New ECW Faction

I read RVD's interview with the UK Sun where he discussed the WWE ruining the new ECW. After watching last nights Impact and seeing Team 3D with Rhino and Raven reuniting with Dr. Stevie, it got me thinking, would a new faction of old ECW wrestlers work? The MEM is done and the World Elite may have potential, but isn't that strong, so there is a void of top heels.

Is this something that could bring RVD or Heyman to TNA? I'm sure they could bring Shane Douglas back as a leader or mouthpiece, although they all are pretty good on the mic. It could be done as an 'Invasion-type' angle and unlike the MEM, all these guys can still work and put on good matches.

I don't know if they would be on the level of the MEM. I mean you had several former world Champions, and even if they were old, they still had the respect. They would certainly be ahead of the WE who are nothing more than a group that seemed to just be thrown together for no other reason than creative had nothing to do with them. But honestly, how many people still get excited for Raven and Dr. Stevie? Raven will be in TNA for 2 months and then dissapear like usual. He is pretty much irrelevant in TNA today. Dr. Stevie wasn't much in the original ECW, he doesn't really get people excited. I do however like putting 3D and Rhyno together. I would love to see some guys like RVD, maybe even Justin Credible and Sabu join, and feud with TNA, maybe even Lashley claiming he disgraced the ECW name when he was in the new ECW or something like that.

HOLY SHIT if that happens in TNA that would be awesome though it was done before but Russo shouldn't have ran it and i am hoping they can get RVD and Heyman in there, you already got the small crowd arena then it will feel just like ECW, come on TNA its time to get Extreme

I referred to them as the ECW Old Guard earlier, regarding Rhino and Team 3D, but absolutely if you are looking for another heel stable, bringing in Shane Douglas as a mouthpiece for the "Old Guard" and perhaps RVD would most certainly fit the bill that TNA is running with regarding how they are treating the feud with the Old Guard and Morgan/Hernandez.

It's very similar to the MEM/Frontline (Millionare's Club v. New Blood) angle in that it deals with the veterans not wanting to give up their spots to the younger generation wrestlers, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, IMO.

I don't see the connection with Raven and Richards, though. That faction will live on it's own if you ask me, to continue the feud with Abyss – who let's face it – without them, would again fall into obscurity again.

As long as they aren't taking the main event space, I'd be all for a Tribe of the Extreme stable. Personally, I like a little dose of hardcore every now and them. Maybe TNA can provide that since WWE is stuck on puss mode.

As an old school ECW die-hard, I must say: I'm really against this. It's too obvious, and would spoil a lot of fringe-fans' image of the old ECW. It just pushes it further and further from relevancy, and that just can't happen.

The original ECW was fantastic for what it was...It would not work today as a company, and it shouldn't be attempted as a stable. It has bad news written all over it.

Team 3D and Rhino working together is fine. To most casual fans, and younger fans, they're most known for their time in WWE and TNA anyway. For Raven and Stevie, they're known for their time in ECW, and Raven for some time in WCW. They're known for being hardcore, and being great talkers. They've been working together a long time, and it's great to see them together.

Meshing them all together is just a bit much though.

May we please just let ECW die a painless death, rather than flog it's body some more?

Look, I love ECW, but for the love of God, and I hope people get this:

There's never going to be another ECW again.

I mean, if Paul Heyman ever wants to get involved with TNA, you may get me a bit more excited. But there will never be such thing as the old ECW ever coming back. ECW was really a one of a kind promotion, and the feel of the audience is what made it so spectacular. The best of the Impact Zone's Crowd is nowhere near as good as the shittiest night in the ECW Arena. You want to bring back ECW, you're going to have to entice all of the fans of ECW to come back, and create that same atmosphere. And ECW fans, being the smartest brand of fans in professional wrestling (See: JMT and NSL. God, way too many initials.) are smart enough to realize you just can't recreate that feeling. I'm tired of people chanting ECW at events, and I'm tired of watching old ECW brethren re-unite to get a cheap pop. It's not the same, and it never will. Please, just let ECW have it's moment in history, and don't tarnish the beautiful history of ECW.

I agree with Tenta. ECW should be like WCW, spoke about when reflecting on wrestling past but should not effect current wrestling decisions. When team 3D and rhino are fighting together, they're not bonded by ECW, it's because their afraid for their jobs. This could be a great storyline if TNA pans it out this way, playing on the recession. With TNA going the way their going, this could be the metaphorical storyline showing their progression.

What would they call it. WWE has the rights to ECW & I wouldn't be surprised if they copyrighted the word "extreme." If this happens it shouldnt be an invasion, it should be a takeover almost like an extreme nWo. They could easily fued with Abyss, Samoa Joe, etc.

This would be an awesome idea.
They've had some great hardcore matches lately and from a couple of ppvs, so it would work well with the ECW guys. i really wouldn't like them bringing in Balls, Sandman or Shane Douglas. They're just not like they used to be.

Now that 3d has joined with rhino talking about the young guys taken them out, and with kurt giving the young guys props and nash working with beer money before the suspension its seems like thier respect agenda has gone to 3 mid-carders in Team3d and rhino and my question is How does this elivate Super Mex and Morgan. And When Bubba started that promo on thurseday i just started laughing cause when i saw those 3 in the ring with what they were talking about its just screames MID-CARD MAFIA!

For the record, I am not in favor of an "ECDub" faction. Rhino and 3D working together are fine, but there is no reason in 2009 to put them together with Raven, Stevie Richards, Tazz and Foley, never mind bringing in Sandman or Sabu or Shane Douglas.

But possible names if they continue to "put over" things that happened ten years ago rather than things in their company today:

The "Bingo Hall Boys" are back in business!
BBX Bringing Back Extreme
HHH--Heymann's Hardcore Henchmen

MID-CARD MAFIA is the exact same thought I had when I was watching that!

Part of me would like to see en ECW reunion stable put together, even if just for a short term program. Especially if RVD decides to join TNA, that would give them a main event guy to lead from the top.

To answer your question, I think this feud has really solidified Morgan as a strong babyface, as he was still tweening before this started. Also, it looks like they are turning 'The Pope' babyface aswell. So this will help put him over.

On a side note: How good was it to see Dinero give Brother Ray a nice fat shiner at Turning Point? I LOL'd

It would be great to see and good viewing , but it could only run for a limited time as people would get bored with the whole new extreme group as there are all has beens also.

If they did a fued with the world elite would be intersting but i wouldnt get my hopes up of a hardcore faction on TNA. I think the NWO is more likley with Hogan and Nash already in TNA , it wouldnt take much to get Hall in TNA as he is washed up somewhere and could get some decent money form a comeback
