MMA in the Bar room!! *In memorium of JMT and TDigs' thread*

I'm actually worried the Ronda Rousey is too good for women's fighting to become a popular aspect of UFC. No doubt it's fun watching Ronda Rousey knock the shit talkers the fuck out with the straightest of straight faces, but it doesn't make for a very compelling fight. All I know is that we're now going to have to wait several months until Rousey fights for another 30 seconds.

So apparently pissing Rousey off by making fun of the fact that her dad committed suicide is not a very good strategy... unless you're trying to get her to knock you the fuck out :lmao:

I heard she knocked Bethe out, and thought "Well, duh", and then saw the highlights.

It's been a long time since I've seen even a man fall flat like that.

So to people who know what they're talking about: what happens if Rousey fights Cyborg?

UFC, Ronda, and Cyborg all get huge paychecks. If Rousey wins, she will eventually retire undefeated. Cyborg winning means the definite rematch, and more paychecks. Cyborg is also a much more beatable champion, since she's basically one dimensional. If Cyborg wins, and Rousey takes the rematch, then the trilogy fight breaks just about every MMA record for attendance and buys, methinks.

Rousey will most likely win, which is great for her, but it essentially kills interest in the division, since there is no one else that stands a chance. Tyson did the same thing to heavyweight boxing, until Buster Douglas came along and showed that Tyson was mortal.

Some of those punches that landed on Conor were insane, and even more insane in that he took them like he did.

I really hope Aldo is next, and something doesn't happen again. That is coming from a die hard Frankie Edgar fan.. I think Frankie would be too much for Conor, but I want to see what Aldo can do first.
So Edgars too much but Aldo isn't? Im sorry but that's nonsense.

Uh, we are a bit past that already, since she is easily their top draw :lmao:

I do think however, that we are getting to the point were Rousey will be looked at, legacy-wise, as someone who was 10 years ahead of her time as much as she was individually great. its becoming clear that not only is she great, but on the other hand, there is simply no one close to the same level as her.

I'm just happy the argument hasn't started that "She's not that great, the rest are just that bad". Watching other fights, within the division, there's been some quality there. They just all kneel at the altar that is Rowdy Ronda Rousey.

Jedrzejczyk moved into the Top 15 of the Pound-for-Pound rankings...finally. Can't wait to see her next defense.

:lmao:

This fight is going to be like 20 seconds long. Holm hasn't been impressive at all so far in the UFC and Ronda's elite ground game is going to ruin any shot Holm has at the title. Just call the fight now because Ronda has this in the bag.

She may as well be fighting someone off the street.

The only limitations of how fast this fight will be are gonna be the physiological limits of how fast a human body can move.

It will not exceed one minute. Itll be near miraculous to go past 30 seconds.

So Edgars too much but Aldo isn't? Im sorry but that's nonsense.

I never said Aldo wouldn't be too much. I personally think Aldo would win. However styles create fights, and Frankie Edgar has wrestled his way to victory in the past unlike Aldo.

I think Frankie would be too much for that very reason, Chad managed to take Conor down and keep him down before gassing. Frankie doesn't get tired and has never been finished before. He also has a wrestling pedigree equally as good as what Mendes has to offer.

I don't think it's nonsense to see that while Conor is a better fighter then Mendes, he was held down for a significant portion of the fight, call it lay and pray, but it was working until Mendes gassed. Part of me would worry that Frankie keeps it standing as he has tended to recently, but I honestly think Frankies speed and superior grappling game would be the answer (no pun intended) to McGregor. Remember people once thought it would be nonsense to think Frankie would beat Penn.

So Joanna is gonna co-main 195 with Rousey.

Shit. Yes.

Holly Holm is so not ready to step up to Rusey. This is going to be ugly.

But not nearly as ugly as Joanna rearranging Gaudelha's face (if she's healthy).

Tate v Nunes may be the best overall fight of the three, if Dana can make it happen.

Uh yea....Because its going to be much, much more extensive.

She was talking all this shit last UFC and I was like "oh, you wanna do WHAT?"

:lmao:

Joanna is just insane, and I truly enjoy watching her fights. She's going to have a few fights before there's a legit contender.

Rousey/Holm moved to UFC 193 November 15, 2015 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

That's what you get when you remove a ban on cage fighting. I wonder what the UFC would give New York if they did the same?

If they somehow managed to do it quick enough, CM Punk would probably end up on the card for his first fight

95% certain I'll end up going to the Melbourne fight now. I was thinking that the only person that would definitely make me go is Punk but Rousey is out of this world in terms of celebrity and this kind of athlete comes once in a generation

I'm looking into how much it would cost for me to go down to Melbourne. I've been there before for one of the final Storm games at Olympic Park and it's a great place to visit.

Only thing that could make this better would be if it was in Sydney. Would have been a couple hour train ride. Melbourne always gets the best things.

Is cuz we dah spurting cepiterl ov duh werhld bruh

Which is precisely why tickets for this will be 2-3 times as expensive as they should have been, especially now that Rousey is appearing. Everyone will now want to be there so they can stroll into work on monday and be like "i werz dair fer da ferght" which wouldnt bother me if it wasnt for the fact that they'll act like experts on the whole sport. Same shit happens with State of Origin

I'm ready for the Karl Stefanovic interview with Rousey. That's comedy gold right there.

Edit: Sam Newman would also be an option.

Jon Jones is reinstated in the UFC.

DC is fucked. This joke of a title reign is thankfully coming to an end once Jones decides to make DC his bitch just like he did the last time.

The champ is back!

When THE FUCK did these become SEVENTY FUCKING DOLLARS??

I was going order it live, but not for 70 got damn dollars. Shit ill find a way to watch it tomorrow and make time for it for that much :lmao:
