[Official] X Marks the Spot: Xfearbefore Xclusive Thread

I was going to make a new bar room thread soon anyway, though I wasn't counting on moving from this thread to the other like some sort of internet hermit crab.

Anyway I've decided that "Never Let Me Down Again" is about two gay college kids doing drugs in a field on a Summer's day.
 
Well, I was listening to it, and it sounds a lot like both a love song and a drug song. The summer's day and field are just a really nice visual.

The way I see things when I listen to it, the singer and his best friend were once involved with each other, then decided to be friends, and now are back together. And they "fly high" with drugs and also each other.

"Never let me down again" has a double meaning. It could refer to their prior relationship and the hopes that this one will work out, and also coming down from a high.

"As long as I remember who's wearing the trousers" brings to my mind at least images of a relationship, as "he wears the pants" is a pretty common phrase when talking about who is the more dominant of a couple.

"See the stars, they're shining bright/Everything's alright tonight" refers to both things.


Just thoughts that went through my mind as I was listening it today; LOVE that song.
 
It it one of Depeche Mode's very best. I've always seen the song as more about friendship instead of a love song, relating to the friend that he hopes he never lets him down again.

Yeah that works too. Whatever their relationship is, I definitely think some drugs are involved. Two friends, smoking together, had some problems in the past but are friends again. That kind of thing. "Flying high".

Nah I didn't watch NXT last night, but I've got it on my DVR so I'll watch it later today. Danielson busted out the cattle mutilation? Fuckin' awesome.
