth & hopefully more

I think I just found one of my favorite memes. The Joseph Ducreux meme:

Alright, X. I recently discovered Marcy Playground.

This , along with some other bands, made me realize the '00 is shit compared to the 90's in terms of music.

X tell me about Kobashi and Kawada please. I found a 4 disc torrent on the best of Kobashi vs. Kawada...but I'm not sure if I should download it. I know Kobashi is great and all but I don't know about Kawada.

I also found a ppv pack for the NWA from 1983 to 1990 (something KB would probably be interested in since it includes Starrcade), do you think that's worth downloading? I've always wanted to see GAB 89 (I think it's that one) because a few old school posters have said it's one of the best ppv's ever.

And lastly, I might consider entering the reviewing ppv business starting with Starrcade. I was going to review every HIAC at one point but I've seen them all so it wasn't that fun getting to watch some matches for the 2nd and others for the third times. But if I decide to review shows I've never seen such as Starrcade (I've seen a couple matches that took place in Starrcade but never a full show) or GAB then I think I would stick to it since it's something I would be watching for the first time.

What do you think?

Kawada is fucking amazing my good man, he's another one of the legends of Japanese wrestling. His matches with Kobashi, Misawa, and many others are great. I mean, in my opinion, and the pretty much generally accepted order of greatest workers in Japan of the last 20 years, it goes 1. Misawa, 2. Kobashi, and 3. Kawada.

Absolutely download it man, if you liked the stuff I was showing you with Kobashi and Misawa, you're going to love it man. Those two really just could NOT have a bad match together.

Alot of those events may be edited, so be forewarned because the VHS releases of those PPVs were always cut to shit for some reason that has angered wrestling fans for decades. It's still worth watching them though because they'll usually include a few full matches but they'll cut out some altogether.

Absolutely watch GAB 89 though, that is just a FUN and great event from start to finish. Really dude you can't go wrong with ANY of the NWA/WCW events from 1989 ST, that was the same year of the incredibly Ricky Steamboat-Ric Flair rivalry, as well as the legendary Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk feud. Have you ever seen any of the Stamboat-Flair classics or the Funk/Flair ones?

I think it's an awesome idea bud and I'd love to see you do it. I wish I had the patience to sit there and write up a full review of a show. Go for it dude.

I'll probably do some kind of review for the ROH DVD collection I've begun amassing. I just got and watched Unified. What did you think about the match, X? I thought it was pretty good. I had high expectations and it met them. Danielson did a good job playing the heel for that match but not ruining his top face status for when they returned home

Very good match, not five star material like some people claim, but very good. I think I had it rated around four stars if not more if I remember correctly.

Hell yeah, there's a DVD review thread in the ROH section Thriller, go for it. I just made a thread about the famous Joe vs. Kobashi match there if you want to give your thoughts on that mach as well, have you seen it?

I have not, but I will be sure to check it out, if for no other reason than to chime in with my opinion. I've gotten really into ROH in the past year and I love it now. I have probably bought around 10 DVDs, when prior to last year I owned exactly 0 wrestling DVDs. I bought 4 over Christmas when they had about 85% of them for $10

Yeah you pretty much can't go wrong with most of their events from like 04-08. They aren't quite as good as they used to be but they still have some solid wrestling. I've been paying more attention to Dragon Gate USA lately, which incase you didn't know is the new promotion that Gabe Sapolsky (booker of ROH until earlier this year) opened. They've already aired two PPVs, both of which are freaking awesome.

I've heard of them, I actually considered going to their second ever show in Chicago earlier this year but ended up going to SmackDown instead. The newest ROH stuff I have is Final Battle 08, All-Star IV the night before FB08, and Injustice II. I also have the first Dragon Gate Challenge, Unified, Survival of the Fittest, The Era of Honor Begins, one of the Matt Hardy shows, and one or two others.

I'll definitely be downloading this now. I really enjoyed the Kobashi/Misawa matches I saw and if Kawada/Kobashi is anything like it then I'm sure I'll love it.

Hopefully they didn't edit it too much.

I've never seen any of the Flair/Funk classics but I've been meaning to. As far as Steamboat/Flair, I've seen the Chi-Town Rumble match they had and I think there's another one I saw with them, I don't remember the event though.

I think it's an awesome idea bud and I'd love to see you do it. I wish I had the patience to sit there and write up a full review of a show. Go for it dude.

Thanks. I plan on doing this later on in the year. First, I have to buy either external or internal memory to keep all the wrestling in them since there's a lot of shows I plan on downloading. Aside from reviewing the 1983-1990 NWA ppv's, there are also some individual shows I found such as the a WCW/New Japan Supershow from 1992 and 1993. Also, there's WCW Capital Combat '90

There's also TNA ppv's from either 2002-2009 or 2004-2008 (That would take a LONG time but I'm willing to do it during the summer since I'll have a lot of time on my hands unless I do some traveling.) I have an aunt that works for the military (I'm not quite sure what her job title is) and they have to move to Germany for at least two years so we might go visit them during the Summer. If we do go then we'll be traveling around Europe a little.

I'm so excited. I can't wait until I begin this.

Also X, I've read post by you and you've given Dragon Gate positive reviews. Have you seen Dragon Gate - THE FINAL GATE 2009? There is another show I found called Dragon Gate "THE GATE OF GENERATION" but I think both of them are the same. Anyways, do you recommend I watch it?

X, what is up man? Haven't talked in ages. Congrats to your Pats on getting into the playoffs, but the lost of Welker could be huge. I think Edelman will step up, but he is no Wes. You think you guys will be alright without Wesley Welker?

Go read my post in the TNA aftermath thread. You will disagree with some of it, agree with some of it, but mostly admire it's 43,339 character greatness.

Only just barely Thriller. Only just barely.

It was a vicious battle. Many comrades fell. Too many.

In reality, how bad was it? Oh and apparently Dragon had a dark match at Raw. I'm fucking pumped about that.

You and KB raised the intelligence of that thread about 40 IQ points. You two are ridiculous

Wasn't too bad actually, just did alot of deleting and infractin'. And yeah I heard about Danielson's match, can't wait to see him debut.

Awesome post FTS. KB was being far FAR too critical of that show. Like, FAR too critical.

It's bullshit. Everyone's allowed to mark out for a middle aged Bret Hart and HBK in the ring but if we're marking out over the middle aged wrestlers in TNA, now we're just being silly!

I kinda thought I was being too positive, but other than a couple of small things, there was nothing that I didn't I like about that show last night.

I wasn't watching it for the wrestling, although, they threw us a giant Brontosaurus bone with that AJ match. I was watching for the shocks and surprises, and got plenty of those. I wish I hadn't read the post about Hardy or seen the ad during UFC, but that still didn't spoil it for me.
