My best friend and I spent our first week of uni touring the eating and drinking establishments around the house we shared.
The second week I spent in Rome seeing all the sights of the Eternal City and attempting to drink my body weight in beer on a nightly basis in a little cafe just beside my hotel that turned into a bar at night.
The best night was sitting with a German called Hans, a Pole called Pieter and his daughter Katrina drinking as much beer as Hans could buy us while trying to answer the questions from the Italian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" that was on the TV. A personal highlight was being able to answer the 1,000,000,000 lira question - What was the name of the only Englishman to serve as Pope? Hadrian IV
After 15 pints and staying up til 4am chatting to Katrina, I retired to my bed only to get about 50 mins sleep as we were travelling to Pompeii early the next morning.
Nothing like experiencing an almost perfectly preserved Roman town at the foot of a still active volcano in the blazing heat while still blitzed
