We're in the WZCW headquarters, and the interviewers are at a work meeting to decide which of them will interview each WZCW superstar.
Jonny Klamor: I want Black. The guy is on fire at the moment and I think he could offer some interesting insight.
Stacey Madison: But didn't you interview him already this week?
Jonny Klamor: That was Leon.
Leon Kensworth: Yeah, that was me - a fantastic interview, he really got into his innermost thoughts.
Jonny Klamor: Excellent, so will it be on Meltdown?
Leon Kensworth: No.
Stacey Madison: Oh so Ascension?
Leon Kensworth: No, on dot com actually.
Stacey Madison: But no interview with Black has been posted on dot com?
Leon Kensworth: Banks said we need to wait until the time is right.
Jonny Klamor: So we still need to decide who will speak to him on the show?
Leon Kensworth: Well, actually no. This letter arrived at 3pm today. It's basically Black's thoughts at present.
Jonny Klamor: So we can hear his thoughts without having to ask him to hear his thoughts on the matter?
Leon Kensworth: Precisely.
Stacey Madison: Excellent, lets read the letter.
Three.
The magic number.
It's almost exactly three years since I first came back to this company, and it's certainly been something of a long path to get here, but here we are, finally on top and finally in possession of the WZCW title.
They said there'd be no celebrations.
I understand that - they have nothing to celebrate.
They said there'd be no rest before the title defences started.
I welcomed that - I want to be the best.
They said there'd be no creative control for me as the champion.
Fantastic. It's what I've been fighting for.
Three rejections that have all been pretty positive. But among them was an invitation, and an invitation that had the potential to keep me happy. An interview to air my grievances and introduce me as the new champion.
Three hours of my life in make-up, getting my self ready and being interviewed by Leon Kensworth.
Three seconds is all it would take for the interview to be uploaded to WZCW.com, but it wasn't.
You know what was? Three. Three features about the Hollow Ones. A group of people that have never wrestled in this wrestling federation. This is a wrestling company and I am the world's heavyweight champion.
Three.
My reign has been three weeks long so far, and whilst I can at least get on Meltdown now, apparently, I can't really say much has changed. The commentators still can't decide whether or not they agree with me, nor can the fans and nor can my peers. It's a whirlwind.
But one consistent thing is the way that the three at the top have done everything to keep me silent. Sure, they sent Kensworth for the interview. Of course they did. But the reality is that this was never going to see the light of day until it became irrelevant.
Last week we saw Veejay give me a match, give me a challenge, give me an honest attempt, and I appreciated it. I won, but it was much better than having to beat Stormrage and Tastic again. That makes three different people I've beaten in title matches already, which is more than most other champions ever managed.
Three.
The old three heads of Cerberus have all been muzzled in the last few weeks, but Eve, titleless though she may be was always the brains and the beauty of the operation. I respect her. I respect most of our champions, but the fact remains that I am the best, and she is in a bit of a rut thanks to the title defeat. I could and would beat her at the best of times, I'll have no problem at her worst of times. But she's been a victim of Holmes' three.
There are three spectres hanging over this company - the monotony of Matt and Mikey, Vis Imperium and The Hollow Ones. I've vanquished the first of them, and at Lethal Lottery I will do so for good. For now, Holmes and co can keep away from me, and I'll keep away from them.
But Number Three, I have a problem with.
They interrupted my moment of glory with Tastic and Stormrage. And now they're stealing my air time on WZCW.com. You may think I'm on board with someone taking over this company, but not like this. So once I have saved this company from itself, I will save it from the people threatening it. I have three main points on my agenda 1) Retain the title. 2) Restore this company to pride. 3) Remove all potential invaders.
But I've got to take each day one step at a time, and for now that means facing Eve Taylor. Taylor may have looks that kill, but I've never thought they were anything to die for. I admire her accomplishments, but we need to focus on the fact that this is a woman who has spent at least some time socially with Mikey Stormrage - she's clearly very easily impressed.
So I will put on the old razzle dazzle, confuse her in the blaze of glory and then ultimately pin her for the win. One, two...
Darkness was all Eve Taylor could see. She did her darnedest to see through to the light, but she couldn't muster the strength to push through the darkness. She had become consumed by it...
... and it felt great! The lights in the relaxation spa were really bright, and the cucumber slices covering her eyes blocked it from hurting her vision. How could one relax in a soothing mud bath when the fluorescent bulbs above were shining straight through your eye sockets? She wanted to kiss the person who invented cucumber slices for cosmetic purposes, but Eve imagined her gleeful feelings to be misplaced, much like Mikey Stormrage was in the relaxation spa. He hadn't really been accustomed to the pampering, the deep massages, and the weird substances being smothered over his body, without any sexual context. It was a foreign world to him, but she felt Mikey (and more importantly, herself) deserved the time to relax after the long day of shooting commercials for breakfast cereals, as well as offer a chance to cleanse themselves from their lives before the Roulette Rounds.
Before the random shake-up, Eve Taylor was the longest reigning Elite champion in history, and Mikey Stormrage finally reached the pinnacle of the sport after many years of trying, and became the World Heavyweight champion. At Unscripted, both of their titles were no longer in their possession, and they had to start, once again, the climb back up to the top of the mountain. Mikey's reign was short-lived, and Eve could sense he was hurt by the loss, wanting to get that title back. However, Eve losing her Senshuken, the Elite Openweight title, did not bother at all. In fact, the only thing she truly cared about Senshuken, was that losing the title did not change her emotion, much like when she became the longest reigning champion, and much like when she recovered Senshuken from being stolen by the M.I.A John Doe. She felt nothing, and these feelings of being emotionless, and edging towards depressive state, needed to wipe the slate clean. Whilst the Roulette Rounds introduced a new perspective on life, where she saw Austin Reynolds successfully defend the Elite Openweight title against a deserving individual, with another successive title defense coming up, she knew she had to forget about Senshuken once and for all. Her virtually gave the title to Austin without much care, and her vision for the title is becoming fulfilled: she needed to move on.
Eve did not know if Mikey had become the replacement for Senshuken, which was a replacement of Aubrey Sloan. Eve did not know if taking Mikey to a relaxation spa was her repeating history when Eve took Aubrey to a relaxation spa, the exact place and the exact moment Eve fell in love with Aubrey... all Eve knew, was that this place provided the perfect opportunity to strip off everything from the past, take a dive into the mud pits, and emerge from them a new, and cleansed person, starting the road to Kingdom Come with a fresh perspective, and a renewed purpose. With the win she accrued alongside Vee A.D.Z to defeat the current Eurasian champion and Hall of Fame legend Titus, and his partner, one of the Vis Imperium henchmen (a group Eve had been encountering many times recently) Abel Hunnicut, for the 40th time, Eve had an excellent feeling that everything was going to plan...
"CANNONBALL!"
All Eve could hear was Mikey Stormrage running across the tiled floors, before a small moment of silence as Mikey gracefully fell through the air, and dived straight into the mud bath right next to Eve Taylor, splattering mud everywhere; the mud was on the walls, the floor, the ceiling, and even in some extremely hard to reach places. The impact was so great, that a clump of mud smacked Eve across the face, knocking one of the cucumber slices off her face, exposing her eyes to the horror! She knew it might be inevitable in Eve's life that she was going to see something as excruciatingly painful as the sight she saw, but had yet to come to terms with unbearable view. She loved Mikey as a friend, but this much so soon really questioned Eve bringing Mikey here... and yet, Eve could not look away from it... the sight that will haunt her forever...
... the FUCKING bright lights inside the relaxation spa.
"Oh my God!"Eve responded, covering her eyes.
Mikey, who had been laughing, and smothering the mud all over his body, which Eve did not have any opinion, stopped to apologise."My bad."
"Not you. These damn lights! Who the hell thought it was a good idea to install such intense lighting in a relaxation room?
"So you don't care that I just cannonballed right into a mud bath, splattered mud everywhere, and ruined your face mask, all whilst seductively rubbing mud all over my body in front of you?"
"They deserve this mess for such horrible lighting."
Mikey pulled the not bad Obama meme face, and nodded, realising he won't get in trouble from Eve, especially with the possibility of getting removed from the spa. Eve tried reaching over for her cucumber slice, but it had landed too far from reach, and Eve did not feel like adjusting her position to get it. So, Eve ripped off the other cucumber slice, and dropped it on the tiles between Mikey and her, accepting the fate of the bright lights, and learning to adjust to them.
"Fine. If that's how you want to play this game, I'll play along. I came here to relax anyway. No pair of lights is going to stop me."
"Maybe it's a metaphor, Eve." Mikey responded. "No matter how much you try to hide away, and no matter what may plague your life, you'll never be able to avoid the spotlight being on you, because of your careers of being a supermodel and wrestler, and you just need to accept the consequences of living such a life. Sure, you'll lose family, friends, and some parts of humanity, but it's the life we chose, and we love this life. We all must come face to face with the bright lights shining down upon us, and just hope we look good enough to be an inspiration to others who watch our every move. That's what I'd like to think at least."
...
...
Eve was completely gobsmacked at the very profound thought naturally flowing from the mouth of Mikey. She honestly could not believe who confidently, and how accurate his word were, and became extremely impressed in Mikey, who, only a week ago, it was Eve who had to instill some life into Mikey after losing his title. This week, it was Eve being influenced by Mikey. She turned her head and looked straight at Mikey with a smile, and was going to compliment him.
"Wow, that was really inspirationa-"
...
Eve cut off mid-sentence as she turned her head to see Mikey eating the slice of cucumber that was covering Eve's eye.
"Seriously?"
"Uh... I'm on a diet."
"That's disgusting. It's been on my eye!"
"I don't find your eyes disgusting; I like 'em."
Mikey looks straight at Eve whilst taking a chomp of the cucumber slice. He gives her a big goofy grin with a mouthful of cucumber, before turning around to adjust himself in the bath. Eve took a second or two to process the transpiring events, deciding to take it as a compliment, and brush her a portion of her untouched hair behind her muddy ear, adjusting herself to her former position.
"So, how am I supposed to get comfortable in this bath? The mud feels weird."
Eve chuckled."It gets some taking used to. Grab that towel over there, and fold it up like a pillow just as I've done it."Eve points to her set-up."Then, just lean back and let the mud settle. The aim is to do absolutely nothing, like what you do when you play video games."
"Hey!"Mikey retorted."I've saved many cities, killed many evil villains, and won many trophies from the comfort of my couch. Can you say the same thing about being constricted in a mud bath?"
"I guess not."
"I'm telling you, we should've gone gaming instead. Would've been better for our upcoming matches..."
Mikey looks directly into the camera.
"... especially when we re-energise ourselves with a delicious bowl of Gamer-O's!"Mikey whips out the box of cereal, showcasing it off for the camera.
Eve looks around, wondering what the hell Mikey is doing. Before she could inquiry, Mikey puts away the Gamer-O's, and they disappear forever. Eve was about to ask where he put those, but she just let the product placement go, and continued on with the RP.
"As much as they are fun to play, I can't rely on video games to help me in a match against the World champion, Mikey. Garth Black's focus and determination is unparalleled right now, and I need to clear my head of everything just to stand a chance against him. You should know that more than anyone."
Mikey didn't look too pleased with that comment. Eve noticed that she hurt his feelings somewhat.
"I don't mean to discourage you, or put you down like everyone else does. This is a hard truth, Mikey. Garth Black is a dangerous individual. He's a long-time veteran of the company who has been longing for the spotlight, and on his warpath to achieving the World championship, he had nothing to lose. Even if he had something to lose, his mindset was constantly telling him that he had nothing to lose, because he believed the company was always trying to hold him down, at every possible turn, even when he was given an Elite Openweight championship match against me at Apocalypse. He knew the clock was winding down on his career, for youth was not on his side like it is for us, Mikey. Despite everything that happens, we will always have another chance to become World champion, or become the best. This is Garth's last chance to cement his name in the record books, and he was going to stop at nothing, whilst he is still on the top of his game, the momentum on his side, and the chip on his shoulder growing as the company kept putting roadblocks ahead of him. It was only a matter of time before Garth Black hit the top of the mountain, and unfortunately, it came at the expense of you, and cut your title reign, one you've been searching for even longer than Garth, short."
"But we can't let our past keep us held down, Mikey. We've got a huge future, you and I, and we have to take advantage of it. That's why we are here: to reflect on everything we've done, clean the slate of all this dirt and mud, and move forward towards the future. The future is the Lethal Lottery, and it is approaching fast. You and I had the reset button happen at the Roulette Rounds, and even though you didn't pin your opponent, and I didn't pin mine, we started our momentum fresh with a win. This week, we've got veteran champions in our midst, and we need to take advantage of the one thing veterans like them cannot do, and that is to restart our careers. Start back at the bottom, work our way back to the top, and prove to everyone that we can hang... and we've got the best possible matches that any rookie starting their career would absolutely die for: a chance to prove themselves against champions. Titus may only be the Eurasian champion, and in some people's eyes, it isn't as prestigious as the Eurasian champion, but he's following a similar path when I was Elite champion, looking to make that title mean something, and he's a Hall of Fame legend. You beat him, and you'll have all the momentum on your side."
"Me? I've got the man with the dead man's hand grip, who will do everything in his power to keep everyone away from becoming champion, including people as hungry as us... someone like me, who has been clamouring for the World championship ever since I decided to give up modelling forever, because wrestling was what I wanted to do. I want to show the world, once again, that I am proven to wrestle inside the squared circle, and that I do not belong on the catwalk wearing pretty dresses. I want to prove I deserve to be in the same ring as the World champion, and that one day, I'll be competing for that same belt... and most importantly, I want to prove to Garth Black that I can hang with him, and show that the match we had at Apocalypse for the Elite Openweight title was not a fluke, and it was not the match he controlled. I know I won the match, and to the common eye, I won it convincingly, but people lend themselves to revisionist history. I, and Garth, seem to be the only two people on the planet to truly know how that match went down. We both knew going into the match that Garth didn't want my title, he wanted the World title, yet he could not lose. When he competed against me, he took me to hell and back, and when I was in a vulnerable position to be put down for the 3 count, he purposely hesitated, allowing me to switch the momentum, and defeat him. I saw the smirk in his eyes when he handed the win to me, and even though I successfully defended the title on paper, that was the truly the time my title reign came to an end... and I haven't had the opportunity to prove myself against Garth, and show him that I didn't need his pity to beat him..."
"I know have that opportunity, Mikey. I have the chance to take on Garth Black, where I have absolutely nothing to lose, and I can show him the skills I've accrued since the last time we've faced in the ring. I will bring my best game I've got, the same he showed me when we faced, but instead of taking pity on Garth like he did on me, I will follow through, and do my absolutely best to put him down for the count, or get him so close to that point that should I lose the match, I will still win... because I chose the life of being a wrestling, and as you said Mikey, the spotlight is on me. I'm not going to let some bright lights blind me from what's at the end of that light. I'm going to do my best, and I'm going to show the world what Eve Taylor is all about."
Eve could not help but smile at her finding her focus, and figuring out everything she wanted to do. For a while, even as Elite champ, she was lost and felt nothing. Now, she had aspirations, goals, and the emotions to back them up. She looked for victory, and for glory, and she couldn't be happier for herself, even though Mikey had found a way to relax, and was in deep thought himself. Eve did not know if Mikey was listened to her, or heard her speak for that matter, but she did not care; she finally had purpose, and she was glad she had someone she liked along for the ride.
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
After a long time relaxing in the baths, Mikey and Eve, still covered in mud, exited the mud bath rooms, and went into the showers to clean everything off, washing away the dirt and mud. It took a while to remove the mud, as it slowly dripped away, from the head working its way slowly down the body of both competitors. Mikey kept an eye on Eve the entire time, pretending to wash himself. However, to keep away from the awkwardness, he made conversation.
"So... any plans on what to do against Garth Black?"He asked."He's a tough competitor."
Eve laughed, knowing Mikey did not listen to her speech."I'll figure something."
As she said this, the mud slowly began dripping off her chest, slowly revealing the one thing (or in this case, two things), Mikey had been waiting for ever since he realised would happen when they hit the showers. Mikey watched on as the mud dripped off and revealed... Eve wearing a bikini.
This time, it was Mikey who was gobsmacked, and could not believe what he was seeing. Mikey wanted to die of embarrassment. Eve could tell something was wrong.
"What?"
"Were we supposed to wear bathers underneath?"
"Well, yeah. We did go to a bathing spa. Why do you ask?"
Mikey looked down at his crotch, and slowly covered it with his hands. Eve, realising what's up, covered her mouth and began laughing.
"What is it with us and being naked in every single damn location?"
"But... you're not naked right now."
"It's your turn, this time. Next time, it'll be me. I promise."
With that, Eve held out her hand, looking for a fist bump. Mikey wanted to oblige, but he was too scared to move his hands away from his crotch. So, Eve decided to fist bump the hands covering Mikey's crotch... with a little too much power, that sent Mikey crippled down in the showers. Eve looked on in horror, realising what she had done, before laughing it off again, because of the stupidity of the situation.
