Occasional Pre-Show
I have not see a thread for this or many relevant topics so I thought I start this. Mods - Please move/merge if necessary.

This is the order I record it will play out in

Triple Threat #1 Contenders Match
Hideo Itami vs. Finn Balor vs. Tyler Breeze

I am expected Itami not to feature due to injury. He will be replaced by a debuting Uhaa Nation. Finn Balor to pick up the win but all look impressive through. This could end up being match of the night.

Emma and Dana Brooke vs. Bayley and Charlotte
I think the faces will pick up the win, Bayley pinning Emma. Dana Brooke will attack Emma at the end for making them lose. I think Dana will work on Bayley for lots of the match.

Baron Corbin vs. Rhyno
Expecting a competitive hard hitting match, hopefully they will get more than 5 minutes. Corbin to win but Rhyno to shake his hand and put him over after

NXT Tag Team Title Match
Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Blake and Murphy

A fun match with lots of silly antics. I doubt the match quality will be very good though. This is the hardest match to call. As Carmella has seemed to remain with Enzo/Cass recently this will lead to her turning on them or being involved very little. My concern is where to Blake and Murphy go after? As much as I love Enzo/Cass keep the belts on Blake and Murphy for a returning Vaudevillians face turn and feud.

NXT Women’s Title Match
Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks

This will be awesome. I can see this being very aggressive. I fully expect Sasha to retain here but Lynch to look impressive despite defeat.

NXT Title Match
Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

Owens will retain but not sure if he will win the match. I can think of 2 scenarios. 1 - Owens gets counted out but remains champion. Regal will then announce right after the match Owens vs Zayn in a No DQ title match next live event. A cage would traditionally be better but can't see it happening on NXT. 2 - If Owens wins clean by pinfall Cena will come down to the ring for a stare down after the match to finish the show.

What are your thoughts on the card? Who do you think will win?

NXT has done it again! These Takeover events never fail to entertain. Unstoppable featured great matches and, while not the best Takeover event I've seen, delivered a show that you should definitely check out if you missed out on it.

Finn Bálor VS Tyler Breeze in a singles match for the #1 contendership to the NXT Championship
What awesome entrances we had here. I do still wish we could have gotten the triple threat, but Finn and Tyler put on a solid opener here. Looking forward to our new #1 contender's upcoming title match.

Bayley and Charlotte VS Dana Brooke and Emma in a tag team match
This went about as I expected it to. Dana's still green but she is improving. The other three did very well. Charlotte's main roster promotion has to be coming literally any day now, so I won't be surprised if this was her final NXT event.

Baron Corbin VS Rhyno in a singles match
My least favorite match of the night, but despite the low expectations I had for it, it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Nothing amazing here.

Blake and Murphy VS Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (with Carmella) in a tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship
Genuinely shocked by the results here. There is no way I would have predicted Enzo and Cass didn't leave with the belts. Alexa's alignment with Blake and Murphy gives her something new to do, although I'm not thrilled with this direction. If anyone should have aligned with the champions it should have been Carmella.

Becky Lynch VS Sasha Banks in a singles match for the NXT Women's Championship
WHAT A MATCH. This is easily a contender for the best NXT divas match in the brand's history. Really wanted to see Becky get the win, but there's always next time. Excellent effort by both girls.

Kevin Owens VS Sami Zayn in a singles match for the NXT Championship
Not surprised by how this one went. Owens coming out in the Cena shirt was unexpected and I liked Regal getting involved when he did. A good finish to a good show, complete with a certain somebody making their debut....

Final Thoughts
If you missed this show for whatever reason, then once you find the time for it, you should go watch it. Other than Corbin VS Rhyno, each match is one I recommend. Especially the Women's Championship match (to see what women's WRESTLING should truly be in the WWE) and the main event due to.... well, watch the show and see what happened there at the end. :) Again, not the best Takeover ("R Evolution" might never be topped) but a highly entertaining night for any wrestling fan.

1. Finn Balor vs. Tyler Breeze: NXT Championship #1 Contender's Match - A good match to open the show with. I didn't think the match was overly spectacular, but I thought it was a very solid effort on the part of both guys. One little thing I like about Breeze's character is his overreaction when he's frustrated because it seems to fit with his character; he's a "male model" after all and it's stereotypical for models to really blow up whenever they don't get their way. There were some good near falls here & there, especially after Breeze hit his finisher. I didn't expect Breeze to win, but that moment gave me a little pause. Balor coming out with the win was no real surprise, but good match all the same. ***

2. Charlotte & Bayley vs. Dana Brooke & Emma - Nothing overly spectacular here, but a solid showing for all the ladies here as they worked hard. Brooke's come a pretty good way in a short amount of time and I'm personally glad to see Emma ditching the dancing routine. If Bayley makes it to the main roster, I can honestly see fans embracing her as her character's just...well she's just sweet and likeable in a genuine way. Charlotte & Bayley get the win after Charlotte hits Natural Selection on Emma. **3/4

3. Baron Corbin vs. Rhyno - While I know some weren't into this, I've read some reports from writers who just weren't into it, I enjoyed this match. I had no real hopes for it going in, but I thought they delivered a solid, physical 8 minute match. The live crowd was also really into the match, so that helped things out and kept the energy level up. I didn't really know who'd come out on top here, which also helped the match in my eyes, but Corbin comes out with the win via End of Days. Again, I thought it was a good match that overperformed. **3/4

4. Blake & Murphy vs. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy for the NXT Tag Team Championship - Generally speaking, I think the weak spot in NXT has been its tag team scene but, all in all, I thought this was a strong match and Enzo looked a lot more competent than he has in past matches. Blake & Murphy are getting some nice heat, especially since they're coming out with their hair done in pigtails. The match told a good story with both teams working hard. The ending came as a bit of a surprise as we saw Alexa Bliss come out and attack Carmella, distracting Big Cass and the ref, allowing her to move over to Enzo, who was perched on the top rope ready to score the win, and push him off the top, allowing Blake & Murphy to retain. ***

5. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch for the NXT Women's Championship - This was a helluva match; there've been a lot of strong women's matches in NXT but this one MIGHT top them all. The girls told a great, old school story without sacrificing any of the energy or action of the match and I especially like that they both kept the focus on attacking each other's left arm throughout. Both gals looked like a million bucks, delivered a fantastic effort and their stock went way up in my eyes. Becky Lynch's flexibility impressed me as, at one point, Sasha bent her left arm to such a degree that it actually caused the crowd to gasp, I don't see how she didn't tear her rotator cuff quite frankly, and both of them sold each other's offense perfectly. I thought it was one of those bouts where it was a shame that someone had to lose because the effort from both girls was just flat out there. I had no real doubt that Becky would come up a little short and that's probably the only think that hindered this match in terms of how great it was, but the action and storytelling most definitely made up for it. The crowd giving Lynch a standing ovation as she was in the ring, selling her arm and her disappointment, was well deserved. ****1/2

6. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn for the NXT Championship - While not as good as Banks vs. Lynch, this was another strong match with strong storytelling by two guys who work extremely well together. Zayn continues to look like the Daniel Bryan-esque, passionate, scrappy, fearless babyface while Owens comes off as a cunning, meticulous sociopath who uses his "family" to justify everything he does. Owens' mocking of John Cena off & on through the night, including wearing a Cena shirt to the ring, was a nice touch and kept their pending match at Elimination Chamber in mind. Regal's interference was a nice touch and Samoa Joe's sudden appearance was completely unexpected. I also liked how Owens sold his surprise in that he looked taken aback, yet he didn't try to attack Joe and I thought it fit with his character perfectly; Owens has repeatedly said that he only fights on his own terms, when the situation is suited to his liking, so Joe's sudden appearance had him thrown off his game and attacking him without preparation would've resulted in Owens probably getting his ass kicked. ***3/4

Final Thoughts - While not as strong as most of the other NXT specials, this was still a very entertaining show from top to bottom. I thought Banks vs. Lynch absolutely stole the show as they delivered arguably the greatest women's match in WWE history. The main event had the difficult task of following that match, but Owens & Zayn still delivered a helluva effort. The rest of the card was very solid, nothing overly spectacular, but a series of good, entertaining matches. The sudden debut of Samoa Joe was a big surprise and when you consider the slow build that all these matches have gotten over the past few months, it makes you hope and pray for the day that we'll be able to see this sort of pacing brought to the main roster if/when Triple H becomes the one calling the shots. I know it'll be far more difficult, maybe even impossible really, when you consider the monthly ppv format and how important said format is to the foundation of the WWE Network, but MAYBE it can be pulled off somewhere down the line [BIF/WHEN[/B] the network gets the sort of sustained subscribers and enough interesting original programming to where monthly ppvs aren't as vital to sustain the network as they currently are.

All round was a great card as ever, and once again was better than the most recent main roster PPV.

One thing I am really starting to like is these Takeovers are not just finishing feuds or for title changes as much. There are surprises and twists which are leading to even longer feuds.

If Zayn does really need surgery this is the best way for him to take time off. I really hope he gets one more shot and becomes the first ever 2 time Champion, maybe in a no DQ match as I mentioned before the event.

I watched the first ever NXT special on the WWE Network and haven't watched any NXT since. Until last night that is. So here's an outsider's review of what I saw last night. I won't go too much in to in-ring work as one night won't give me a real idea about who's actually good.

*** I don't know what they're feeding the divas down there but they need to ship that shit to Connecticut ASAP. THAT is how women's wrestling should be presented. I fell in love with Becky Lynch before her match even started and after the match she was my new favorite "diva" on the ENTIRE roster. Don't really get the immense love for Sasha Banks but again, it's only been one night. I think all the girls did a tremendous job last night though. The only qualm I have is with Charlotte. Too much influence from her father with the "Woo's", the chops and the Figure 4 (Although she did make it her own and put a really unique spin on it). Again, I won't judge on just one night, especially since it was a tag match and she was barely in it.

***I'm not sure why people are so high on Baron Corbin being called up to the main roster. He still looks pretty green to me.

***Tyler Breeze will never be a big player on the main roster with that gimmick. Doomed to Fandango/Brodus Clay status IMO.

***Enzo Amore could be a solid mid-carder when called up. He's got a ton of charisma.

Overall, amazing show. Love the smaller crowd and the way they get in to almost every single performer. Love the women wrestlers and the spotlight that is put on them. Lynch and Banks put on the best match on the card which is saying something when you've got Balor, Owens and Zayn on the card.

I will definitely be watching NXT from now on.

I can see Breeze becoming a decent midcard addition. Enzo Amore and whatever his partner's name is should do well too. The womens title match was outstanding, thank god WWE has finally decided to bring us real womens wrestling, it's about time! Seen too many fuckin bra n panties matches over the years and too many 'divas' with a pretty face who cant run the ropes, chain wrestle or take a bump.

Finn Bálor VS Tyler Breeze in a singles match for the #1 contendership to the NXT Championship
I am secretly a bit happy for Itami to not be in this, he's good in ring, but Bàlor and Breeze are much better characters.

Awesome entrances, great match, a bit annoyed by the fact Breeze seem to be stuck on a losing streak (he does always look a million bucks, even when losing, though, so whatever), but yeah, I understand that Balor is rightly hot right now and they're pushing him high.

Balor super-mario-stomping the back of Breeze on the outside of the ring was one of the coolest spot of the night.

Bayley and Charlotte VS Dana Brooke and Emma in a tag team match
Sorry, I don't care about Dana Brooke and she's not helping me caring about her. On the flipside I do love Emma as the bored and sarcastic heel.
The match was solid, altough as expected Brooke was the weakest link. It's a bit of a shame, that last spot would have been super awesome if Dana Brook wouldn't had messed up the timing.

Gets point for Bayley and Charlotte celebrating being the cutest thing evs

Baron Corbin VS Rhyno in a singles match
Baron Corbin wins... against Rhyno... and he still manage to seem extremely unimpressive...

You know what, I didn't mind Corbin at the start, he has a good look and a cool finisher, but oh lord he is completely unable to look as tough as he is booked to be.

I also didn't liked the finish, Corbin got a weird "scrappy underdog win" which really didn't fit. Would have probably looked a ton better if he directly reversed the gore into the end of days.

Blake and Murphy VS Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (with Carmella) in a tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship
Solid match. Amore and Cass complement each other super well and Blake/Murphy are actually coming quite well to their own, both character wise and in ring wise.

I liked the finish, but now I'm a bit confused on how we proceed from here. I can't really think of any good face team in NXT to face Blake/Murphy, and 4 more months of them vs Amore & Cass sounds unlikely.

Becky Lynch VS Sasha Banks in a singles match for the NXT Women's Championship
On the exactly opposite side of Dana Brooke, I didn't care about Becky, so she armbarred Banks until everyone in the world was basically forced to care.

Amazing match.

Kevin Owens VS Sami Zayn in a singles match for the NXT Championship
Very story-telly. Quite good. Also Samoa Joe *squeels*

Final thoughts: NXT one-ups itself once again. Brilliant show.

Finn Bálor VS Tyler Breeze in a singles match for the #1 contendership to the NXT Championship

Amazing entrances. Breeze never fails to make me smile. Balor well enough said, best entrance in wrestling today. Both men gave good accounts of themselves, and Breeze was a logical choice after Itami got injured. Best man won though. Balor will be fantastic when he eventually makes his main roster debut.

Bayley and Charlotte VS Dana Brooke and Emma in a tag team match

Love Bayley and Charlotte. Brookes and Emma found them rather boring, and even though Brookes is new, she has a way to go. The Diva's division needs Charlotte now, and why she's still in NXT is a mystery.

Baron Corbin VS Rhyno in a singles match

Don't see all the hubbub surrounding Baron Corbin, he has absolutely zero personality. He's decent in the ring, but so lacklustre. I guess I'm just not a fan. Rhyno I've always liked, and still can't believe that Corbin won the way he did, it was very sloppy.

Blake and Murphy VS Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (with Carmella) in a tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship

I would put Blake and Murphy in the same league as Baron Corbin. Neither man has anything going for him, especially when put up against Mr. Charisma himself Enzio. That Enzio is gold on the mic, and I can't wait to see him on the main stage "AND YOU CAN'T TEACH THAT". Stupid Alexia Bliss, well I guess they had to have something for her to do, since she didn't have a match. Enzio and Big Cass were well on their way to winning, and should have.

Becky Lynch VS Sasha Banks in a singles match for the NXT Women's Championship

Easily the best match of the night. The girls put on a clinic. Banks is awesome and Becky Lynch showed she can hang with the best. Both girls if they keep going the way they are, along with Charlotte and Bayley, will rejuvenate the WWE Diva's division when they all get called up. Just hoping that the WWE doesn't ruin them, and let's them put the same kind of matches on that they do in NXT.

Kevin Owens VS Sami Zayn in a singles match for the NXT Championship

Reports where that Zayn was injured, so not surprised to see this match go the way it did. Thought it was a bit much though that 5 ref's and another guy couldn't hold Owens back. Guess it took a debuting Samoa Joe to do it. Can't wait to see Joe and Owens in the ring together, it will be one hell of a match.

Final thoughts: Out of all their specials, this one wasn't the best. In saying that though, it was still better than some of the shows the main roster puts on. I'm not blaming the wrestlers, it's the person making the final decision's. These NXT shows really bring to the forefront that HHH is much better at booking than Vince is. We get 2 hours of great wrestling instead of 2 hours of promo's and fillers. I can't wait for the day Vince hands the reigns over to HHH and let's him cut loose.

this was probably the best live event they've had at least since i've been watching it. i'm finding NXT is starting to have better matches then raw or smackdown especially with the women's division. why none of them is making tv other than emma is beyond me. the only negative i found was the crowd. I don't see the fascination with Enzo and Cass. they put on entertaining matches but their gimmicks totally irk me especially the crowd marking out to Enzo's intro and repeating it verbatim. the crowd chants totally piss me off, but other than that, Take Over deserves an A plus..and i hope the *special appearance* leads to more appearances

Are you joking with me? Enzio's intro is great, and gets everyone going. Of course they all know it off by heart, the NXT fans are fantastic and it must be wild sitting there with that mob. I can't wait till an NXT show comes to Toronto.

So, I just finished this takeover, and I think it might be the best one so far. And I think that the secret is in the announcing. One specific example was when Joe debuted. They said, its Samoa Joe! And then they promptly shut the fuck up and let the drama in the ring matter. Raw would have had JBL and Maggle debating grammar.

Becky Lynch is phenomenal. Enzio and Cass are excellent in the ring, but their characters are nearly turn the TV off unwatchable.

Joes debut was great. I really like Finn Balor.

And I think Charlotte is overrated in the sense that there are much better women in nxt and wwe. She's really good, but she wasn't even the top two in her own match
