New TNA Announce team?

I think one thing TNA desperately needs is a new announce team. They make the matches seem so boring because they are both play-by-play guys. Don West is HORRIBLE. Don West doesn't make the show seem like a legitimate wrestling show but more like some shit similar to "Battledome". TNA needs to fire the two of them and get a new announce team ASAP. Mike Tenay isn't that bad but his voice just screams WCW. When I hear of him all all I can think of is that horrible show WCW Thunder. He basically makes TNA feel like a WCW rehash. They need an original voice that defines them. I think Jeremy Borash should be the play-by-play guy and they should make a color commentator out of one of the older wrestlers on their way out. I think the color commentator should be either Kevin Nash or B.G. James. Both are great talkers who are up in years and don't really work well in the ring. Plus TNA seems corny having both announcers being in favor of the babyface. The color commentator needs to support the heels in order to add interest in the match. Another choice could be Shane Douglas if he would do it. I think TNA will benefit from this move because it will give them a new identity and make them feel less like a WCW wanna-be.

I voted for not really caring. I don't watch wrestling for the announcing teams. Its just like W.W.E. in that respect, I'm not going to quit watching Smackdown now that Coach & Micheal Cole make quite possibly the worst pair to date..

Don West over-sells everything, which makes it seem completely unrealistic & fake. I'm personally waiting for him to burst a blood vessel on national t.v., while on camera when hyping the matches. I think that'd be huge.

Mike Tennay is what's been pissing me off lately. The little computer storage unit seems to think he's more than an average announcer, & gets in the face of people like Jim Cornette when trying to get information on stuff that has no business of his concern.

I can't stand the guy anymore, as he has an attitude. Everytime I see him, I think back to when in W.C.W. Jeff Jarrett busted a guitar over his head, & then he threatened to sue Jarrett. (I believe Jarrett killed the attorney's with guitars too) I just want Tennay to receive something horrible on t.v., like a guitar shot, or Angle snapping his ankle. Hell, even an accidental piece of Judas' glass to fly off & drill him in the face. That might shut him the f*** up.

Overall, they need to tone the "passion" down a bit, because over-selling everything to make it seem better than what it is, is only telling the world they believe their audience are brain-dead morons.

I HATE Mike Tennay. Hate him.

I don't care much for Don West either, but I would take him over Tennay.

All Tennay does is, as was said above, get in other people's business. And he always tries to call out the heels and shit. And like recently in that Abyss interview, Abyss was screaming and getting in Tennay's face, and Tennay didn't even budge or act scared...that completely killed that interview, making it seem like Tennay wasn't intimidated by Abyss, who is supposed to be TNA's big monster.

Anyway - I agree that TNA needs a new announce team. But honestly, I doubt we'll get one.

But for the record - out of all current WWE & TNA announcers, Mike Tennay is my number one least favorite. And Don West would probably be second-to-last.

I voted Hell Yeah, Don West blows. I mean common man, hes ment to be colour commentator, and all he does is speak over everything, like if there is a backstage attack with like Abyss or someone, West will be screaming at the top of his lungs, repeating himself over and over. And as for Tenay, the man doesnt even call the wrestling moves, its pathetic really. But to be hounest, who would be good replacements for them?

I voted that I don't care, simply because I always loved Tenay's "history lessons" about the guys in the ring...and Don West...he's a crazy fool, and the fact that he does over-sell everything makes me wanna watch the show because he is hilarious when he gets too excited.

Other than that, who the hell watches wrestling to hear the announcers anyway?

I mentioned that Borash could replace Tennay because he seems to know his shit and doesn't give us all painful reminders of the WCW Thunder days. As for the color commentator I think B.G. James or Kevin Nash would be a good fit. Both are good talkers who can also be pretty funny sometimes which is a must. I hate the way how both announcers kiss the babyface's ass. There needs to be conflict between the two commentators in order to make the matches more interesting.

TNAs annouce team is proaly one of the biggest drag downs of the company. The constant screams (not that Tenay screams he just make weird noises) and the sheer annoycane of Don West who quite frankly should be fired and left to run a car dealership or on a shopping channel! Both need to go, Tenay is alright and bareable at time but West pft no chane. He cannot commentate and everything he says you can tell hes reading. And why do they add thier little two cents everytime theres a promo? Anywho! Keep Tenay maybe and a Heel Commentator or perhaps Cornette?

I agree, tenay is horrible, Don is annoying too, but not as much as Tenay. They just dont shut up, and scream at the tops of their voices for no apparent reason. I think they need to try out some new pbp guy, with someone who knows what they're doing on the color, there are a lot of guys backstage in Tna who can do be great at doing color, Scott D'Amore springs to my mind, he can be entertaining and tell stories just as well as anybody else.

The problem with the TNA announce team is that people keep comparing it to what they are used to. Now given, Don West does not play the role that he should be playing of heel color commentary guy, but then again there lies another problem. If Don West actually played the role that he should be playing, then people would get mad that he doesn't interfere or wrestle like Taz, JBL, or Jerry Lawler. In order for Don West to get better, he has to start playing against Mike Tenay. mike Tenay is they goodie two shoes know it all and it should stay that way. But Mike needs to get tough, he needs to get fierce. He has the distinctive and annoying voice that could rank him among such legends as Bobby Heenan and Jerry Lawler. Not saying that he has the expertise or the background, but he can be groomed to do the job, as Taz was. But if push came to shove and they needed to replace him, I think that Scott D'Amore would make a commendable home grown choice. But West should still be given a chance to explore the heel side of his character first, before they make a change. It may just turn out to be a good change.

my idea for a good TNA anounce team would be Paul Heyman and Mike Tenay. With Tenay as the goodie goodie face and Haymen as the heel commentator that would be a pretty solid team. Haymen is one of those guys that that when he portrays a heel manager or announcer he does it very well and i feel like he would mesh well with Tenay, and plus Captain Obvious Don West won't be there, so that's a plus.

I voted, "Hell Yeah! Don West BLOWS!" Like everyone's already said, Captain Obvious kills the show with his constant, repetitative screaming. And Mike Tenay as the play-by-play announcer with balls is completely ridiculous. He's the play-by-play guy, not some hot shot reporter. He doesn't need to get into peoples faces. More importantly, he should run from or get destroyed by a 350-pound monster like Abyss. I would replace them with Borash and Nash.

Thats what I been saying. Borash would give TNA an original voice since people don't associate him with any other promotion. They need an original voice. Nothing against Tenay but his voice just screams WCW Thunder. I think Nash would be great as a color commentator.

Don West is a frickin' nightmare! But the worst thing, the very thing I absolutely cannot stand about him is the SQUINTING!!!! He always looks like he has the sun right in his eyes and/or the worst case of incurable hemorroids. And that's not even talking about his commentator skills, or lack thereof. HE HAS TO GO!!! I can't believe there isn't one aging wrestler back there to take his place and do a better job. As for Mike Tenay... Well... I agree about the problem with him playing the badass. When 350-pounds Abyss is threatening to kick your ass, at least do try to cringe or squirm in your seat, do something that would lead us to believe you are genuinely uncomfortable! As a pair, they suck! As individuals, neither of them is good enough to keep his job. This would pretty much sum up Don West: >.<

Don West is horrible as a color commentator. I say replace him with Shane Douglas or Raven. Both have attitude and mic skills, and people know that they are two of the more spectacular heels of all time, so when they bad mouth a face during a match, fans will feel like it's the good old days. For Mike's spot, I'd try Bob Backlund maybe. Bob's always been good on the mic, and his knowledge of wrestling firsthand could give him a unique way to call a move, as it may give him a flashback to when he did that same move.

Don't blame Don West for being the announcer there. He doesn't know anything about the position. He used to sell baseball cards on the Shop at Home network. Don't blame him, blame TNA management. Blame Mike Tenay for sucking so much at what he does that it actually makes Don West worse.
