To be honest, I'm not even perfectly clear on what the hell a producer actually DOES.

In hip hop the producer comes up with all of the music. The rapper comes up with the lyrics, the producer comes up with the actual music. Very, very important job obviously.

In rock it's much different obviously.

Just because he's from Chi Town don't mean shit to me, hell a lot of artists from Chi Town are shit, Twista used to be good until he became a love song singing little bitch, Do Or Die ain't bad but they ride on Twista's jock like no other. Common's old music was absolutely fantastic, now he makes club hits. Only artist/group from Chi Town that I really really really really like is Crucial Conflict.
