[Official] X Marks the Spot: Xfearbefore Xclusive Thread

I was reading a few quotes from the book Walden. Was the guy a firm believer in Utopia's or am I just delusional?

Not really, he wasn't very preoccupied with the idea of a Utopia for everyone, more along the lines of every man finding his own personal Utopia.

Glad to see my history/literature lesson has piqued your interest in Thoreau. Civil Disobedience is probably the most important piece of writing of the last two hundred years.

Am I the only one that thinks Bud Light is piss water? It's always at the parties I go to, and I always die a little on the inside when I see that blue box.

Ha, nah you aren't the only one man. I wouldn't call it piss water, but it's basically like water. Everyone knows Bud Light is the party mainstay, because it's relatively cheap, is a recognizable name, and women can drink a shitload of it, thus multiplying everyone at the party's chances of getting laid.

I don't mind Bud Light. It's not quality beer, but I drank so much of it back in high school that I could probably put away an entire thirty rack and be able to drive home :lmao:

Razor I love your Batman & Philosophy threads. But I'm still an amateur in the field of Batman comics. I've read Year One, Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke, and The Long Halloween (which was definitely my favorite), that's about it thus far. Any other big titles I need to check out? Batman comics are definitely the easiest to get into. I'm a fan of X-Men as well because of the whole mutant allegory.

Seriously. I hate the shit. But it's not like I'm spending my money for the booze. I give the dude a few bucks, sure. But not enough to be complaining to him.

..Still. Bud Light is shit.

Just as a side note, you don't have to a legit expert on Batman or anything to get the jist of the thread. It really only ever uses the ones you've read plus Arkham Asylum, which I'm recommending to you now.

You should really check out Arkham Asylum. That book is one fucked up graphic novel of awesome. Seriously. It'll play with your head. And all of the symbolic undertones will leave you interpreting it for days.

I would also recommend the No Man's Land series. It's about Gotham after being ravaged by a earthquake. Let's just say that someone lets the criminals out of Arkham and Lex Luthor denies federal aid to Gotham. Batman has to essentially take back the city via gang warfare. It's separated into issues, and you should be able to find actual Volumes I-V, with a separate paperback novel that focuses on Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, the GCPD, and Batman. It sorta expounds on a few points not in the comics and cuts out Superman/Azrael. I really, really liked this novel also. I know No Man's Land isn't as singular as a graphic novel, but I'll be damned if it isn't good.

As far as the others....you've covered the main ones I would recommend. After these it gets into Hush Volumes 1 & 2, A Death In the Family, and Batman: The Cult. There are many others out there, but these are the ones I like the most. Specifically read A Death in the Family if you have to pick one, because that has a lot to do with Batman's psyche in later books.

It's just tasteless to me. It's literally like drinking water.

Wow, I feel stupid, I totally forgot that I've read Arkham Asylum as well. Very dark, loved it. I really like the darker series'.

Damn, that sounds really good. I'm going to have to get that. Amazon, here I come.

Hush is on my radar, so is Knightfall. I'm thinking I'm going to have to read Knightfall next. Well, after No Man's Land.

Yeah. It's fucking creeptastic. I literally felt bad reading it. Like the scene with Dr. Arkham and his mom...beetles dude. Beetles.

Yeah. There are Volumes I-V, and a novel that sorta comes from a different viewpoint. It focuses more on the villains, and cuts out a few characters (Azrael and Superman) so as to focus on the villains more. The gang warfare really adds a new depth.

Just make sure you read "A Death in the Family." There is also a ultra DC crossover named "Final Crisis," in which the major superheroes race to save the world from Apokolips in a 7-issue story arc. Spoiler for what happens:

Fucking Batman dies in the story arc, and so now Grayson has taken up the Batman mantle as of "Battle for the Cowl" and on.

You bastard. You knew my only weakness...spoiler tags.

Her siren call gets me every time. Fuck you spoiler tags.

God damn, X I was playin Madden against the Packers of all teams. I came up 2 yards short to breaking the single game record with Peterson. Ironically would have been breaking his own record. I"m severely disappointed.

Hey X and everyone who wants to, can you go post in my new thread in the Cigar Lounge?

i was just reading about that in the course book I got on Principles of Marketing. I don't know if it makes sense or not, because to me, everything i write is coherent and sensible, even though it, in reality, is pure and utter shit. If you want, I can edit. It's cool with me.

I hate it, dude. It's piss water.

It definately isn't the most luxurious beverage one could buy, but it does what it is supposed to do. I drank alot of it in high school, so I guess I am immune to the taste. My favorite beer is Miller Genuine Draft.

I'm not being high and mighty, thinking that Bud Light is below me or anything. Bud Light is shit. I know it's there to get me drunk, and it does that. But still. I'd rather not drink something so shitty.

This. I have a theory that bud Light MIGHT be piss.

Here ya go, Steve. Now you just need to get your fellow Puerto Ricans to actually become a state, and you're set. :lmao:

Thanks for posting.

Anyone else want to post their opinions?

I wasn't trying to imply that you held yourself to better standards than others. I simply meant that, for a party drink, what more could you ask for? I agree that it is shitty and I wouldn't buy it if it was the last beer on earth, but at a party, with free drinks, I will drink it.

:lmao: If only them pesky independists can stop the flag burning every september 23...you don't wanna know which flag they're burning.

No worries. I was just covering my bases. I can seem rather douchey if I'm not watching myself. :lmao:

Yeah, you shouldn't tell me. Because if it's American, then they can fend for their own fucking selves, and stop getting all the benefits of being an American territory.

......:lmao: That's the most mad I've sounded in a while, I'd suppose. :lmao:

:lmao: that came straight from your wallet talking, Razor.

Funny part is that almost half the people that take part in it are college students that suddenly went to a couple of meetings, attended classes with professors that are simply fucking crazy, and suddenly think that acting like Che is the way to go....oh, and they're on federal aid too, so every time the check comes around they're ecstatic that the FAFSA came in, but are mad that they're relying on the imperialism.

As for me, it's cool if we're a state...we can probably get some football games to roll through here, or something. Look at Hawaii, for christ's sake. they're fine, aren't they?

ST, I would love to go and post in your thread, I have read it. However, I really don't have an opinion on the matter and if I posted in it, my post wouldn't be very good.
