Yeah I've decided to watch all of the IYH's as well, already watched the first two over the past week, about halfway through IYH 3 now. I remember really liking Bret's match with Jean-Pierre Lafitte, we'll see if it holds up.

I liked the angle but I continue to scratch my head over Bret just having random matches.

Wasn't really much else to do with him at the time, they were busy building up Shawn to be the new number one face in the company.

They were trying to get Hakushi and Lafitte over, and who better to help them do that than Bret Hart.

Hakushi I can get as he was a really unique character.

But Lafitte?

At the time LaFitte figured into the IC scene, and testing out his ability with Hart, under the lights, was a solid move.

They were pushing Lafitte pretty hardcore around the summer-fall of 95 though KB, so it made sense to pair him with Bret, who could get anyone over.

I barely remember him. The pirate gimmick ended his credibility for me.

Scratch that. It's ok for someone at his level, but I never once bought that gimmick vs. Bret.

Yeah I did. The first thing I wanted to know was why is Bret wrestling a pirate after he lost the title a few months before?

That was the end of "world's toughest barber makes sense" era and the beginning of the "real people with anger management issues" era. He was a last ditch effort to save the 80's. Not a good choice, but he gets more shit for it than he deserves.

Because he stole Bret's jacket and was stealing the sunglasses he would give to the little kids at the shows KB. Seems like a pretty valid reason to want to fight someone.

Yeah like I said, the angle was fine. The booking made zero sense years later when I watched it.
