The Summerslam Poster Contest was a success! That's why Dave has asked me to make a new thread here promoting our next contest. In this contest, you will make a poster for the upcoming Night Of Champions PPV. Again, size limits on this poster are to be 400X500, and a watermark is encouraged on the poster. That way we know you're not just stealing it. Good luck to everyone, and we cant wait to see all of your posters. The contest starts.......NOW!

Doc Note:
Only one entry per person, please.

Oh joy, I'm the first post. :) Also, the watermark is on there but it's really hard to see. And sorry if the Kane match changes, I had do this early since school starts in couple weeks so I won't be able to get on a whole lot since I'm just entering college.

Alright, I decided to do this to see how far I have come in about a week of making sigs and such and obviously this poster is for Night of Champions and seeing that the WWE really only focuses on two titles (WWE & WHC title) I felt it appropriate to have that as my main focus.

First off I decided to go with a nightly background and found a cool tutorial on how toto create abstract wallpaper. So I just played around with it and eventually got it to where I liked it. I then thought that bottom was lacking so I found a sweet picture of a darken planet and thought it would fit well there. Next I added the lighting effect at the top to represent the moon since its suppose to be night. Then, I added the two images of the champs, Kane and Sheamus and played with the contrast (Sheamus needs to get a tan or something). I then wanted to add the other title holders but it looked to cluttered and decided to add there respective oppenents (I assume Undertaker vs. Kane) since WWE really doesn't focus on the other titles. I then ghosted them to where the background is seen coming through them. Finally I added the words Night of Champions and played around with the contrast and filters until it looked like the "moon" was lighting up the words.

Feel free to tell me what you think of it with a pm or whatever you feel like.

OK, so I started with random brushes, which I Motion Blur'd, duplicated, and flipped, to make that cool effect in the background. I know Taker and Bryan aren't confirmed opponents yet, but it's pretty obvious they're going to be, plus that image of Taker is just perfect for the poster. As for Barrett, he's the guy I want to win, and the one with the most to gain from winning, and is possibly the most important guy in the whole match. The WWE Championship should be the focus of every show, so I put him and Sheamus front and center.

I used Soft Light to blend the challengers in with the background, but with Barrett I duplicated it twice, turned the top one to black and white, and used Overlay in order to make Barrett pop out more and emphasize the lighting and shadows. I did the duplicate-desaturate trick with Miz and Kane as well, in order to emphasize light and shadow, but Sheamus just looked like a blob when I tried with him, so I left him alone.

I did a 1 pixel stroke on the logo. The text at the top is Copperplate Gothic. The "By The Doctor" at the bottom is Visitor -BRK- with anti-aliasing turned off. A 1px border finished it off.

To start it off I placed the NOC logo in the center of the poster and then made the background a solid black. Then I took three brushes and set them at a cooperish/gold and placed them at three spots on the post. I then took the midcard/tag champs (Dolph, Miz, Hart Dynasty) and set them to a mask and placed them on the left side of the three plots. I then took the Diva champ (Melina) and Womens champ (Laycool) and placed them in the upper and smallest plot. To finish it up I put the two world champs (Kane, Sheamus) and placed them in the remaining plot. Then for the realistic effect I put the date, time, and place of NOC in the bottom of the poster, under the logo. I also came up with the slogan "There can only be one...Champion" and placed that in the upper right hand corner. Font used was Dirty Ego.

This was actually pretty simple. I started with a white background. In a new layer, I set the brush color to gold, and used a spotlight brush on the sig. Then, I got a render of the Night Of Champions logo and put that at the top in a new layer. After that, in another new layer, I posted the render of Sheamus. The reason its only Sheamus here is because the WWE is known to only put one superstar on their posters. I then put the word "Sheamus" near him because the WWE is known to put the superstar's name next to them too. I added a border and I was done. I tried out this poster with other superstars in it, and just having Sheamus alone made it look so much better. Sometimes, simplicity is key.

OK, I'll be honest - I'm surprisingly proud of this. I came close to quitting halfway through because it was a bit of a mess but I'm glad I persevered.

Firstly, I couldn't find the Night Of Champions logo in a high enough resolution. Fuck it, I think, I'll make my own. Out of Rockwell, a little bit of Futura Md (coincidentally my new favourite font) and some lines. That should't have worked, for starters. It's meant to look like a staircase to heaven type of dealey. Not sure if that comes across but it looks good enough, right?

The only major problem I can highlight is that it takes up a little too much of the poster. Can't win 'em all. Added a touch of drop shadow because, well, why not?

The original idea was to have Sheamus at the front and his opponents to the side of him. I quickly nipped that in the bud. I could only make it work if the poster was landscape - and I wasn't sure if that was allowed. So I broke out a cut of Sheamus I've been meaning to use for a while and slapped it on there. Some jiggery pokery later that's so rudimentary you'd laugh at me - including a trick I haven't use in a while; outer glow - and you've got your ol' Sheamus done.

Same goes for the belt, really. Then just wrote the date and my name on it.

Obviously, there are blurs and gradients and filters and shit, but why would anybody be interested in that?

The concept is that it would be used as a series of posters. You could replace Sheamus with Orton, Barrett, Cena etc. Alternatively, you could have all the champions standing in front of their respective belts.

Well, there's my entry. I originally hand one planned out like Stinger but he beat me to the punch. Fortunately I loved how this turned out. I wanted to make Sheamus the main focus and found a pretty good picture of him to use. Used a couple of overlay blends on the 5 challengers and voila, this came to be.

This is one of my favorite posters that I've ever made. The main idea behind this was the word "flashy". Since the poster that I saw on Wikipedia was boring as hell, I wanted to spice it up. So, instead of using Kane, I chose a nice HQ render of Sheamus and blended it in. I smudged the BG a bit and also did 3-4 custom text additions. I added a few adjustment layers, and I'm really excited to see how this fairs!!! :D

Well i used some winterised brushes and set them to golden for my background. I got each render set them to a B/W gradient map and erased around the title to emphasize just what this PPV is all about. I placed the most important champions up front and set the other champs in the background of the image. I placed in a quote from Muhammad Ali about champions again to emphasize what the PPV is all about further. Personally i like it but it is probably the worst of them all. Please PM me your thoughts and opinions if you have any.

Well I kind of got this idea from last years (pretty similar) except I put the WWE Champion instead of THE WHC (last years). I made the background black and then used a few abstract brushes with the color gold to represent "GOLD" then I added the 5 other opponents in the 6 Pack Title Match. Put Cena as the main focus of the 5, since he is "The Poster Boy" of WWE. I put Sheamus' face larger then the others since he is defending the title. I liked it, but if i would put more work into it it would have been more EPIC. But this is simple and cuts straight to the point. I liked it.

I thought I would go the comedy route for this one. The first thing I thought of when I hear Six Pack is a fat guy watching tv with beer. So I took a picture of a couple watching tv and took a cut out of Sheamus and put it over the woman. I then found a picture of a Six Pack of beer and added little pictures of Orton, Cena, Jericho, and Wade on a can. I then put the Night of Champions logo and put it at the bottom. And I added a glow to the whole picture.
