Morgan & Magnus

Occasional Pre-Show
I know he is currently working with Samoa Joe, but would Matt Morgan & Magnus work as a team?

For me I would say yes, they were both at one time Gladiators, Morgan was Beast on the new American Gladiators, and Magnus was Oblivion on the British Gladiators. And if they were to build the team around this idea, I think it would work.

While on paper it sounds OK, it would be similar to when Morgan was teaming with Crimson. I have know doubt they would make a formidable team, Morgan should focus more on being a single wrestler again. Magnus is doing pretty well as half of the tag champs in TNA and as the champ in Ring Ka King. Don't see the two of them pairing up anytime soon.

I guess it could work, but Magnus is one of my favourite guys, and when he's done tagging with Joe I think he'll go on the singles scene. I really hope he gets a push, maybe a main event push is a bit too much to ask for, but to be contending for the TV title would be nice. He really is the total package. I dunno if anyone remembers the impact six man tag main event he was in but I feel he really held his own with the main eventers.

But I guess he's got plenty of time. As for Morgan he's been boring me for years, really needs to get some new moves and get repackaged. Also I don think I'd play on the ex Gladiators thing, that show is a bit too cheesy IMO, and I didn't really like them putting it on Magnus when he first came along.

Personally, I'm over Morgan in the tag team scene. I guess when I really think about it, I was never all that crazy about Morgan as part of a tag team. He had shitty partners in Hernandez & Crimson, had mediocre title runs with both guys and engaged in even more mediocre feuds with them.

I'd much rather see Morgan get back to singles action. Morgan is someone that has always seemed to be on the verge of being a substantial singles force in TNA but, for whatever reason, they've haven't pulled the trigger. The usual pattern has been to build Morgan steadily & solidly over a period of months and eventually put him in a program against the TNA WHC. Morgan has a few matches against the champ, loses, then immediately disappears from anywhere that's even remotely close to the main event picture and the whole thing starts all over again.

I'm with Jack-Hammer on this. I want nothing to do with having to watch Matt Morgan yet again get singles shafted and thrown into another tag-team for the sake of keeping him busy. I know he has a ton of detractors here, but you can't teach size, and size absolutely matters. Morgan has it in buckets and needs to be given the opportunity to prove he can hang there. If he can't you worry about it from that point, but there's only one way to find out, and I find it hard to believe he wouldn't at the very least make for a great television champion.

i agree with this 100% i think matt morgan needs to atleast become tv champion if hes still fueding with crimson then why not have crimson beat devon for the tv title then morgan can fued with crimson over it and eventullay beat him for it? personally i think matt morgan is the best big man in the business today but the problem i have with him is the way he wrestles makes me think he needs to turn heel and stay heel he could be a great monster heel possibly better then abyss was back in the day sense he can also cut a good promo as for magnus i say keep him teaming with joe these two men work really well together and could be a main stay in the tag team divison for years to come.

I have always been surprised TNA haven't ever gone with Matt Morgan as World Champion. I am not a massive fan of the guy, never have been, but I think he could do a good job and change my opinion of him if he was ever given a good push in the singles scene.

As IDR and Jack Hammer have posted, Morgan always seems to be on the verge of success and then the push gets scrapped and he is forgotten about for ages, before another push starts and ends up going the same way again. I definitely think he should be at least the TNA TV Champion, he certainly deserves it far more than guys like Devon and Robbie E. Then, if he is a success at that level, give the big man a real run as a main eventer, I do think the fans would buy him as a credible challenger to Roode.

As for tagging with Magnus? I think it would work, probably as well as the Magnus/Joe tag team is working right now. Magnus has a lot of potential, he has really impressed me in recent months and I definitely see him having a good singles career once this tag-team run is over. But for now, I would keep Morgan away from the tag ranks, and get him into a feud with Devon for the TV title.
