No it won't.

I thought it was where you got the signal from, so I thought it changed depending on where I logged on...This is good info to know...

I actually told my friend to not sign up, because he lives nearby and has wireless, and we're often on the same network...I can tell him ti sign up now :D

All a wireless router does is take your Internet IP address and broadcast it. That's why if you get three people on your network all downloading something at the same time, it slows down your internet significantly.

But yeah, it doesn't give different IPs.

If you are sharing the same network, coming from the same Internet source, then you will have two people on the same IP address.

I'm a computer idiot...This basically means that if my friend signs up, and uses my computer, it'd show us as alts? Is there any way I can cover myself for this?

It really depends on what your internet source is. If you're sharing a home network, then most likely yes, you'll have two accounts on one IP. However, if you're sharing a large business network, it's possible there will be many IPs being broadcasted.

The best thing to do is see what your IP is before signing up.

I actually signed up on this computer that I'm on now. It's at my job, and there's over 100 computers throughout the hotel, all on wireless. I use my laptop from home once in a while, and I also use a desktop that's part of a home office, but that's a rarity...

So wait, if I use wireless, and the guy next door signs up and acts a fool, I could get banned because we share an I adress? Lol. Good thing I have wired internet... i just hope my roomates don't sign up, which I doubt will ever happen lol

It depends on where that wireless is coming from. Like I said, it's possible that, given the large amount of usage, that you have several different IPs being floated around. You'd just have to check.

That's why you always encrypt your home wireless network. If you leave your wireless network open, and someone steals your internet, not only are they taking speed away from you, they can also do illegal things on their computer, but it be your internet account actually doing it.

This is what I do :)

Nothing illegal...Just steal from my neighbors...And job...
