[OFFICIAL] WWE Pay-Per-View Aftermath & Review

I don't now how people enjoyed this so much.

1. There was only 6 matches

2. 2 matches ended in a DQ on their second biggest PPV and they where both title matches. That is unacceptable when people pay for a PPV.

3. Big Show vs SES was just a throw away match. Did anyone really give a shit or get emotionally involved in this?

4. Ending was booked bad. You have Daniel Bryan return, he gets eliminated after a while, and leaves while having no impact on the out come of the finish. What was the point in having him return on a PPV then if he wasn't going to be a major player.

In the end I am glad I watched this at Hooters. My meal was worth more then this garbage.

1: and?

2: One was a No Contest

3: It was filler to get to the main event matches, seeing as Three Main Eventers, Three Mid Carders, Bret Hart and Eight Rookies were involved in the Main Event they needed to fill time. Just be glad there wasn't some Santino and Russian vs Regal and Ryder random tag match.

4: How was it booked bad? Danielson was the second last member of his team only was eliminated after eliminating two members of Nexus and the only reason he got pinned was because The Miz nailed him with his Briefcase. How wasn't he a major player? Seriously he did 2/7 of the eliminations. He did more then Bret, Edge, Jericho and Truth.

Its nice to hear you enjoyed your meal.

Why are so many people trying so hard to hate the product? It seems most people on the internet would rather just blindly hate then even try to enjoy the product.

One match. Kane pinned Rey Mysterio. Furthermore, the Orton/Sheamus match was terrific, even if the ending wasn't perfect.

Side Note: WWE updated their site so it says Kane defeated Rey.

It was sort of a throwaway, but it was actually a decent match.

Seriously? He was the second to last WWE'er eliminated, and he eliminated two people himself. Furthermore, he was the one who started the action by rushing in. He was a huge player in this.

I respect your opinion regarding the pay per view, but I feel as though you may not have gotten a good watch. Rewatch the the three main event matches and I think you'll change your tune.

I just feel that if you are only going to have 6 matches on a PPV then you have clean finishes regardless of how good the matches are. I know what Daniel Bryan did, but he had so much momentum since he was fired and returned to a huge reaction. Yes he eliminated 2 guys, but then gets eliminated and that is it. Super Cena takes over and that's it. BTW 2 matches ended in a DQ/No contest.

1. Kingston/Ziggler
2. Sheamus/Orton

Your opening match ends in a no contest on your second biggest show of the year. So now they used guys in the beginning of the show to screw up a title match, which could have been good, only for them to go on and lose the main event. BTW when is the last time SES has had a big win? What does WWE gain by Big Show winning? Why have Nexus interfere in the beginning of the show and then have them lose?

What exactly is everyone creaming their pants about!? This PPV sounded like an enormous disappointment. Three matches (reportedly) ended with a cheap finish and they were all title matches. All the other matches saw the faces go over when the heels in each and every one of those matches needed the win much more.

Melina just came back and already has the title again right when Fox was building some credibility. The SES has lost all steam after losing to little Rey fucking Mysterio and now all 3 of them lay down to The Big Show for what purpose? Then to cap off all this poppycockery, we have SuperCena go over Nexus once again defying all the odds because he's so damn unstoppable.

Cena is so protected by WWE that it has passed being ridiculous a long time. It's so ridiculous that now it's a little diculous. Honestly it's been grating on me for so long that I need a break. Starting today I'm going to take another hiatus on WWE for my sanity. Let me know if it ever starts getting better my friends.

In response to "Why are so many people trying so hard to hate the product?"

It's a shame that there are people out there who moan and moan. They truly believe they are smarter than World Wrestling Entertainment and the only thing they have to show for it: moan, hate, cry, rinse, repeat.

If they were brilliant and better than the WWE, i bet their wrestling promotion would be huge and attract the entire market share, singlehandly defeating the WWE Empire because they have all the answers. Their promotion would span the entire globe. They would attract the millions of wrestling fans to join together and dominate the wrestling landscape. Then they wake up from that fallacy and realize that "they are nothing like the WWE, therefore the WWE isn't like me." They believe they are smarter than the WWE. They know what they are talking about. Their proof, let's watch the WWE and i'll show you why it was very stupid to do this, very stupid to do that, you want to be stupid, book like the WWE which is crap.

They really believe they are right and everything the WWE does is wrong. With that mindset, they latch onto into a conveyor belt that spins round and round, only collecting the things that support their righteousness, their answers. They cannot be wrong, therefore they are always right. And they make sure everyone who does enjoy wrong, know what is right because only they know all the right answers.

And the sad part, they'll never go away quietly.

It was a disappointment to all the people who have their heads stuck around the years 1998 - 2001. Melina winning the title back doesn't make much sense but who cares? The SES didn't lie down for The Big Show. Punk ran away while Show chokeslammed Mercury onto Gallows. Cena didn't get into the match until the their was only him and Danielson from what I can remember. He only won because he managed tol roll out of the way of the 450 then trip Barret out of no where and get the submission victory. He barely beat just two/seven of the Nexus. So what if Cena is soooo protected he is the face of the company. Did Hogan ever lose during his reign of dominance? Did Stone Cold lose constantly when he was at the top? No... So neither does Cena. Did you really expect seven "rookies" to go over three main eventers, two midcarders, a hall of fame member and another "rookie".

I'm sure you will tune in tomorrow to watch Raw despite how you claim you won't.

I have very mixed feelings about this PPV.
Firstly, I think they should have left the IC title match, that was a match that could have been a brilliant opener, it was a very solid match up until Nexus come in and destroy them. Disappointed

Anyway, Women's title match - Return of Melina will always beat Alicia (even though she was starting to look decent as champ)Don't care

SES losing? wtf? seriously? They needed that win so bad, when was the last time they had a big win? And like Big Show needs a win, he well over anyway, and it's not gonna look bad if he is beat by three guys and bald woman. Does not make sense to me. Very disappointed

What a match between Orton and Sheamus, obv till the ending. I was hook to this match, major league, first time ever with the jar of mayo, however i was really enjoying it. Well done to them too, enjoy it till the BS ending, however i see why it has been done. Good match, poor ending but keeps feud going though

Well done Kane, favourite part of the show for me; beat mysterio CLEANLY, then when Taker returned he over powers him and shows him who is boss. Exactly played by WWE there. And brilliant performance/acting by taker. Highly enjoyed

I'm very 50/50 on the main event. I loved the Danielson is back, i absolutely do.

But i believe Nexus should have won, at first i thought it would bury them, however, i dont think it will. I think they will come out fighting even more.

However, cause team WWE won i am much more excited for RAW, to see what how Nexus respond, and i do believe this loss for Nexus will lead us to finding out who is the leader. Okay, bad result, good for RAW

Overall, i dont think it was a brilliant PPV (apart from the return's of 'Taker and Danielson), however i think it does alot for RAW and Smackdown's main event pictures, and it look like Night of Champions will be worth watching!

SummerSlam was a big disappointment in my view. Let me preface this by saying WWE creative has let me down so much over the latter years, that I expect nothing from them. And it was SummerSlam for gosh sakes!

#1 - You had a chance to shock and aww everybody and you balked at multiple chances: Cena, HHH, or The Hitman turning and being the leader of Nexus. I will give you big kudos on Daniel Bryan being the 7th man. And for Miz attacking him...to a point. Cena or The Hitman could have turned on each other. HHH making an appearance would have been unexpected. Please WWE...Cena is not Hulk Hogan. He's not over with everybody. Far from it. Quit booking him like he is. The Super Man gimmick is tired. Especially since is his in ring work doesn't merit it. Miz should have cashed in MITB tonight against Orton or Sheamus. My vote was against Orton, and I don't care who would have won. That's SummerSlam PPV quality!

#2 - Two Title DQ matches: Really? At your 2nd biggest PPV! All DQ in a PPV stands for is furthering an angle. Since WWE is so horrible at giving us a story leading up to a major PPV. We get 2 DQ's. Terrible. Prime example of WWE trying to build up a thrown together storyline at a PPV. Kofi and Dolph should have been somewhat of a show stealing match. Then to end it like that? The very first match. Thanks for making me regret paying $55 right away! The DQ of the Orton Sheamus match would have been a little more palatable without the first DQ match.

#3 - Big Show vs. SES!: CM Punk is absolutely great! This is the best you came up with? Big Show vs. a hurt Punk, Gallos, and Mercury? Did you guys even try on this one? Look if you're building a story...again not the time or place. At SummerSlam!? The match was terrible too.

Look this isn't Wrestlemania. Not every storyline needs to be at their finality. But for this, their #2 PPV, I expect 90% of the matches to have lots of storytelling, titles to be won (not DQ'd), and lots of matches that make sense (No DiBiase, Rhodes, MVP, Christian, etc.) I may be taking out frustration on creative for being bad for a long time. Besides the Nexus angle, what have they done in a long time? I feel I just wasted good money on what should have been a much better PPV.

Summerslam 2010

Match #1: Intercontinental Championship (Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler)

Kofi was late interrupting Vickie, which I found a tad funny, but she just used the time to get a little more heat anyway. Ziggler and Kofi had a nice back and forth opening bout. Kofi tried some high risk and Ziggler evaded for a nice crash and burn spot. A nice touch for me is when a heel tries to get a countout victory to retain a title, and Ziggler tried that here. It makes me feel like (1.) the heel has a brain and (2.) the title actually is being fought for.

After some further action, Ziggler locks in his sleeper hold and the Nexus comes from nowhere to beat the snot out of both guys (mainly Kofi). Barrett gets on the mic and basically says that what they just did will happen to team WWE and anyone that even thinks of being guy #7. Oh, well...

Rating: 6/10

Match #2: Diva's Championship (Alicia Fox vs Melina)

Melina never really lost this title, and Fox was just in the right place at the right time to get it. This match seemed pretty sloppy to me, and most of it was coming from Melina. I can't say that I was super-excited about the contest in the first place, but any ring rust just killed it completely.

Thankfully, this one stayed short and got to the point. Melina planted Fox and regained the title that she never really lost in the first place. Afterwords, Lay-Cool came out to complain about lack of competition on smackdown and to have a photo-op with Melina. That didn't last and Melina ate the announcer's table. I guess some cross-brand rivalry will come from this.

Rating: 4/10

Match #3: 3-on-1 Handicap Match (The SES vs The Big Show)

I actually like the two main guys in this one (Show and Punk), but they just don't seem to click together. Cole explains that the heels will have to tag in and out, but that rule quickly is overturned, apparently. Maybe it just didn't exist...

The action here is pretty basic, with Show taking turns dominating and succumbing to the numbers advantage. Eventually, Punk just has enough of it and runs up the ramp with Serena, where he watches Show chokeslam Mercury on Gallows for the win. I don't know where the SES or the Big Show are going from here, but hopefully this amounts to something.

Rating: 5/10

Match #4: WWE Championship (Sheamus vs Randy Orton)

Unlike most, I actually kinda liked the Royal Rumble match between these two, so I was looking forward to this match as well. Randy is red hot with the crowd, and Sheamus cut a nice promo in the back with Kane coming into this one, so the build is there.

The majority of the match sees some counters that result in Orton's shoulder being banged up. I always cringe when I see him take the spot over the top rope to the floor (the same one from the Triple H Last Man Standing match that put Orton out in 2008). Orton eventually starts his comeback, pumping up, but never hitting an RKO, which is constantly countered. Sheamus hits his backbreaker and kick, but Orton kicks out. Sheamus gets frustrated, goes for a chair, struggles with the ref, and gets DQ'd. Orton then beats him up and RKO's him on the table. Orton wins, but gets no title. Feud continues...?

Rating: 7/10

Match #5: World Heavyweight Championship (Kane vs Rey Mysterio)

This is the complete opposite of the last match for me, as I have absolutely despised almost every match between Kane and Mysterio. Fortunately for me, this one may have been my favorite. For the first time in a while, I felt like their match actually did what it was supposed to do, with Kane playing the monster and Mysterio playing the victim.

To make a long story short, Kane won after finally catching Mysterio with a chokeslam. He then hit two more chokeslams and a tombstone piledriver before opening the ringside casket only to find the Undertaker inside. This weakened Taker confronted both guys before deciding to believe Rey Mysterio over his own brother. However, Kane, despite having a whole match, was too strong for Taker and Tombstoned him in the middle of the ring before hitting his pyro and leaving. To be concluded on smackdown, I would assume...

Rating: 7/10

Match #7: Team Nexus vs Team WWE

Earlier in the night, Edge and Jericho tried to get Miz to be the seventh man, and later Miz accepted (while cutting a nice in-ring promo). Nexus come out first, and stand united in the ring. Then when Miz is about to come out last for Team WWE, Cena cuts him off, says he is too late to be the seventh man, because they already got somebody (I guess Edge and Jericho weren't in the loop for that). The real seventh man is none other than a returning Daniel Bryan. Yes, I marked out all over the place too.

Eliminations came quickly, but not too fast to take away from the competitors. In fact, only R-Truth and Darren Young seemed to be squashed in the match. Bret Hart went out to a DQ, Slater pinned Jericho and Edge, Sheffield pinned Morrison and Truth, Barrett pinned Bryan (after the Miz interfered and hit him with the Briefcase), Otunga lasted a decent amount of time, and Gabriel was eliminated by Cena after working a good portion of the match.

On the flip side, WWE was made to look "pro", for lack of a better term. Cena was superman, as always. Edge and Jericho really looked stronger than any individual Nexus guy. Bret Hart looked like he could actually still go (if only a little), and Bryan eliminated Young and Slater with a Crossface.

For a main event, even though the WWE did win, which does seem a tad anti-climactic, this match did its job. Almost all the talent was showcased, with guys like Skip Sheffield made to look amazing. This was my biggest problem going into the matchup; I feared that too many quick pins would make for a terrible show. On the contrary, the match felt fast paced and fun, while giving each guy a decent time to show off.

In the end, it was Barrett tapping out to Cena's STF to send the crowd home happy.

Rating: 9/10

Overall:

Overall, I liked this show. It wasn't the best event I've ever seen, but it was far from the worst. To those that complain about the lack of card depth, I'd counter with the main event, which received a large portion of an hour all to itself. With 14 men in one ring, I'm sure it is worth at least two or three midcard matches.

To those that complain about the unclean finishes, I partially agree. Kofi vs Ziggler was fine to end the way it did because it served its purpose. It could be said that Ziggler was about to win anyway, didn't make either guy look weak, allows for the possibility of a rematch, and made Nexus look strong. Orton vs Sheamus ending in a DQ was something I saw coming, just to allow one more match (possibly gimmick) to blow off the rivalry. If you look at where everyone else is going on RAW, these two would lack direction without each other right now. It makes sense.

Finally, to those that complain about Cena winning/superman/not turning heel, I get it. Many wanted Nexus to win because they had more to gain than WWE did. I think in the big picture, Nexus will rebound and come back to pick up a big win in the near future. The WWE wanted to send the fans home happy on one of their bigger cards, and they did. Two big returns and Cena posing to end the show makes up for Rey and Randy not winning the major titles. Best of all, the storylines are shaping up, and will hopefully continue to make sense in the coming months.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10

this is just a tragic thread, all around. a lot of you are hating just to hate. this isnt a place to piss and moan like children. after that TRAGIC hardcore justice PPV, this was by default better. that has to be worth something?

if anything, its unarguable, that everyone who bought this got their money worth from mr daniel bryan himself alone. his 5 minutes or whatever it was in the main event was epic. like words cant describe epic. ive trolled around online just reading people hate and hate on every little detail about this ppv. it was disappointing for the most part. thats understood.

but how will you feel in 6 months when people STILL talk about that 5 minutes? how can witnessing a true star, whos return was a complete shocker, being born be THAT bad?

i guess im one of those wrestling "fans" that can still appreciate something awesome for what it was.

I thought it was good. The Sham/Viper match should have had a clean decision. Kane beating Rey was a must, the idea of a garden gnome beating someone the size of Kane is just plain stupid. I liked the fact he overpowered Taker in the end. Divas, who cares? Kofi and Dolph, ok, but SD's stars just aren't, they are the same boring matches every week and it spilled over here. Show/SES was entertaining, but SES has run it's course. Main event was good. Miz's stunt was predictable. I thought it played out well. Jericho and Edge are still heels. Bryan looked good. The weaker of the Nexus were eliminated quickly, appropriate. Bret looked amazing, considering what he's been through and how bad he's looked in the past (I remember him trying to climb the ropes, missing a bit and Natalia trying to keep him from falling). He moved well, everything had impact. Elbow drop looked great. They got him out without any real bumps. Did you really expect Wade Barrett to beat Cena? Barrett is about as overrated as it gets. He always needs help for his finisher, almost killed himself and Mark Henry botching it. He just is not impressive. Skip looked to be easily the most dominant of the bunch. I wish they would give Morrison more of a push, outside of looking decent against Dibase lately, he's just been a jobber. I think he is far more interesting than the Miz (no one with a fauxhawk should every be successful). over all good

For those of you complaining about The Big Show defeating the SES I have to question if you actually watched the match. Just before the finish Punk was having a moment of solo dominance against Show, he then fled, and sacrificed his members to take the loss.

It was pretty clear they were emphasizing Show beat the other members hence he pinned them both at the same time; the commentators even stated this sacrifice themselves.

This sets up a 1v1 feud between Show and a fully fit Punk in the near future.

The Miz has to drop his US title sometime before he moves up to the main event, I smell a feud with Daniel Bryan in the works.

This feud would work wonders for both of them, for Miz to work with the ability of Danielson and Danielson to get the rub from Miz's enormous heat can only be good things.

Overall I thought the PPV was pretty solid, maybe even contender for PPV of the year (so far anyway), the main event was definitely the most enjoyable of the year, lots of twists and turns, action and fresh faces.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed that pay-per-view. I probably missed about five, ten minutes accumulated because I was going through my night time ritual of pooing and brushing my teeth, but there you go. Had to stay up until four o'clock in the morning.

The Kofi/Ziggler match was OK, I guess. I don't really care about Kofi or Ziggler, especially since WWE Creative shot down my Adolph Ziggler idea. Nexus coming in served a purpose. It was surprising and it made them intimidating - again - after being chased out of the ring last Monday.

Then there was a women's match. It was a women's match, what more do I need to say? It was boring/irritating.

SES/Big Show seemed OK before I had to miss the ending to go poop. Looks like Punk is growing his hair back and got a new tattoo - that's what I'll take from this match.

I thought Sheamus/Orton was pretty good. These two have chemistry together, even though I felt the feud wasn't built up enough going into SummerSlam. The ending was disappointing. I think it might have been a botch. I just don't see how the referee falling out of the ring is a disqualifiable offense. Unlike others, I think the table not breaking made the spot at the end look more brutal. Bouncing off the table just looks more painful than going through. Better than any Triple H/Randy Orton match ever.

Kane/Mysterio was, um, pretty alright from what I remember. I was kind of drifting in and out. The Undertaker return was pretty signposted but hey, it was nice of him to sell the coma.

The main event was just plain spectacular. That's how you do an elimination tag match. I've seen a few and I think this was without a doubt the best. Let's get the obvious out of the way, I marked out when Daniel Bryan came out. I marked out - like I put it last night - "like a schoolgirl on lithium." Yeah, that doesn't make sense but it doesn't have to. The match made everybody involved look good. Shit, Bret Hart even did some wrestling moves.

I didn't like the end. I didn't like it not because I thought it was illogical or poorly executed - that's like disliking Star Trek because you don't think black holes let you time travel - but because I like it when the protagonist loses. My favourite films are stuff like No Country For Old Men and Se7en. I wanted a black ending with hopelessness for all. My black heart was not satisfied.

Why are so many people trying so hard to hate the product? It seems most people on the internet would rather just blindly hate then even try to enjoy the product.

Because everyone who hated this show is a TNA mark. It's so obvious! They find that one little thing that was wrong. It it were up to me though, I would have had Barret eliminate Cena then Bryan take out both Barret and Gabriel to shut Cole up once and for all.

THE SHOW WAS SOLID! DIVAS ACTUALLY GOT A PROMO ON A PPV, AND AN ACTUAL ENTERTAINING MATCH! Kane is still World Champion, the WWE title match was a very good match overall despite the bad ending, The Miz cut a brilliant promo and the Daniel Bryan surprise was just amazing!

Why are so many people trying so hard to hate the product? It seems most people on the internet would rather just blindly hate then even try to enjoy the product.

You made good points, but I wanted to address this last statement because, to some degree, I answered it in the Team WWE vs. The Nexus thread. One big reason why some people are hating on the ppv in general is because of the ending to the Team WWE vs. The Nexus match. There are many within the IWC that had rigid, strict and very set ideas on what they not only felt should happen but would accept nothing else other than their own scenario. Some expected Bret Hart to turn heel and it didn't happen, so some criticize. Some expected/wanted John Cena to turn heel and it didn't happen, so that sect is going to criticize. Most expected Team WWE to lose and they didn't, so they criticize. Some really expected to see John Cena get pinned and he didn't, so they criticize.

I guess the point is that there are so many within the IWC that are all about instant gratification that it's ruined wrestling for them. They want things EXACTLY the way they want them at EXACTLY the right time with no deviation whatsoever from how they think things should go down. In other words, they want to be fantasy bookers and believe they could do a better job despite the fact that the VAST majority of them wouldn't have the first clue about how to make things work for the long run. As long as they're happy for just that moment, that's all they care about.

Overall a pretty disappointing show. I felt the wrestling was quite poor throughout and the matches didn't really prove anything.

Going into the show I was quite excited hoping to see some stars made.
I dont understand why Sheamus can't get a clean win, if he pinned Orton he would of became a bonafied big name, instead hes still the wimpy champ and he nor the belt has much credibility.

I was also disappointed with Supercena crushing Nexus and Big Show not laying down for Punk. You wont make stars if they dont get the pins at the big events.

Very disappointed so many matches ended in dq's, especially a world title match at the supposedly second biggest show of the year.

Ziggler/Kofi - This was a solid opener. Kofi and Ziggler really started to get things going until we get the Nexus running in and beating them down. I didn't like this. Sure, you showcase the authority and power of the Nexus, but you ruin a completely good match. Could have had this in a backstage promo or something, instead of ruining this match and ending it in a no contest.

Melina/Alicia - I had higher expectations for this one seeing that Melina was in it. But this was as clumsy and awkward as all the other Divas matches we see on PPV. I don't really like Melina going over Alicia clean twice in one week either. Even though I don't like Alicia and think she's pretty terrible, that isn't a very good way to do the champ.

Big Show/SES - With Punk and Big Show in this one, I thought it would be good. But this one was just too slow and not enough good wrestling and the action was pretty boring. Im fine with Big Show winning, and with Punk basically ditching Mercury/Gallows at the end, it makes me think the SES is coming to an end, which is unfortunate, but they have lost their luster anyways. Plus I feel Punk is better off by himself.

Orton/Sheamus - This one started off terribly slow, and it didn't pick up steam until the last few minutes. I felt this was pretty underwhelming overall, and worse than their Rumble match. For 15 minutes or so, this was just rest holds and stomps from Orton. It was fun towards the end, but the stupid DQ finish fucked up anything this match had going for it. Plus it makes Sheamus look like a total pussy.

Kane/Mysterio - Mysterio wearing another obnoxious outfit here, and he looks like a complete tool, what else is new? Similar to the previous match, this was pretty damn underwhelming, with little action. I think we were all just waiting for the lights to go out and Taker to appear. Taker somehow gets in the coffin when we aren't looking, because the lights never went out, and boom there's the deadman. His return was kind of anticlimactic, and he was talking to Rey in the corner, but the live crowd probably didn't have a clue what was going on, because you could hardly hear it on TV. Then Taker/Kane do some weird arm strength competition and Kane tombstones Taker. Finally Kane goes over Taker! I like it.

WWE/Nexus - I saw the "leaked" article on WWE.com about Daniel Bryan so I guess I had it spoiled for me. Why the fuck would WWE do that shit? According to WZ, there have been no repercussions, and some wrestlers are even saying they think WWE did it on purpose, but why? So Bryan's return wasn't as epic for me, but it was still damn cool. This match was action packed, and the crowd was fucking into it. Hell, even Bret Hart looked great out there. I love Miz screwing over Bryan too, which sets up a feud between them. Im fine with Team WWE winning, but the way Nexus is booked in the coming weeks is crucial. Im not a huge fan of the Cena comeback win, but I think we're all used to it by now.

I remember KB saying in the LD that if you want to know the definition of a one match show, this is it, and he's absolutely correct in that regard. If WWE/Nexus wasn't good, then the whole show is bad, but with a fantastic main event, it really makes you elevate all of the other matches in your mind, as well as the overall show.

Im going to give this show a B+ because of the fantastic main event, but the hours leading up to it were extremely lackluster and underwhelming in my mind. This show is worth watching for the return of Taker and Daniel Bryan, as well as WWE/Nexus.

Ziggler needed to hold onto to that title no matter what. A no contest was better than a loss for him by far! Keeps this Kofi v Ziggler feud going. For a Divas match, Melina v Alicia wasn't really that bad. First Diva's match in almost a year I didn't take a piss break for. Maybe its because I'm a big Melina fan though. Big Show v SES was kind of pointless... Gallows (Fetus) should never ever ever be on a PPV. There's no quality about him that makes him watchable. Sheamus v Orton wasn't the biggest pile of crap on the PPV, but it wasn't amazing. Best part of the match was the aftermath by far. I was screaming for Miz to cash in. It was the perfect opportunity. When the kept the segment going (for what seemed like forever) I was so sure of resident man of awesomeness was going to take his throne at the top. Kane v Mysterio was way too predictable. Of course everyone expected 'Taker to return. As soon as we saw Kane bring that casket to the ring, I know I was thinking, "Kane is going to try to put Mysterio in there and Undertaker will come back." Needless to say, I was right. I have to give props to WWE for the main event. I was very into this match. It was good. It had as one of the commentators (Cole, I think?) said, "This match has a Wrestlemania feel." When Danielson returned, I was in awe. The man looked fantastic. It looked as if they let him do his thing. That Crossface move looked great. I was surprised to see Nexus go two down so quick. It looked for a while like it was going to be a complete squash but the real squash didn't come until SuperCena got away from whatever kryptonite was up his ass and got knocked lose. It was probably that DDT on the "concrete" floor that did it because after that, it seemed like he was invincible. The ending was complete garbage. I can't believe they booked Nexus losing like that. This definitely sets them back. Although most of the match made them look credible, this was definitely a bad match for Darren Young. He was barely in the match 3-5 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nexus dump him. In fact, I hope they do. Hes not believable as a heel. This match made Justin Gabriel look good. Hes much more credible than most of the guys in Nexus.

Overall, for a Summerslam, This was a decent PPV. I didn't see world class wrestling, but I think they definitely wrapped up some big storylines and have kept Sheamus v Orton going and have set them up for a final match at NOC. Hopefully SES v Big Show is done too. Kane v Mysterio is over and I think we'll see Cena v Nexus for a bit longer. I wouldn't be surprised to see a championship scramble of some sort at NOC with Sheamus/Orton/Cena/Barrett/Edge or Jericho. WWE needs to get Nexus on the NOC PPV somehow even if its just beating up people in matches. Summerslam did its job this year.

I'll give it a 3.5/5 stars.

For something considered as part of the major WWE ppv that was one of the worst ones I have seen in a long time. Pure garbage and disappointment.

I'd just like to point out that a LOT of people were left off the card and didn't even appear, especially SD stars. Doesn't really matter though, just thought I'd mention it.

IC Title: Good choice in pitting as the first match, although it started off very shaky. Did anyone notice that Kofi wasn't performing to his usual standards? Ziggler performed VERY well during the match and for the most part was pretty enjoyable... and then come the Nexus. Good booking, considering we saw this match two weeks prior on SD and they didn't want either man losing. Makes Nexus look strong too.

Diva's Title: I thought this was going to be a good women's match. Fox has been on fire and Melina has got a big... er... moveset. Is she wearing clothes... oh, skin colour tights. This had two match-killing moments (when both girls got "injured"... bad selling) and slowed down the momentum. I didn't want to see Melina win personally, but at least this will give us a feud. Lay-Cool interrupts and dominates, like always.

Handicap: Wasn't really the type of match I was expecting, but then I realised this was only a filler to continue the feud between Big Show and CM Punk. I don't think Punk abandoning his Society indicates a break-up, it's a bookers way of allowing Punk to escape Show and not have them two do anything big. Keep that for a later date and match, with better storyline/build.

Miz Promo: He did very well and made the process drawn out, to finally give an answer we weren't expecting. A couple of cheap heat comments from him too, unusual for him. So... The Miz is the 7th member.

WWE Title: Great slow and psychological match here. Crowd was in to this one. Randy plays this snake-like character very well whilst Sheamus comes off as dominate. Solid match by both men that ended in another cheap victory for Sheamus... almost makes me wonder when they'll give him a clean one (I'm not complaining though). Looks like we'll see this continue on.

World Title: Mysterio looks shit scared whilst Kane looks very sadistic (oooo, a casket). I know we have a lot of Rey Rey haters here, but the man can sell and act. We haven't seen anything new from these two since the last time they wrestled, but they made a passable World title match. Good to see Kane retaining... now he goes ape-shit... and The Undertaker? Okay... he seems a little off, which would sell his coma thing... and we've got another Kane/Taker feud.

Good thing to see booking allow Kane to look stronger and the more dominate brother. I think that with the vegetative state storyline, they might remove some of Taker's "powers" like more mortal. Hopefully, this is the nail in the coffin.

Tag Match: SummerFest 2010 was pretty much about the Nexus vs. WWE match and to give these seven new guys the main event slot is pretty damn impressive... as well as having Daniel Bryan return to face his former enemies. Not sure if the E set it up or not, but it's a great choice. Miz means nothing to this match. They booked this match quite well and everyone in that match deserves credit. I haven't felt so much emotion for a match in YEARS. I forcefully suspend my disbelief to watch wrestling... but this match didn't need my willpower. They drew it out of me... and I watched the replay at home. Excellent match. Bryan, Hart & Morrison were booked well to be eliminated. Truth seemed a little odd, but it worked. Sheffield made me a believer in his abilities and did extremely well. Eliminated two men and it took a plethora of shots to eliminate him. Young deserved to be axed early and Tarver was an odd choice to go second, but he got some good shots in. I'm surprised Otunga lasted as much as he did...

Look at me ramble now. But the booking of this match was excellent and I can see why John Cena won. Nexus has NEVER been booked to look weak as a unit before and a win here after all that Cena has been through is a great idea, as long as this isn't the blow-off. I smell Daniel Bryan becoming the US champion at NOC.

Overall, it wasn't a bad PPV. The elimination match carried the PPV, with Undertaker returning being a close second. It was something fresh to see eight new guys in the ME mixing it up with veterans. Nothing more than a 3 star PPV.

Intercontinental Championship Match
Dolph Ziggler (C) (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. Kofi Kingston
A solid match. WE saw this match on TV multiple times over the past month but that didn't mean that this wasn't an entertaining opener. The Suicide Dive from Kofi was a nice spot. The fans really do love Kingston and I see a run into the upper-midcard coming soon for Kingston. The Nexus Interference made sense and showed them to be a dominant force, not afraid of anyone, no matter what show.
Result: No Contest
Rating: 5/10

Nexus Promo
Wade Barrett shows exactly why he needs to be the vocal leader of Nexus. Barrett has good in-ring ability and is certainly an excellent performer on the mic. A solid promo.

Edge & Jericho with The Miz Backstage
Edge & Jericho attempting to convince Miz to join team WWE was a good way of introducing Miz to the PPV. Jericho & Edge really came off looking desperate (which was the idea) and this worked out well.

Divas Championship Match
Alicia Fox (C) vs. Melina
This was okay for a divas match. I've no idea what the hell Melina was wearing and I swear Alicia Fox was wearing a peacock feathered skirt. Overall, the storytelling was pretty decent buit the execution etc...was pretty poor.
Result: Melina (New Divas Champion)
Rating: 3/10

Post Match - Laycool
Teasing a title unification is interesting. Hopefully it happens, the women’s divisions in WWE aren't strong enough to support two women’s belts. The beatdown itself started out pretty week but improved towards the end with the knee from McCool (that looked pretty vicious). Okay segment.

Three On One Handicap Match
The Straight-Edge Society (w/Serena) vs. The Big Show
That T-Shirt from Punk was pretty funny. Serena looked incredibly hot last night. Show came out to a decent reception actually. The match went on longer than it should have AND the wrong person won. There were still some decent moments though. Punk looking strong against Show was good (how he managed to kick him in the head from a standing position, I'll never know) and the ending at least makes sense (Punk abandoning the troops will only further the SES' willingness to prove itself).
Result: The Big Show
Rating: 4/10

Kane & Sheamus Casket Segment
This was a bit odd. Kane & Sheamus meet one another for the first time and Sheamus asks for a casket that'll fit Orton...okay, where did that come from? Sheamus comes off looking strong in the end though, as he doesn't back down or look intimidated, plus his shirt looks great in green.

The Miz Promo
Speaking of different shirt colours, here comes the Miz wearing a blue version of his shirt (which also looks great or should I say awesome?). Miz cuts a great promo on being the 7th man in the Main Event. He comes across as a total jackass and actually, at points, is a bit Rock like. He sounds great and it also starts Michael Cole acting like he's on NXT.

WWE Championship Match
Sheamus (C) vs. Randy Orton
The match these two had at the Royal Rumble was pretty poor so this HADto be at least be an improvement upon that. The feud basically breaks down into that neither man is scared of the other and them trying to intimidate the other. Sheamus was wearing a lot of green and it looked...slightly odd. The pair went back and forth and put together a solid exchange. Sheamus came off as a dominant force during the middle of the match while Orton looked good recovering from Sheamus' assaults. The DQ finish was a tad cheap but it keeps the belt around Sheamus' waist without having Orton leave the title picture.
Result: Randy Orton (Via DQ)
Rating: 7/10

Post Match - Sheamus Gets an RKO
The post match incident worked pretty well. The look on Sheamus' face when the ref called for the bell was priceless. Orton recovering and then nailing that RKO looked great. The table not breaking actually made the move look better.

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Kane (C) vs. Rey Mysterio
Everyone under the sun knew Kane was going to win this match. And sure enough he did. This was better than I thought it was going to be (especially after the awful feud these two had back in 08').Mysterio looked like the underdog he was meant to be and Kane came across as the powerful champion making him look good. Solid all round.
Result: Kane (Still World Heavyweight Champion)
Rating: 6/10

Post Match - Undertaker's Return
After teasing it twice, Kane finally opened his casket to reveal The Undertaker. Not surprising but none the less, effective. Kane destroyed Mysterio with two Chokeslams and a Tombstone prior to attempting to put him in the casket. Whatever make-up etc... they applied to Taker, really worked out well and he looked like he had just been out of it for a while. The whole thing was a bit odd with taker backing Rey in the corner (while Taker was pretty loud & Clear, Mysterio was very quiet & inaudible). Taker turned around and accusingly pointed a finger at Kane after making the cut-throat sign. It appears Kane is Takers attacker which was very predictable. It makes for good drama but (probably) poor matches. Kane hit Taker with a Tombstone before leaving.

The 7th Man
Now then, The Nexus made their way to the ring as did Cena & Co until the Miz arrived. Michael Cole was just about to big up the Miz when suddenly, Cena cut him off saying that Miz was too late and that they'd found another 7th man. Okay, at this point I was fairly certain HHH was about to make his return (which would have made little sense as he's still involved with Sheamus, but I digress). Cena then very casually announced that the 7th man was Daniel Bryan...it took roughly three seconds for that to sink in for me before I was marking out. Sure enough DBD was indeed the 7th man (much to The Miz & Michael Cole's distaste).

7 on 7 Elimination Match
The Nexus vs. John Cena, Edge, R-Truth, Chris Jericho, John Morrison, Bret Hart & Daniel Bryan
So it was on, Bryan started things off with Young who he quickly eliminated with a crossface. Next out was Michael Tarver at the hands of Starship Pain from John Morrison. Morrsion then went down to the Lariat of Skip Sheffield. Things were all tied up shortly after that same Lariat took down R-Truth. The match had started off with a nice fast pace and so far, everyone involved had shown decent in-ring skill (except for Young who was there for a cup of coffee). After Heath Slater began to piss people off, Bret Hart managed to enter and really should have eliminated Slater (him not tapping was really odd) but at least he showed some actual wrestling moves (he even executed a pretty good body slam) before being eliminated for using a steel chair on Sheffield. Bret was gone but Skip was too after a Spear from Edge. David Otunga was the NXT causality (see, I'm clever like that) as he submitted to the Walls of Jericho. Amazingly, the WWE lost Edge & Jericho to Heath Slater...WHY?!? This was the most annoying thing about this match to me, why did Slater eliminate not one, but TWO members of Team WWE? I seriously don't see why they couldn't have had Barrett eliminate Jericho (it would have made sense, no?). Anyway, Jericho & Edge attacking Cena worked out nicely, building toward the big finish. Bryan shortly afterwards eliminated Slater, much to my delight, before being clocked by The Miz. This shows that WWE knows where it's going with the Miz and that they DON'T have a face run planned for him (just yet). Barrett stole the pinfall on Bryan. Two against one, the Nexus seemed to have it all wrapped up (with Michael Cole claiming that it was DBD's fault) but they were fighting against John Cena. After a nasty looking spot where Cena took a DDT on the concrete (Barrett should have watched Bragging Rights more carefully as Randy Orton did a similar move and got a pinfall victory over Cena there) Gabriel went for the 450 only miss and get pinned by Cena who then made Barrett Submit in a really fun main event.
Result: Team WWE (Cena Surviving)
Rating: 8/10

Final Thoughts:
Overall a good event, but not great. The main event is definitely the reason you should buy this. It was a great match and the return of Bryan was great. Matt Striker was also on form here so special mention to him. Overall, a solid show
Show Rating: 7/10

especially since WWE Creative shot down my Adolph Ziggler idea.

You made me spit up my drink I laughed so much at that, thanks for that.. priceless idea.

The ppv was 50/50 for me.

The thing with Kofi & Ziggler, I was expecting a good match, Nexus pissed me off that time.
Diva's match was, well, lame. Alicias face? something looked so weird about it, creeped me out even.
Big Show and SES? Meh.. not bad. The whole first half was not that great, but the second half made up for it.

Kane & Mysterio, well I'm down for anything that shows Rey getting completely brutalized, can't stand the fella. Undertaker actually looked, well, like a deadman. If he was selling the coma, good job.

Randy & Sheamus, I wanted a clean finish to this match. That's all I have
bad to say about that match.

7 vs 7 match: saved the PPV in my opinion. The match was good, and Danny Bryan was a good return. But Cena of course did his super shit and won, that dissapointed me. I really wanted Gabriel to take the win with that 450, THAT would of shown Nexus' dominance. But all in all I'm happy I bought it.

What a complete anti-climax to a Summerslam which could of delivered so much.

I really don't know where to start, why make the 7 man Elimination Match the Main Event if nothing is going to happen. They have gained absolutely nothing out of Cena once again overcomming the odds. At least give the win to Danielson to help elevate him, or have Cena turn Heel. Instead, all we have now is a dismantled Nexus with nothing much else left to offer.

Why not have the Miz be the 7th man, turn on WWE and then cash in on the WWE Champion after the Main Event. It was all wrong.

Why Randy Orton didn't win the Title makes no sense at all. He's as hot as he will ever be right now, and they've over done it now. Sooner or later he'll just get the Strap and nobody will care as it's been overdue. He needed to take the Title from Sheamus at Summerslam.

Where do we go now from Summerslam - all that's left is a WWE Championship Match between Sheamus and Triple H, then Bryan Danielson to take the US Championship from the Miz. Nexus are pretty much done.

The one thing I am pleased with is that Kane tombstoned Undertaker, and not the other way round. They got that right.

But, this PPV promised so much, an all but definate Heel Turn from a Team WWE Member in the Main Event was a must. Apart from the Danielson Return, and Kane/Undertaker Segment, the PPV has once again been an Anti-Climax. Summerslam's and Wrestlemania's are meant to be the two Shows a year where we don't expect the generic Finishes, and want something more. Much like Wrestlemania 25, we didn't get it.

It did.

I really don't know where to start, why make the 7 man Elimination Match the Main Event if nothing is going to happen.

They were thinking to make John Cena turn heel, but they weren't sure because Cena makes a lot of money for the WWE. I don't get why people like you can't understand that.

They have gained absolutely nothing out of Cena once again overcomming the odds. At least give the win to Danielson to help elevate him, or have Cena turn Heel. Instead, all we have now is a dismantled Nexus with nothing much else left to offer.

Again, Cena should not turn heel. As much as I'd like to see it, it won't happen. Danielson looked amazing. He came back to continue his feud The Miz. Possibly the next US champion. He wrestled amazing! What more do you want from the guy? Nexus will not be over. They stick together. Have you even watched RAW?

Why not have the Miz be the 7th man, turn on WWE and then cash in on the WWE Champion after the Main Event. It was all wrong.

No, you're wrong. I'm so happy that Danielson was the 7th man, now he can get that US title off of The Miz. Why would The Miz cash it in on Sheamus after the main event? What's he gonna do? Call him out? Really? Really?

I'm glad Randy didn't win. Now, he can go feud with someone else and stay out of the title picture as we have seen him, John Cena, Triple H and Edge in it too many times.

Nexus are pretty much done.

Again, you don't watch RAW, do you? They said that the difference between them and team WWE, is that they put their ego's aside, and stick together. Just because they lost, does not give Nexus another chance to attack.

The one thing I am pleased with is that Kane tombstoned Undertaker, and not the other way round. They got that right.

I wish Rey Mysterio turned heel. I wish he was the attacker.

But, this PPV promised so much, an all but definate Heel Turn from a Team WWE Member in the Main Event was a must.

Why?

the PPV has once again been an Anti-Climax.

No it wasn't.

Summerslam's and Wrestlemania's are meant to be the two Shows a year where we don't expect the generic Finishes, and want something more. Much like Wrestlemania 25, we didn't get it.

Summerslam is the second biggest PPV. Wrestlemania is the biggest event in the WWE. Wrestlemania obviously will have better matches. I think WWE made Summerslam awesome, and I liked the ending. I thought it was perfect for Cena's super hero gimmick. I think the whole PPV was awesome.

Hahaha no sir. Normally I won't believe myself either but I already checked the box reading "and this time I mean it!" under my goodbye note.

Yes, I heard how The SES lost but why did they lose? Since you don't seem to have a problem with this decision, can you tell me what was the purpose of having Show beat all 3 members besides burying them? From where I'm standing The SES was a great concept with unlimited potential but their inability to get anything accomplished ever is calling for a premature end to the group. We already know Show is a huge monster but SES hasn't had any steam since prior to WrestleMania and badly needed to prove themselves here.

OK, I know good and hell well Hulk was overprotected as was Austin. In fact I originally wrote that Cena was the most protected guy since Austin but I didn't want to set myself up for the good old "Duh" retort. Yes, Cena is the face of the company but he is not even booked to be human anymore. He took a DDT on concrete and still came back and beat the top two guys in Nexus.

They were thinking to make John Cena turn heel, but they weren't sure because Cena makes a lot of money for the WWE. I don't get why people like you can't understand that.

If Cena was just going to get the simple Win over the Nexus in the 7 Man Tag, then the World Title Match with Undertaker's Return should of took the Main Event Spot. Because this Match took the top Spot on the PPV, I was expecting a lot more to come from it. It was far too early for the Nexus to be beaten. They could of dragged it out a lot further by having a Heel Twist and a Nexus win, the same way they did at Invasion 2001. It's not that I don't agree with the finish, it's just because it took the Main Event Spot I expected a lot more to come from it.

Sooner or later they will need to turn him Heel, and there is only so little a chance to do it, as it will be such a big moment when it happens. Wrestlemania, or Summerslam looks to be the only Stage where such a thing could happen. Eventually, the longer they drag it out, the more clearer it will be that Cena will be turning Heel, and eventually, we will be able to name the exact place and time for his Turn, which will probably take away most of the Shock factor from it. I suppose Summerslam was the start of Cena's path to turning Heel. Giving him the win last night has freshened up his 'Superhero face of the WWE' Cena Gimmick, and when his Heel turn comes it will be even bigger.

No, you're wrong. I'm so happy that Danielson was the 7th man, now he can get that US title off of The Miz. Why would The Miz cash it in on Sheamus after the main event? What's he gonna do? Call him out? Really?

I was thinking perhaps the WWE Championship Match could Main Event, Orton could take the Title from Sheamus appearing to end the Show, then Miz come down with the Nexus, give the beat down and take the title from Orton. Now we will more or less get Sheamus V Triple H, and Danielson V The Miz.

Again, you don't watch RAW, do you? They said that the difference between them and team WWE, is that they put their ego's aside, and stick together. Just because they lost, does not give Nexus another chance to attack.

I hear what you are saying, but it wont be half as effective now as it was before Summerslam when they go around giving there beatdowns. They can't say they are the most dominant force in the WWE, now they have been beaten.

I wish Rey Mysterio turned heel. I wish he was the attacker.

You really don't. As much as it would give a new twist to things, would you really want to sit through weeks of Rey V the Undertaker? Rey, like Cena, is profitable, and they wouldn't gain much from turning him Heel at all. Taker will want to do little in the Ring after being out, and the bonus with another Kane V Undertaker Fued is they can rely on Promos alone to carry it. Plus, it will be a nice exit from the WWE for Kane if they decide to end it at Hell in a Cell.
