Dark Match Winner
I gotta say, I'm impressed. TNA's PPV "Lockdown" was damn good. I watched it Online because there was nothing else on plus I figured why not watch, and damn it wasn't that bad.

The crowed seemed really into the whole show, the Main Event for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship with Angelo Dinero and AJ Styles was really good, I love The Pope's gimmick, its amazing, the Flair-Styles gimmick is awesome, they played it very well. The whole time I'm trying to figure out why WWE let go of Elijah Burke... wow they missed something great there.

The crowed chants/battles were awesome, something you just don't see in the WWE anymore.

I might just start watching TNA iMPACT a bit more often...

If the size of the attending audience tonight (well into the thousands) wasn't proof enough alone that this company isn't nearly in such a dire position as so many would like to think it is, I have no idea what is.

The answer for TNA is simple, and it's been simple for some time now: Get the fuck out of Orlando. Period. Everything about the iMPACT! Zone says minor league right down to the size of the building, to the asshole Cancer Crew who show up to ruin the show week-after-week. Success hinges on branching out, and branching out alone. The rest will write and sell itself.

Lockdown 2010
Date: April 18, 2010
Location: Family Arena, St. Louis, Missouri
Commentators: Taz, Mike Tenay

So this is the annual let’s make the cage match like any other match show which is an idiotic concept if there ever has been one. Depending on how the two major matches go, this could be a great show or terrible. I’m not sure which yet but we’ll find out. The main events are Lethal Lockdown with Team Flair vs. Team Hogan despite neither being in the match and Pope vs. AJ which has been pushed down almost. Let’s get to it.

The opening video is based around fearing the cage. Simple but effective.

Doug Williams isn’t here due to the Iceland volcano so he’s been stripped. Sean Waltman might not be here either. Oh great.

Rob Van Dam vs. James Storm

Both guys are in Lethal Lockdown later so I guess this is a warm up match? Remember that everything is in a cage tonight. The arena looks full and great. Can’t beat that. Isn’t the point of a cage match to be, you know, in the cage? RVD beats Storm up on the floor because he can I guess. He’s busted open when we get into the cage. Cage looks great. Everything looks great actually. Definitely the best crowd and best looking show they’ve put on that I can remember.

It’s ALL Van Dam here so I’d put money on him losing somehow. I love the holes in the cage that can be used to see in. It helps with the camera work tremendously. Split legged moonsault connects but no cover. Ok then. Storm spits beer in Van Dam’s face and hits a DDT for two. Superkick is countered into the Frog Splash (it makes sense in context) for the pin. Nice opener.

Rating: B. Pretty solid stuff here and a good choice to open the show. Van Dam is very solid to say the least and this worked fine. I’m liking this show thus far. Remember who is saying that. Although, hopefully it doesn’t get really bad in the second half like Destination X did.

Hogan talks about how Team Hogan has been getting beaten down pretty badly lately. He says you don’t run people over with a car. That’s true. You use a Semi Truck Brother! Hogan says that if his team gets destroyed he might leave TNA. Hmm I wonder if that’s foreshadowing.

We get a bonus Xscape match where the winner is in the triple threat later.

Xscape match: Homicide vs. Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley vs. Brian Kendrick

So the idea here is just to get out of the cage first. Ok then I guess that works. It’s a Lockdown staple so that’s fine. I guess the tag match these four were supposed to have isn’t happening which is the best I think. It turns into a total spot fest of course but did you really expect much else? That’s what the X Division is supposed to be though.

Also this is FAR more logical than the tag match would have been. Also this is more logical than a 6 man match which would have been a total clusterfuck. With a match thrown together and being meant to do nothing more than fill in a spot due to a last minute change, the crazy bunch of spots is fine. This is rather short with Homicide winning. Homicide wins after the Gringo Killer. Yeah that’s a great name to use.

Rating: B-. Not bad here and it did exactly what it was supposed to. Williams not being here saved us from a REALLY illogical tag match so I can’t really complain. Also, the MCMG continue to job. Who would have predicted that? Oh wait.

Kevin Nash vs. Eric Young

Young has to win here but he won’t because of the Band. Young is wearing some kind of green tights. Ok then. Apparently Hogan has told Hall that he has to get a partner tonight or he goes it 2-1. Ok then. I say that a lot. Nash is dominating for the most part here but Young is getting some stuff in.

That’s fine with me as they’re going with the traditional formula to get to the Young comeback. No problem there. And Nash just hits the powerbomb to completely kill Young’s credibility. This show is a success even if nothing else happens.

Rating: C. Too short to be good but not long enough to be bad. That sounds like in the middle to me. I’m not sure on how quick this was but I’d go with Hall and Nash reuniting here. And a quick Nash promo says that I’m right. I smell Pac being there anyway.

We recap the Women’s Title insanity to get us here.

Knockout’s Title/Tag Titles: Beautiful People vs. Tara/Angelina Love

Ok so it’s your standard two singles wrestlers vs. tag champions. You know the rules I’m sure. Yep Tara is gorgeous. Velvet and Angelina start us off. Taz is rather annoying on commentary to say the least. Some nice double teaming from the BP there. Make jokes amongst yourselves. Tara pulls an Angle and totally misses a moonsault. Good to see that the accuracy is there still.

Angel is better in the ring than she’s given credit for. Madison takes the Widow’s Peak but Velvet makes the save. Lacey gets in somehow and drills Tara in the head with a belt to give Madison Rayne the Knockout’s Title. So that’s two straight title changes with the champion not getting pinned. Ok then. I do love the BP being the focus of the division. That’s intelligent and not sarcastic actually.

Rating: C-. Not terrible actually. Love is underrated in the ring and Tara is always solid. The booking is right here and we don’t get the wacky tag partners which is never any good. I’m rather happy for the first near hour of this show. I must be coming down with something.

Tara destroys Angelina post match, I think turning heel.

Team Flair and mainly Flair talks about how this is Flair country. Flair gets in his first funny line since being in TNA by saying that JB annoys him. That’s hilarious. He’s out of his wheelchair now. I have no problem with him doing the talking for all of them actually. Also he just cuts a promo rather than screaming like a crazy man. AJ says exactly what he would be expected to say.

X Division Title: Homicide vs. Kazarian vs. Shannon Moore

If Moore wins, this show sucks. They should have just gone with a one on one number one contenders match but I can go with this I guess. No belt here since it’s in Europe I guess. I’d bet on that being used in an angle which would make sense at least. They double team Homicide to start. Apparently they don’t take kindly to qualifiers in these here parts.

Taz points out that he’s a former wrestler. That’s a good thing actually as a lot of people might not know that actually. If you started watching post 2002-03, you’ve likely never seen a Taz match. Homicide hits Eddie’s triple suplex. Scratch that as he doesn’t get through the trio.

Homicide hits a SICK double Diamond Cutter off the top but can’t get the pin. Nice spot there. Taz says he opened up a can of Whoop Ass. He and Tenay laugh like idiots. Ok then. We hit the near fall portion as everyone is making saves. It’s clichéd but it still works incredibly well.

Pretty solid stuff so far in here. After a near Gringo Killer, Kaz hooks more or less a reverse piledriver for the pin. He had Homicide on his back and dropped down. That was sweet.

Rating: B+. Solid stuff here and it worked very well. There was nothing epic about it but nothing bad here at all. The absence of Williams hurt but you can’t fault them for that. I liked it pretty well and so did the crowd. Yeah I’m bumping this up.

Pope says that AJ isn’t styling at all. Then he talks about a restaurant. Was that good or not? I’m not sure.

Team 3D vs. The Band

It’s Hall and Nash in case you missed it. And it’s not a cage match anymore but a St. Louis Street Fight where falls count anywhere in the building. Uh, sure why not. This actually is a major match given the teams in it so points for that. They start on the ramp and the Outsider’s Edge is blocked.

We’re in the crowd already. 3D said no one came to see a match but rather a fight. That makes sense at least. If the Waltman no-showing thing is legit, good riddance. The crowd is definitely making this show much better.

We’re back in the ring now with D-Von all by himself. What’s Up hits on Hall. 3D through the table ends this. This was almost a squash match. Well I didn’t expect that one at all.

Rating: C+. Pretty decent brawl here. I was really surprised at the ending though as Hall just took 3D and got pinned. It looks like they’re pushing 3D towards the tag titles again which is the epitome of a head scratcher but whatever. Decent enough match since I like 3D so there you are.

We recap Anderson vs. Angle which needs to be blown off for good tonight.

Kurt Angle vs. Ken Anderson

This is standard rules but Anderson has the key. Not sure I get the point to that aspect as it’s bound be thrown around sometime. Also, I’d prefer a regular cage match but this is fine I suppose. Anderson has the key around his neck. Ok he has a chain around his neck with the key around it but you get the idea. Anderson goes for the door like 30 seconds in and like an idiot, he forgets about Angle.

Anderson accidentally leaves the key in the lock so there goes the point of the ladder match entirely. Angle is bleeding BAD already. Tenay says it was bound to happen at some point. At some point? I think every match has had that so far. This is one of the feuds that I’ve really liked for the majority of it. Angle is WORKING in there man. He’s still one of the best in the world when he works at it.

There is blood everywhere. Ok not really but it sounds good. Angle hits his run up the ropes and hit a belly to belly. Love that. Anderson uses his wrist tape to choke Angle out which is rather brilliant. Solid match so far. Angle gets his Germans. That should be a bad porn movie title. He hits about 6 or 7 of them and Anderson is just about out of it.

Angle goes for the door but stops. Damn it Kurt don’t be fucking stupid. Ankle Lock is on but you can’t win by tap out. And there’s the Mic Check. Yeah I’m stunned too. Anderson gets the lock open but Angle gets the Slam. And Angle locks the cage again. Ok then. And he throws the key away. Anderson freaks, even though there’s no roof on the cage.

Anderson tries to get out but Angle gets a German OFF THE TOP ROPE! SICK spot. Angle sets him for the moonsault but goes TO THE TOP OF THE CAGE! And he hits it. Yeah Angle still has it. Angle gets a key from….somewhere, but Anderson flips the double bird and is able to get a Mic Check.

We’re getting close to overkill here. Angle catches him with the ankle lock though and Anderson taps again. I smell a broken ankle. Anderson reverses but STILL can’t get out. Angel finds a chain or the Warrior Medal and chokes Anderson out with it in a reference to Anderson choking him out in the ladder match on Impact before walking out. GREAT match.

Rating: A+. Yeah I said it. Great match all around and the ending made sense given the way Anderson won the ladder match. This has been a great show and it needed a great match to get it over the hump. It just got that. Angle is still one of the best in the world and he can bring it.

Angle says he’s taking some time off but when he comes back he’s winning the TNA Title.

We recap Pope/AJ, meaning they’re putting Hogan/Flair over the title match. I shake my head at that but the cage match buys them a lot of points.

TNA World Title: D’Angelo Dinero vs. AJ Styles

Hebner throws Flair out to start. If he stays gone, then sweet. We get the big match intros which it should get. Tenay thinks that Flair being gone helps Pope. You can’t buy commentary like that people! We start off rather well. One good thing about Styles is he can work just about any style you ask him to.

Pope can move out there so this is a solid looking match. Also, this is a good thing as you have two smaller guys with limited muscles in the title picture. That’s a legit alternative to WWE. AJ hits the forearm and the 450 but goes to the top of the cage and misses. Solid match so far.

The double knee hits and gets two. AJ reaches through the cage and grabs a pen from the camera guy. Uh, ok. And he jabs Pope in the eye to set up the Styles Clash for the pin.

Rating: B. Just a total letdown there at the end. I do not get the point in jobbing Pope out. For the life of me I do not get that. He match was solid though but after the previous match, the crowd was a bit dead. Still very solid stuff though and I can work with it.

We cut to the back and Bischoff is JUST GETTING HERE. Was he fly fishing in Iceland or something?

It’s time for Lethal Lockdown! The rules are just like WarGames but you can win by pin also. No mention of the cage top this time.

Lethal Lockdown

Team Hogan: Abyss, Jeff Hardy, RVD, Jeff Jarrett
Team Flair: Sting, James Storm, Robert Roode, Desmond Wolfe

Apparently Abyss is tougher than Austin. Robert Roode starts for the heels. Remember, if Team Hogan loses then Hogan leaves. In the words of Jeff Hardy’s old music, don’t you see the writing on the wall? Apparently Abyss has a hairline fracture of his hip. Sure why not? These matches are always hard to comment on as they’re mainly clusterfucks for the most part.

The faces win the toss based on RVD winning earlier which is STUPID but whatever. Van Dam is in second. So the faces beat up Roode for awhile because that makes perfect sense right? Van Dam is busted open from the previous match he had tonight. Wolfe is in next. Great to see jobbers getting PPV time. Jarrett comes in to make it 3-2 as I continue to shake my head at the booking of the main event.

Storm ties it up. Again, there just isn’t much to talk about in between the periods really. Van Dam is nice and bloody. We’re down to Sting and Hardy for those keeping score. And there’s no Hardy. Check the stairwells. Yep Sting got to him. And here’s Sting. Ah ok they are doing the roof with weapons thing. That’s a nice touch.

Ok so now pins and submissions are legal. It’s a weapons mess at this point now as you would expect as we kill time before the finish. Jarrett gets knocked to the floor and Beer Money follows them. And it’s thumbtack time. Abyss takes a beer bottle to the head to stop that though. I’d love to see someone sue for assault of something. What a great heel move that would be. And now it’s time for Hardy.

Jarrett gets a guitar shot from the top followed by a 5 Star to Wolfe. Sting gets chokeslammed onto the tacks and Jeff goes up top. He’s able to beat up both of Beer Money after being hit by a baseball bat. Sure why not. And of course there’s a table on top of the cage. Why not?

Jeff climbs a ladder and splashes Storm on top of the cage to….a mild pop. And there’s Flair’s music. Ok then. Damn it here comes Hogan too. Flair is BITING ABYSS’ HAND TO GET THE RING OFF! That is hilarious! Bischoff comes out now and he throws knucks to Hogan who beats up Flair. And he takes his shirt off to fall onto the tacks. Sure why not. And Abyss gets the pin on Wolfe of course. Why have anyone but the jobber job I guess?

Rating: D. This didn’t do it for me. The ending was just bad. Hogan and Flair were the focus of the angle. I get that. The point is they never should have been. This was to get Hogan over even more and to have him go over Flair. Seriously, has Flair EVER gotten a win over Hogan? Not that I remember at least.

Also, Hardy and Abyss are just fine after attacks like that? Really? We’re just supposed to go along with that? Sure why not. Either way, this didn’t do it for me. Pope should have won the title to end the show but hey, Hogan gets to shine in the end and that’s the important thing right?

Overall Rating: B+. The ending just took a lot of the life out of it, but this was a DAMN good show. Nothing on here is truly bad and there is a classic match on it which is a major thing for it. It gives you a thing you can point to and say see the show because of THIS.

The booking I question a lot for the last two matches though. Pope looks like just another guy at this point and AJ has…who left now? RVD I guess, but at a show like Sacrifice? Not sure on that one. Then again that match shouldn’t be happening here but whatever. Either way, DAMN good show and certainly worth checking out, especially the Anderson/Angle match.

I agree whole heartily with both posts: the ppv was really badass and they really need to move more and more out of orlando.

The crowd was so into the ppv, and seemed way more alive and excited than the Impact Zone group seems to be. Its fine to have a couple of ppvs a year in Orlando as that's their home turf, but they need to move Impact and the majority of their ppvs elsewhere. Sure, they only sold about 3000 tickets, but bear in mind that the Cardinals played a night game vs the Mets tonight, so im sure a TON of people went to that as well as stayed home to watch the game.(when the All-Star game was back in St Louis last year, announcers said that the Cardinals are a huge part of the city life)

Yeah, I agree. The PPV was pretty solid. I guess I didn't really dig the ending of the lethal lockdown match because I just don't think you can sell Bischoff as a face but other than that, I enjoyed it from start to near the finish. The Anderson/Angle match was shockingly good. I'm an Anderson fan but I've never really believed in his ability to have an epic 5 star quality match. Tonight might just have been the match that starts to vault this guy to stardom.

I also noticed right away that there were plenty off asses in the seats and it was a really great crowd. St. Louis has always had pretty good wrestling fans and tonight was certainly no different. Great crowd tonight and I really wish I could have been there.

TNA Lockdown was truly a great show, especially given all that happened before the show. Doug Williams is trapped in the UK due to the Volcano. Syxx-Pac blows off the show. So, two promoted talent called off/no showed the show and, as a result, affected a large portion of the PPV. But the way TNA handled it was great by having the Xscape Match (a staple of Lockdowns past) to determine the third man in the triple threat and by having Kevin Nash team up with Scott Hall for the tag team match.

The crowd was indeed red hot and a lot larger than what I even expected. And kudos to Kurt Angle and Ken Anderson for having one of the greatest cage matches I've ever seen in any promotion. The drama, the intensity, the psychology, and the insanity of the moves helped make that match one I won't soon forget.

I highly recommend getting or renting the DVD of this event when it gets out.

Oh my god! I spontaneously ordered TNA Lockdown tonight and I swear I just watched one of the greatest matches of all time – this match is what Wrestlemania should be all about. This match in my eyes becomes an instant legendary classic. This thing was unbelievable.

WWE Suit Guy

I loved the PPV top to bottom. RVD-Storm was a great opener. Was a little disappointed that Williams title run had to be cut short but the X title match was still great. Beautiful people were hotter than ever. And Angle-Anderson and Styles-Pope could easily compared to Edge-Jericho and Cena-Batista from mania. The crowd was into all night except for the X title match for some reason.

Just a really good PPV. And it looked like a PPV for once. Now I agree that PPV's should never be in Orlando, but the whole reason impact is still there is because it cuts costs having to transport equipment all over the country like WWE.

but yeah great PPV a must buy DVD for any tna fan. without a doubt their best ppv since hogan arrived.

This PPV was epic...I think Tara made a heel turn tonight, which is good for her...in WWE she was always better as a heel and I have thought that she should have came to this company as a heel. I'm a little bit pissed of that Syxx no showed...he busted his ass to get back in this company and now he does this? I don't get it. The Angle/Anderson match stole the show in my opinion...this match was flat out amazing. Good match for Kurt to go out on...I hope he comes back soon. The Pope/AJ match was pretty damn classic as well, though the ending sucked, The Pope needs to get that gold around his waist, he is a huge star who is over 100% with the fans, he has never held a World Title and deserves to have his abilities acknowledged...The Lethal Lockdown left a lot to be desired. I am a huge fan of Sting and have been for going on 20 years now, and the fact that he just stood in the ring for 5 minutes just watching and then laid on the mat for the remainder of the match was fucking stupid. This shit with the bat needs to stop, at some point Sting is going to be forced to wrestle and I hope to God it's soon...overall the PPV gets 4 1/2 stars from me...good job TNA

Lockdown, tonight was very good, * but maybe, Flair, hogan and Eric, at the end, might have possibly ''watered'' it down a bit, but I don't know yet.

Yes the crowd was very good, we had some great spots tonight.
And I would highly suggest watching Impact, I love WWE, and I don't really even watch much of Raw anymore.. Only to see Bret, and the occasional Cena beatdown..

This was the first time I've ordered a TNA PPV, and based on tonight, I'd do it again. Even if every other match was awful (which they were not), the Angle/Anderson match would have been worth the price by itself. Angle's moonsault off the cage was sick, I thought he was gonna land outside the cage! The wrestling, the psychology, the ending, it was 2 pros putting on a hell of a performance. Match of the year candidate definitely.

I thought the AJ/Pope match was good, although I was a little disappointed by the ending. I know that Pope might not be ready for the title, but I'm afraid that they're setting up an AJ/Abyss title fued, which I really don't want to see. But if they also have a Pope/Wolfe feud, maybe even with the global title involved, it might make up for it. And you have to give TNA credit for dealing with situations beyond their control in a solid manner. All in all, a very good effort from TNA.

I was very happy to have dropped $35 for this tonight. Angle/Anderson was match of the night IMO. But Taz/Mike acting like Angle just pulled a key out of his ass made me scratching my head. After he threw it I saw him clutching his hand. My dog doesn't fall for that trick anymore. Maybe they were trying to go for him really throwing it, but come on.

Pope/Styles I liked. I wanted Pope to win this one. I was screaming at my tv at both of the near falls at the end.

This was an absolutely great Pay Per View. Even the worst match (Young-Nash) told a story and had a purpose. It was also the best that Nash has looked in a very long time.

Furthermore, the crowd was great. I read someone suggest it was 3,000 but that crowd was at least 5,000 more like 6,000. If you looked, 2/3 of the lower bowl was full and the entire camera-side upper deck was packed. That's a 10,000 seat arena that was more than half full, so there was a strong and boisterous crowd on hand.

Angle-Anderson, what more can be said? It, to me, is the match of the year thus far. Just amazing. Anderson, as the loser, can be legitimately vaulted into a world championship feud, that's how good it was. He's going to be TNA's top heel if he isn't already.

I was a little annoyed at the ending to Lethal Lockdown focusing on the non-wrestlers instead of the guys in the ring but that didn't dampen my enthusiasm too much. I just hope to god that this doesn't set up a fucking Abyss title shot over RVD or Jeff Hardy. That would be absolutely idiotic if one of their top major acquisitions didn't take the belt from AJ after he has been the champ this long. Repeat: Abyss sucks. Put him into a tag team with Foley where he belongs.

If Impact begins to make more coherent storylines to follow up this fantastic PPV, TNA is going to be a true force to be reckoned with. Now get out of the IMPACT Zone and out into the country, even if it is only for pay per views.

Great show, great job TNA.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lockdown by watching a replay after having known the winners already. The storytelling was top-notch 'cept for the last two matches. A little as well for the RVD/Storm one, but was a great opener so it passed.

What the hell was up with Flair? WOOOO, WOOOO, TEE-AY-EHN?!! Tee-ay-ehn? Haha-ha.

No Baximus they taped off 60% of the arena the amount of tickets sold were slightly under 3000. But yeah overall it was a good ppv Anderson vs Angle was great. Lethal Lockdown was ok until the ending. Pope vs Aj was good but I hated the ending seriously pen stabbing. I was expecting Joe to return but perhaps at the next ppv.

Excellent show tonight. Probably the best show this year or at least since Bound For Glory. I didn't understand why Doug Williams was stripped of the title, but I really couldn't care less. I wasn't surprised Sixx Pac no showed. I guess Hall must of felt weird having his partner no show since he has no showed so many events in the past. Karma is a bitch.

I have to say the crowd was awesome. The crowd was into everything TNA dished out. Even though not all wrestlers got a great reaction, at least the crowd didn't chant bullshit or turn their backs on the wrestlers.

Rob Van Dam vs. James Storm: This match set the tone for the night with the fast paced action and the blood. The blood in every match has been overkill, but is Lockdwon so I can let it slide. I really thought that Team Flair would pull this win out to gain the advantage, but I could see why RVD won here.

I was going with Team Flair for the win but after hearing Hogan say that he would pack his bags if his team lost, I'm not so sure.

Homicide vs. Kendrick. vs. MCMG XScape match:
A lot of good action here. I'm glad Doug Williams wasn't apart of the show since we were able to see all four of these guys compete to face off in the X Division title match later tonight. The match was a little short and I was sad to see Kendrick lose. Homicide did do a good job though to make me care about him again.

Hogan tells Scott Hall to find a partner or face Team 3D alone. I'm thinking Nash will join Hall but Nash pulling double duty? since when did that ever happen. I just hope it isn't Bubba the Love Douche. He is a "trained" wrestler. Just because you have a wrestling ring in your garage doesn't mean you are a wrestler.

Kevin Nash vs. Eric Young: Eric Young actually got a little reaction. Still pretty shitty though. Nash and Young actually had a decent intense match. Eric got in more offense then I thought. Nash then got the clean pin though afterward. So much for Young's push. Can we now please forget about him. Nash says that he will join Scott Hall to fight Team 3D. Well we may have not seen The Band vs. Beer Money a few months ago, but we have The Band vs. Team 3D. I'm sure it will still be mediocre.

The Beautiful People. vs. Tara & Angelina Love: TNA Knockouts & Tag Team Championship: I never wanted to be a TNA cameraman so bad. This match was so so. It wasn't bad but I just don't know the Knockouts title has to change hands every week. Tara was the one who got pinned so Angelina didn't look to bad. Madison Rayne is the new Knockout champion until tomorrow probably. Tara finally turns heel against Angelina. Maybe her character will be interesting again.

Kaz vs. Moore. vs. Homicide: X Division Championship:
This match was pretty good and the crowd actually got into even though they had no idea who the wrestlers were. Kaz hit some pretty intense spots with his vicious reverse pile driver move. I just hope TNA gets some X Division wrestlers with charisma because Kaz, Moore, and Williams aren't enough.

Team 3D vs. The Band: I think Team 3D were the most over wrestlers in the building besides Flair. I don't know for the life of me why but St. Louis loves Team 3D. Bubba says this match will be a St.Louis street fight. Doesn't he say that for all of his matches? When they go to Helsinki does he say the match will be a Helsinki street fight?
Anyways, this match was better then I thought it would be. The crowd was really into it. I thought the crowd would crap all over it at first but they were loving 3D.

The match wasn't anything special with Team 3D giving the finisher to Hall through a table, but they definitely heated up the crowd.

Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson:
This may have been said before but I thought this was the match of the year so far for TNA. This might sound crazy but I would put it up there with HBK vs. Taker at WM26 if it wasn't Shawn's last match. Angle proved he was the best wrestler in the world tonight. I really don't care what anyone else says. The man may have had some personal problems and not be 100%, but he can still put on a great show.

Anderson impressed even more using old school heel psychology that I haven't seen in ages. Anderson may not have all the fancy moves in his arsenal, but he cemented his place as a main event player tonight. I didn't understand why the wrestlers could only escape through the door but I guess the key would be worthless if they couldn't. The key was still pretty worthless though. Kurt hitting a suplex off the second rope was vicious but nothing compared to the moonsault off the cage. We haven't seen that since his feuds with Benoit.

I seriously thought Angle was dead. The camera angle was scary as shit. It looked like Angle was going to hit the moonsault outside of the cage at first. To top it all Angle landed on Anderson's head. For both of those men to walk out of the cage is a miracle after that spot. The ending left me on the edge of my seat. I really thought Anderson had the match won. I was glad to see Kurt win even though a small part of me wanted to see Anderson walk away the victor. Anderson looked great even with the loss.

Angle said he would take time off. After a match like that he could take a year off or retire, and no one would think less of him. Angle said his sights were on the TNA Heavyweight championship. It should be interesting to see who the champ will be at that time.

AJ Styles vs. The Pope: TNA Heavyweight Championship:
The crowd was red hot after the Angle vs. Anderson match. It would still be a tough act to follow for AJ and Pope. Pope really didn't receive a huge reaction and neither did AJ. AJ did receive a lot of cheers for hitting the Pele kick and the Styles Clash though. That is the problem with AJ no matter how good or bad he is at being a heel, he will always get cheered for his moves. AJ won the match with some cheap tactics and the Styles clash.

I know some people might be mad at AJ retaining, but AJ is still in the early stage of his heel persona. It probably won't lead to much but it shouldn't be ended so soon. I also don't think Pope is anywhere near ready to be the champion. I'm sure one day he will be but it is way too soon. I don't think AJ made The Pope look weak in this match. I just wish it lasted a little longer. The match wasn't spectacular but still a decent main event.

Lethal Lockdown: Team Flair vs. Team Hogan:
Bischoff had shown up late to Lockdown! but he has probably been here all day though. Since AJ retained there is no hope for Team Flair to win here. Team Hogan has the advantage throughout most of the match, but Team Flair catches up. Sting takes out Hardy early on. Hardy comes out last and climbs up the cage with Beer Money. Hardy hits the twist of fate on Roode and sets up Storm on the table. Hardy then climbs the ladder. Sound Familiar?

I guess when you don't have AJ Styles in the match taking spots, you have to give it to Hardy. Hardy jumps off the ladder onto Storm through the table on top of the cage. I guess it would of been better if it were a Swanton, but I'm just glad no one died. Flair comes to the ring with a huge ovation followed by Hogan and Bischoff with a mild ovation. Flair rips his shirt and Hogan knocks him into the thumbtacks. Sting also took a thumbtack bump, but he wore a t shirt this time.

Bischoff and Hogan teased a heel turn before hitting Flair. Damn. Abyss gets the win with no reaction what so ever. Abyssamania runs wild again! awful. The Lockdown main event was a let down this year. It was really long with nothing special going on. It was also painful to see Abyss and Hogan run wild. I really hope Abyss or Hogan turns heels because I can't stand Abyss as the Mongoloid Hogan Ripoff.

I have to say the PPV was solid though. The Lockdown main event itself could of been better. I really wanted Team Flair to pull through but I knew Hogan's team would prevail. I'm excited for tomorrow night. Maybe we will find out where the hell Joe is. We also may never see The Band again which is refreshing. Anderson looked great and Angle went out with a bang. The X Division match shined also. As long as tomorrow night doesn't revolve around Abyss it will be fine.

Best PPV in months. Great job TNA.

I was at the show tonight and yeah....it was great. the building, from one side of stageside to the other, was about 3/4 with people peppered on the the camera side. Crowd was split during the Pope vs. Styles. I was pretty happy with it overall.

The PPV was fairly typical of TNA over the last few months: Good action, some solid feuds, a seemingly needless title win thanks to a foreign object, awful Knockout booking and then a decent enough main event that is ruined thanks to Hogan and Flair trying to overshadow things.

I'm not a TNA hater. If you've seen any of my posts on the TNA-related forums you'll know this. I was one of the strongest defenders of the Hogan regime for the first few months, highlighted all the positives. I think WWE has a lot to answer for and needs to address many issues, so I'm not a fanboy of either promotion. I'm simply a wrestling fan with some opinions. I think all three of the top companies, in addition to several of the indies have obvious good and bad points.

Now we've got that out of the way, back to Lockdown.

I think the better plan for dealing with the Douglas Williams situation would have been to combine the two X-Division matches into the traditional Xscape match. You had two guys from the triple threat and four guys from a tag match, rudimentary maths tells me that's 6-men, the normal amount in the Xscape. Have the winner be the number one contender and face Williams in a few weeks when he arrives back. I say a few weeks because it's quite likely that he'll miss both the live impact and the following taping, so it'll be two weeks at least before he's on TV.

Still, both the X matches were good, so I can't complain about that, I just think it's a bit hasty to take the belt off him when he was at the start of a really nice, and different title reign, and they could have written around his absence. If anything it would elevate interest in the eventual title match.

I guess they gave the faces the advantage just so we didn't see it coming. Every time the heels have the advantage. So well done for that... but it just didn't work out. Faces in a 2-on-1 is just wrong.

The Hall/Nash/3D/Eric Young thing was what it was. Not much anyone can say here.

The womens match was a clusterfuck for lack of a better term. It's just being poorly written. It seems it's being made up as they go, with zero long term plans in place. Why take the belt of Tara in a match where she wasn't pinned, put it on Angelina, and then two weeks later take it off her without her being pinned either and put it on the unproven Madison? If they wanted her to take the belt why not just scrap the title change that came in between and then when Madison pinned Tara, it would have been legit. I don't know if they still have an agent in charge of the knockout division, but it doesn't feel like it. It feels like they're getting secondary attention once Russo's finished with all the guys. For a division that used to be so well booked to become like the Divas division is just sad. The matches are normally always good, just the storylines are lacking.

Kurt vs Anderson was really good and I'll defend Angle going over despite having time off. Undertaker has done this more often than not since he started taking his annual time off. Angle needed to win this feud because he's been destroyed in almost every encounter they've had. Seemingly every week Anderson carved Angle up and it needed to come full circle. Someone I know said that Angle is praised for putting over Morgan, Wolfe and Anderson but hasn't lost a PPV match to any of them. Wrong. He lost the first PPV match of this Anderson feud that started it all and so logically needed to win this one. Big spots, both nearly died, epic ending with the tapping out and the walking over him after choking him out.

Finally the ending... the match was so-so. The ladder and table on top made for a cool moment, but I'd rather they didn't just inexplicably have the ladder and table be on top of the cage. Just do like AJ and jump from the roof onto a crowd of wrestlers or something. Otherwise, ok match.

HOWEVER

This is two in a row where the Hogan/Flair situation is treated as more important than anything else and gets to be the focal point of the ending. They're big stars, yes, but I maintain that a wrestling audience in 2010 doesn't want to see Flair vs Hogan. Feature them by all means, but they are getting more camera time than is needed. It's precisely what I said wouldn't happen when Hogan arrived, and I don't like being proved wrong. The Hogan involvement has really hurt my enjoyment of the TNA product and I only pray that this serves as some sort of blow-off, but I fear that's simply not true.

I don't think TNA are in trouble, I don't think they're going to be dead by 2011 (any more than people said they would be every damn year), I don't think Hogan coming in will be a mistake in the long-run, but over the last few months it's overshadowed the product and that's a mistake.

Damn it I so freaking badly wanted Homicide to win the X Title screw you TNA. The rest of the card seemed like a three hour edition of TNA with a cage.:disappointed:

i loved the show last night. the lockdown ppv is the only one that I get every year. why is everyone bitching that pope lost last night. that actually surprised you? he's only been a m.e. player for a couple months. give it 3-5 more months and he'll be champion...maybe taking it from Angle after he returns and wins the gold.

was surprised that Tara was the one to turn last night. really thought that Velvet not Madison would win with Angelina rejoining them.

but overall the show was great and they did a pretty good job of covering for Doug...who when he's finally able to get back will imediately be in a fued for the XTitle or will come in sayin it was an act of god that caused him to miss the PPV so he conciders himself the true Xchamp.(or something along those lines.)

anways great job last night and looking forward to tonights impact

I watched Lockdown last night Online and to me I was not impressed. Only 2 Good Matches were Angle/Kennedy (Anderson) and AJ/Pope. Why Oh Why did Hogan & Flair have to interject themselves in another Main Event? TNA really has no faith in the Guys that are actually in the Match. The Rest of the Show seemed Rushed and they were just trying to get through it IMO. What was the point of having Angelina win the Womens Title only to lose it at the PPV? I will say the St Louis Crowd was decent,I wouldn't Hot all night but a Fair Crowd anyway. I dunno TNA still has tons of work to do if they really want to be on WWE's Level.

I didn't think it was a bad show overall, I was disappointed in the TNA title match. The ending was stupid the match itself could of been better. I didn't like the ending to the lockdown match either. They really need to focus less on non wrestlers like Hogan and Bischoff. They Angle-Anderson match was great by far the best of the night. The only problem I had with it was Anderson should of went over. Angle's taking time off Anderson would of benefited more from the win.

Sean Waltman not showing up was for a personal reason and TNA knew that ahead of time. They said he just didn't show up as a storyline...read below

http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/TNA_News_1/article_40737.shtml

The Torch has learned that TNA wrestler Sean Waltman had a personal reason for not attending last night's TNA Lockdown PPV in St. Louis. He gave advance notice to TNA that he would be unable to make the PPV.

The belief backstage
was that Waltman was not cleared by the athletic commission in Missouri to wrestle. Waltman is reportedly not in trouble and he is not fired from the promotion.

His personal reason for the no-show is not related to drug abuse issues and he is expected to be at today's Impact taping in Orlando.

During the Lockdown broadcast, TNA created a story to write Waltman off the PPV that he missed the pre-show call time and no-showed the event. Waltman was scheduled to team with Scott Hall against Team 3D.

Caldwell's Analysis: TNA had to cover for one of their more recognizable performers not appearing as advertised on the pay event, but they seemed to throw Waltman under the bus with the storyline explanation on the PPV. TNA's tone suggested there was an immediate personal problem that caused Waltman to no-show, which could have fueled concerns over Waltman's health based on his history of drug-related issues and clashing with TNA management. In reality, TNA knew ahead of time Waltman would be no-showing.

I thought it was the best show they have put on since Hogan showed up. Was it one of the greatest TNA ppvs of all time, top to bottom I would have to say know. My major problem is where do they go from now with the top of the card. The only feud that seemed to be set up was Sting v. Jeff Hardy, which I actually am a little excited for. Who is next in line to face AJ being that the other main singles match winner isn't going to be around for a few months and also can't face aj for the title for the entire year. Another problem I have is that they proved that their number 1 contender matches don't mean anything cause if you didnt notice MCMG didn't get a title shot. Also, where was Morgan and the tag titles? Finally when you have the faces in charge and making the matches they control all the power which basically puts the top heels in a horrible position. A Bischoff/Hogan power struggle feud would have been an excellent storyline. Last they missed the boat on Joe coming back for this ppv

This was the second TNA ppv I have ever ordered, I believe, the first being the lockdown with Christian vs. Abyss, and LAX vs. 3D in the electrified cage which was the dumbest thing i have ever seen in all my years of watching wrasslin (the last point is debatable but that shit was ridiculous). I am not a TNA hater, I don't watch the product often but I thought they did a nice job with the PPV last night. I purchased it because of RVD, Angle vs. Anderson, and Styles vs. Pope.

RVD vs. James Storm, good first match, I like both of these guys. James Storm has a good look and I have always dug him, they had a solid opening match and it was an excellent selection to open the show.

The Xscape match wasn't awful but I just didn't dig on it. I hope the MCMG go the E and get a good push as a tag team. That is alot of hopes but hey, it could happen. They were the best thing in the match. To be hones 187 look fat, and little fat guys aren't great, he needs to drop some lbs., also I can't figure out exactly why but I think Brian Kendrick looks pathetic, he is even small and wimpy compared to other X-Division guys, lift some weights bro.

Kevin Nash vs. Eric Young

I actually think Nash looks pretty solid, he can still go a bit as long as he doesn't get hurt.

Knockouts

Whatever, it was alright, don't care about women's wrestling but there's is better than the E's. good looking women but Von Erich can't even hit a bitch with the belt properly.

X Division

It's a nice match, Kaz wins, eh, this guy is alright but haven't they tried to push him like 1000 times and it never quite works. Good for him, but one other thing how the fuck can they just strip Doug Williams when everyone in Europe is fucked, the match should have been for the number one contendership not for the damned title.

Dudley Boyz vs. The Outsiders

Not a bad brawl, Dudley Boyz 3D Razor Ramon for the win.

Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle

Great match, 5 star, these are two of the best in the biz. The moonsault was the craziest fucking thing, like an inch or two and he could have seriously killed Anderson with a knee to the throat or head, that shit was sick.

Damn good match it was extremely impressive. These guys put on a show and I dug the ending, it was an effective way to let AJ cheat and win, pen to the eye, damn that would hurt.

Lockdown

This match was ok, I don't think Jeff Jarrett has anything to offer anymore, I just don't think him as a face in TNA right now is worth a shit. Also Ric Flair did the most fucking ridiculous blade job on himself at the end of this match. Watch it you can see him going to town on himself life 5 or 6 times with the fucking blade like a god damn axe murderer. I thought that was unnecessary and just further proof to me that Ric Flair is kind of a sad old man. He shouldn't feel the need to butcher himself for a 3 minute spot at the end of a PPV, him and Hogan's presence was useless, also I never dug on Abyss, I mean he has been around and done enough that he can be in big programs but he just isn't main event level. Too fat, just not there, what was Sting's purpose I just don't even know what happened in that match, it was a clusterfuck to say the least. That's not enough area for 8 guys to work well, Christ WarGames was in two rings under a cage.

Overall nice PPV got me more interested than I was before. I think keeping the belt on AJ is the right move for now. And please Ric stop buthcering your old ass face.
