Rey Mysterio returned tonight for the first time in 18 years to Mexico and the company he debuted for in AAA. After the many delays to the "Rey De Reyes" iPPV including the tragic accident on Tuesday morning (30 staff members injured, 1 deceased), the show finally took place. Sadly all the events caused what was originally a 15,000ish attendance to drop to near 1000 maybe even less.

The point is Rey Mysterio returned, teaming up with Myzteziz (original Sin Cara) to face and defeat Pentagon Jr. and Perro Aguayo Jr. Mysterio secured the pinfall on Pentagon after hitting a Canadian Destroyer of all things and may begin a feud with Cruiserweight Champion Hijo Del Fantasma (King Cuerno).

Lucha Underground has been an expected destination for Rey as per all AAA talent, most notably Alberto Del Rio are bound at some point for the LA sub-promotion. The fact that Rey resides in San Diego makes the case fit more. Overall Rey looked to be in fine shape. Much as he was in recent years. Though, he does tend to hide his bloated abdomen under shirts still.

By the way, nice job covering a tragedy, dirtsheets.

For Rey's sake I really wish he would call it a day. I'm worried the guy is going to end up in a wheelchair one day and nobody wants to see that. He has made his money, made his legacy - he has nothing left to prove.

He'll be far better now in AAA and LU than he was in WWE. His schedule would be so light between the two compared to WWE, that it will take off a lot of strain from him. He would be wrestling once a month or even lesS for AAA and LU is two tapings every so often with an off season looming.

Not to mention he looked to be in very fine shape at the PPV. He skipped no beats.
