Yeah - I agree on Helms - if only because of the age old 'have the winners lose on that weeks show before they win on the PPV' schtick.

It's a pity Amy's gone as I felt she was sooooooooo sweet and would have been another Stacey Kiebler/Lillian Garcia IMHO. But, as the articles say, she was as thick as ditchwater and hadn't much backstage savvy.

Heh, for the sake of my WWE Fantasy team I hope there's an impromptu Victoria Mickie James match for no other reason than to help ME.

Anyway - more on the matches.

While I agree on MVP and KK winning their respective matches can anyone see some post-match whaling happening? Could both BoD's 'disappear' and return as a Tag Team later in the year? I can see it now...Regal mouthing off on SD some weeks before the PPV, belt on his shoulder, about how he and Taylor are the greatest etc etc, and then *BONG* *BONG*, and the atypical Regal double-take. Noone can do stunned in the ring better than Steven Regal Esq.

For some reason I think Batista might turn heel. The main event just seem's like a normal Smackdown Main Event. I just cant see a normal match happening. Does anyone really expect for Cena and Batista to win and that be the end of the show? Something intresting has to happen.

Batista could turn on Cena for the sole reason that Cena did not help him on SD last week when Finlay and King Booker beat him down with the chair and shillaighly. This would be an interesting twist but it is unlikely, Cena and Batista is over too much with most fans but it would be a good start to get the fans to hate Batista since he is going to do a "certain something" at WM23.

Altogether i think this PPV is going to disappoint. The inferno match will probably be nothing compared to the other 3 and be very short for a gimmick match. The Miz/Boogeyman match is a joke, Yang/Helms match could be good but of course it will be no longer than 7 minutes, and the two tag matches are pretty predictable.

The U.S. title match could be great if it is longer than their last match at SS and the Last Ride match will most likely be the best of the night IMO.

i think it would be great if batista turned heel, but he is smackdown's number 1 face, and i can't think of anyone to take his place.

I was thinking about ordering this one, but im not gonna because the main event sucks imo, and the only match im interested in is taker vs kennedy. kane vs mvp might be good but for some reason i see its gonna be a letdown.

but you never no, im also thinking this ppv might surprise me and could be one of smackdown's best of the year

To be honest, I think Kane will win the inferno match, have him loosing, 2 feuds in a row will just make his character meaningless.

However this time off stuff, Kane denied it, it's the same him retiring next year, it was all rubbish.

Lets hope WWE do the unusual, and let Kane win for once.

i think after that ppv we have to start asking.... was Armageddon one of the best ppvs of 2006? other obvious candidates are WM22, No Way Out and Unforgiven

jeeze, i have got to say i am really impressed with wwe for this show. i started off thinking it was gonna be an average ppv with a couple of good matches, but nothing great.

The last ppvs have really sucked IMO- cyber sunday, survivor series wasn't great, and december to dismember. This made up for those IMO, and i hope wwe sticks with this, and turn NYR into a great ppv.

final words- great job wwe, and im surprised smackdown had one of the best ppv's of the year

yes it was a great PPV, but yes the main event wasn't that great. IMO it didn't matter though, beacuse i was still excited about the matches that had happened before it. I also think that everyone knew the main event was gone be awful so i didn't get my hopes up

i didn't watch the ppv, but from what ive read it looked really good. lots of entertaining matches (i would have loved to see the ladder match + taker and kennedy match, and the other matches sounded pretty solid.
of course the main event is going to be awful, if you take the title out of the match and have guys like batista and cena in there its gonna be the worst match of the night. i dont even know why they made the match. if they want a good main event then put someone like benoit in the title match, if he wasn't already in the stupid fued with chavo

This ppv was probably the best with Wrestlemania and Unforgiven this year. Started of great but it really finished with a horrible uninterested match of Cena and Batista agaisnt booker/finlay. Ithink the only reason they did the match because they ran out of ideas. They had aready done Batista vs Finlay, atista vs Booker, Finlay vs Booker vs Batista, so they just stuck john cena to make it a pointless tag team match. Other than that, the ladder match was one of the best gimmick matces I have seen this year by far. The Joey Mercury nose bust was one of the grusemist (sp) scenes I have witnessed, the amount of blood pouring from his nose and eye was unreal. The inferno match should have lasted a little longer, but I was pleased with it, and gregory helms vrs akio was also a strong solid crusierwight/mat wrestling match. 9/10
