Ha, nah you aren't the only one man. I wouldn't call it
piss water, but it's basically like water. Everyone knows Bud Light is the party mainstay, because it's relatively cheap, is a recognizable name, and women can drink a shitload of it, thus multiplying everyone at the party's chances of getting laid.
I don't mind Bud Light. It's not quality beer, but I drank so much of it back in high school that I could probably put away an entire thirty rack and be able to drive home
Seriously. I hate the shit. But it's not like I'm spending my money for the booze. I give the dude a few bucks, sure. But not enough to be complaining to him.
..Still. Bud Light is shit.
Razor I love your Batman & Philosophy threads. But I'm still an amateur in the field of Batman comics. I've read Year One, Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke, and The Long Halloween (which was definitely my favorite), that's about it thus far. Any other big titles I need to check out? Batman comics are definitely the easiest to get into. I'm a fan of X-Men as well because of the whole mutant allegory.
Just as a side note, you don't have to a legit expert on Batman or anything to get the jist of the thread. It really only ever uses the ones you've read plus Arkham Asylum, which I'm recommending to you now.
You should really check out
Arkham Asylum. That book is one fucked up graphic novel of awesome. Seriously. It'll play with your head. And all of the symbolic undertones will leave you interpreting it for days.
I would also recommend the
No Man's Land series. It's about Gotham after being ravaged by a earthquake. Let's just say that someone lets the criminals out of Arkham and Lex Luthor denies federal aid to Gotham. Batman has to essentially take back the city via gang warfare. It's separated into issues, and you should be able to find actual Volumes I-V, with a separate paperback novel that focuses on Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, the GCPD, and Batman. It sorta expounds on a few points not in the comics and cuts out Superman/Azrael. I really, really liked this novel also. I know No Man's Land isn't as singular as a graphic novel, but I'll be damned if it isn't good.
As far as the others....you've covered the main ones I would recommend. After these it gets into
Hush Volumes 1 & 2,
A Death In the Family, and
Batman: The Cult. There are many others out there, but these are the ones I like the most. Specifically read
A Death in the Family if you have to pick one, because that has a lot to do with Batman's psyche in later books.
