Becky Serra is seen walking around cautiously as she turns her head every couple of steps. Serra has a look of panic as she walks down a dark and narrow hall before reaching her destination, Dr. Zeus.

Dr. Zeus, I’d like to get a word with you a WZCW App exclusive.

Dr. Zeus sits silently in an old wooden chair as he puts his ear towards the door to his right.

Excuse me Doctor, a word.

Zeus’s trance is broken as he now glares at the worried Serra.

Shh shh you mustn’t talk.
For our ears, we must stalk
Their pain seeps through these walls.
As another hero has suffered his downfall.

Serra is concerned as she draws away, but Zeus yanks her back into frame.

You come seeking questions of Saboteur
All your answers you seek are behind this door.
For the king, one Beard finds the hope,
The rest of the world must deal and cope.

What are you trying to say Doctor?

Knock, knock.

Who’s there?

Serra is hesitant as she answers the Good Doctor’s rhyme

Quite the scare.

Quite…the scare, who?

A brief pause from Serra as she fears what is next to come. Zeus is silent as he has returned to his seat, leaving Serra without an answer. The worry in Serra’s eyes is visible as she begins to back away until the door flies open as Serra screams.

Peek. A. Boo.

A dark shadow emerges from the door as it is revealed to be The Beard. An ominous look upon his face, Beard approaches the frightened Serra as he gently rubs the back of his hand across her cheek.

What is this about?

Please Becky I mean you no harm. I was just playing with my new friend.

Is that, that blood on your hands?

Beard looks down at his calloused hands as blood faintly drips to the floor below. His hands move closer to his face before he rubs his hands down his face and into his manly beard. Serra shrills as Beard stares at her with a blank expression. Serra tries backing away, but falls the ground screaming.

Becky Serra, listen closely. Saboteur is no more. Another hero bites the dust, another hero has fallen. Every hero needs a good villain. You are looking into the eyes of said villain. This blood isn’t of my doing. It is your doing, it is the fans doing, the company’s doing. They forced me to do this. They forced me to be this villain and now they must live with the consequences.

Serra is nearly in tears as Zeus puts his hand up as if he has some sort of control of this monster. Beard nods his head as he lifts Serra up and dusts her off. Serra’s voice is feint as she tries to continue the interview.

What is your obsession with destroying heroes?

People have seem to forgotten that I was once a hero. I once lived the life of your beloved Saboteur and Theron. I has the universe behind me. All my beardos came out each night and cheered me on. There was just one issue Becky. I was replaceable. I went to bed every night afraid that someone would take my place. I finally realized I needed to put an end to this rotating door of heroes and make myself the biggest threat this company has ever witnessed. Heroes can be replaced Becky, but a villain, a villain must be killed.

What does this mean for Theron Daggershield?

Theron believes he is a hero. The people believe he is a hero. To be a hero you must go face to face with your maker. You must take this adversity head on and lick the impending wounds. But you know you’ll survive because after all you are the hero. A hero is only as good as his counterpart. The villain, while the more manipulative, more devious, more intelligent of the two, never wins. However I’m no ordinary villain. A simple defeat will not keep me down, it will make me stronger. And winning isn’t a concern either. That’s just an added bonus.

Are you saying your win over Vega last week wasn’t satisfying?

Satisfaction isn’t something I sought after or else I’d be who I once was. My only satisfaction is the destruction of this company. As for Vega, he’ll come around. They always do Becky. The words of Zeus will lead him here, to our dungeon.

Beard looks around as he admires the dripping pipes and the remaining of the dimly lit facility as Zeus still sits silently reading in the corner.

Soon Theron Daggershield will find solace here. What you need to realize Becky is that this dungeon is my playhouse. And those heroes that you spew their propaganda for are my toys. Theron is the next piece to my growing collection as he’ll join your beloved Saboteur. At the end of the day Becky Serra, another hero shall fall victim to War and Death.

We open up to a view of a vast ocean. Alucard the Dire Bat soars through the air performing impressive aerial maneuvers with a partly cloudy sky in the background. A ship can be seen sailing the waters below. Camera zooms in on the ship to reveal Kayrentia the druid out on the outer deck of the ship. She lets out her hand to feed a berry to the Dire Bat. The sounds of waves are heard at first, and then a catchy tune begins playing in the background which repeats through the following scenes.

Camera angle changes to face Kayrentia as she leans over the railing. A door is visible behind her, leading to one of the sleeping quarters. Theron opens the door, stretches, and yawns. He walks over to where Kayrentia is.

Theron: I haven't had a nap that relaxing in ages. Kayrentia! Have you seen Vire?

Kayrentia: No, I have not. Why?

Theron: He has been avoiding me ever since he left me when I thought I could trust him. Davkas and Beardacus are a lethal duo together. I could have been killed back there!!!!

Kayrentia: So, go find him and talk things out. Stop yelling, you are scaring Alucard.

Alucard has landed next to Kayrentia on the railing and is eating the berry Kayrentia gave him. Theron looks at the Dire Bat briefly.

Theron: Sorry, Alucard.

The bat continues to eat the berry. Theron looks back at Kayrentia.

Theron: It's not just that though. I can't help but wonder, how much longer is this boat ride going to take? We have to be near the Blixt Isle now. I've got a match with Beardacus at the next event and Bobo told me the arena on that island is where it will take place. The same isle that Davkas' tower just happens to be on according to Vire. Part of me wonders if he is actually working together with Davkas and Beardacus in some type of conspiracy, but that can't be possible. Kirilah would have detected evil within him.

Loud cheering can be heard nearby. Theron looks to the left and then to the right, trying to figure out where the noise is coming from.

Theron: I wonder what that was?

Kayrentia: It is probably coming from the Saloon. Sheshmish walked over in that direction earlier while you were napping.

Theron: That might have been where Vire went too then.... I'll go check it out.

Theron walks offscreen and the scene fades out.

====

Scene fades in to the ship's Saloon. Nine aquatic elf sailors are seen. The largest of them all holds up a pewter tankard as high as he can, standing in the center of the crowd. Sheshmish the Orc Swashbuckler is standing next to the tallest sailor, chugging a bottle of rum. Sheshmish finishes drinking, but the tall aquatic elf sailor had finished his drink first.

Sheshmish: Yarr, ye be a formidable opponent, matey! Another round of rum, barkeep!

Tall Aquatic Elf Sailor: There is no more rum, Orc. It's gone.

Sheshmish: Why's the rum gone!?

Tall Aquatic Elf Sailor: You drank it all!

At this point, Theron walks into the Saloon. He looks over at Sheshmish and the Aquatic Elves.

Sheshmish: Now tell me, where be the gunpowder room?

Tall Aquatic Elf Sailor: You lost the bet! Tell you what, if you can hold your breath under water longer than me in those large barrels of water over there, I'll show you to the gunpowder room.

The aquatic elf points to two huge barrels in the corner of the bar. The elves and Sheshmish begin walking over to the barrels. Theron shakes his head and suddenly notices a female aquatic elf pirate sitting by herself in one of the booths. He sits down by her.

????: Is that Orc a friend of yours?

Theron: Yeah. Why?

????: He should know better than to challenge aquatic elves to drinking contests, let alone holding your breath underwater challenges. Those elves are my crew, if you didn't figure it out.

Theron: So you're the captain?

Alisha: Name's Alisha. You must be Theron Daggershield. Vire told me all about you.

Theron sits down on the bench across from Alisha in the booth.

Theron: Wait, you know Vire? I'm trying to find him. Do you know where he went?

Alisha: He is in my captain's deckhouse. He was rambling on about stars so I let him look out the windows from the cabin.

Theron's facial expression turns more serious, he clenches his fists and gets up.

Alisha: Where are you going?

Theron: To go give Vire a piece of my mind! He left me for dead at the hands of Davkas Diamonddeath and Beardacus!

Alisha: Wait. Sit down for a moment. There's something you need to know about Vire Silverclaw.

Theron sits back down on the bench and crosses his arms.

Theron: What is it?

Alisha: Vire and I have history. I used to be his second in command at his assassin guild. I only stuck by his side for as long as I did because I saw the good in him. He told me about how you confronted him in the basement of the arena before your match, and you told him you too see good in him.

Theron: I'm extremely skeptical of trusting him after what he did. My girlfriend is a paladin of Mystra. She detects no evil in him at this point, and while she'd never lie to me about him being evil, the fact that Vire would EVER agree to be in a gladiatorial tag team match with Davkas Diamonddeath doesn't do anything to increase my trust in him.

Alisha: Take it from someone who was an associate of his for a long time. Deep down, I believe Vire is ultimately good. He may be able to help you in this battle of yours against Davkas Diamonddeath. You will need backup if Beardacus truly has formed an alliance with Davkas. Vire can be that backup. He got you this far didn't he? He would not have given you insight into Davkas' lair if he did not want to assist someone in destroying it.

Theron: Why are you telling me this? I want to be able to place my trust in Vire. I really do. I'm just feeling so conflicted. I'm angry at him for betraying me, yet I feel like he needs my help in overcoming the darkness that exists within him.

Alisha: In a way, Vire has always needed help. I have lived a life of darkness for too long, trying to hide the goodness that has always been in my heart. All to escape from the Purple Dragon Knights, but also in an attempt to earn Vire's trust. That is the only way I would have been able to bring him back into the light from the darkness that has been consuming him.

Theron: You were chased by the Purple Dragon Knights? Only the shadiest of rogues get hunted by them. How did you manage to escape?

Alisha: With Vire's help. He could have killed me or left me to be captured by the Purple Dragon Knights, but he took me in and taught me everything he knew. It's why I believe there is still a glimmer of a light left in his shadowed heart.

Theron: Wow.... And this is the same Vire Silverclaw who was nearly unbeatable as the Chaos Champion? Did you not fear for your life during your time with him?

Alisha: Not at all. If he was going to kill me he would have done so the day he found me hiding in the slums from Purple Dragon Knights.

Theron full of disbelief, looks at Alisha for a moment until she breaks the silence.

Alisha: Will you re-consider? Vire would do well to have you as a friend.

Theron: I'll give him another chance to explain his actions. Point me in the direction of your captain's deckhouse. If he's still there then I need to talk to him.

Scene fades out.

====

Scene fades in to Alisha's deckhouse. It is a lot fancier than the rest of the ship. On the left side there is a bed in the corner neatly made, a large map of the world on the wall next to a pirate's banner that has a Jolly Roger skull and crossbones symbol on it. On the right side there is a desk with a stack of scrolls on top of it, a fancy chair, and a telescope next to a window. Vire Silverclaw is looking into the telescope, Theron's girlfriend Kirilah the Paladin of Mystra is sitting in the fancy chair listening to him speak.

Vire: It all comes down to either Supernovas or Black Holes in the end. Fascinating really. Supernovas create, while Black Holes destroy. Yet, one or the other is the fate of every star.

Vire stops looking into the telescope and faces Kirilah.

Vire: A traveling stargazer once told me as a child that it was up to me to determine my own path, whether I would be a Black Hole or a Supernova. Those two polar opposites bring forth either life or death across the universe.

Kirilah: You do not have to follow the path that would turn you into the human equivalent of a Black Hole, Vire. If you allow me to share the salvation message of my deity, it would open up all sorts of doors of revelation. You could choose the path of life, be a Supernova in human form.

Vire: Why surrender myself to the teachings of a deity though? What good will that do? Why do you believe in these things, and why do you believe in me being a good person? I could become more of a Supernova exploding upon everything in sight turning it into stardust, the element that makes up every piece of the universe and thus creating a new outlook for myself.

Kirilah: Yes! Exactly!

Vire: OR....

Vire grins.

Vire: Or I could be a Black Hole. A force so destructive that nothing in its path has any hope of survival, not even light. Do you see, church girl? There is no light in this world. Not with Black Holes like me around to suck out anything positive and destroy it.

Kirilah: Is that what you truly want though? You sound conflicted, Vire. I will not force my beliefs on you. The creator of all things gave us our own choice of whether to believe or not. If you desire to bring about positive change in your life, then let me pray for you that you'll find the desire deep within you to make that change and to have the strength to cast out any thoughts of yourself as a destructive force.

Vire: Yeah, whatever. Go ahead.

Kirilah's eyes light up and has an expression of joy on her face at the thought of Vire allowing her to pray for him. She bows her head, closes her eyes, and begins to pray. Vire rolls his eyes.

Kirilah: Oh Mother of Magic, I come to you wanting to lift up your child Vire Silverclaw right now. He is struggling internally, I just ask that you-

Kirilah's prayer is interrupted by Theron opening the door to the captain's deckhouse.

Theron: There you are! Vire, I've been needing to talk to you. What was that back at the arena? Why didn't you come down to the ring and help me!? This week I am facing Beardacus, who has a World Gladiatorial Heavyweight Championship title shot anytime he pleases. If he and Davkas attack me again, can I trust you to have my back? I wish that I could, especially after telling you about the glimmer of light that I see within all that darkness in you. I don't understand how you could agree to a tag team match with Davkas against Ella Teague and that new girl Annaleesa of Moonsea. Am I going to have to jump in to save those girls?

Vire: Do not worry about Ella and Annaleesa. The only one you need to worry about is yourself, Theron. Beardacus and Davkas might not allow you to live to tell the tale the next time they attack.

Theron: So HELP me then! Show me that I'm not going crazy for thinking I can trust you!

Theron looks over at Kirilah.

Theron: Wait, why are you in here, Kirilah?

Kirilah: I ran into Vire while you were napping and he wanted to ask me more about why I believe what I believe. I was praying for Vire, before you interrupted....

Theron scratches his head, as an akward silence lasts for a few seconds.

Theron: Sorry. I didn't expect to walk in on something that deep.

Vire: I'll leave you two to talk. I need to find that Necromancer friend of yours. We're near the isle and I have to tell him where to sail.

Theron: Keifasar is steering the ship?

Vire: No. He reanimated half a dozen skeletons that were in the brig, they are rowing the oars at his orders in the lower deck. Since they can only take orders from him and only I know where the isle is located, I have to go tell him where to have the skeletons row to.

Vire leaves. Theron tries to follow him, but Kirilah gets up out of the fancy chair and stops him from following Vire.

Kirilah: Let him go, Theron. He has to make his own decisions. All we can do now is pray that he sees the light himself. Can I ask you a question?

Theron: Of course.

Kirilah: Why this sudden change? This is not like you. Had anyone else betrayed you the way Vire did when Davkas and Beardacus attacked you, there would have been no second chance for them. You are quick to hold a grudge, but not with Vire. Is there a reason you want to be a positive influence on him?

Theron: He reminds me of someone who I once could have saved from being consumed by darkness. I had multiple opportunities to do so, but I failed him. Vire is at a similar crossroads and I do not want to see him choose the path of darkness when there is light within him.

Kirilah: Who does he remind you of that you failed?

Theron: My brother.

Kirilah: You have a brother? Why did you never tell me?

Theron: Nobody in my Merry Band Of Misfits knows about my brother. Not even Davivel, and he's been traveling with me since the very beginning. His name is Feron, he and I are twins.

Kirilah walks over to the bed and sits down on it. She looks at Theron, tilts her head to the side for a moment with a look of speculation on her face, before moving it back to its normal position. She then smiles at him.

Kirilah: Come, sit. Can you tell me about your brother? I would love to know more about what happened.

Theron walks over to Kirilah and sits down next to her on the bed. She rests her head on his shoulder. Theron blinks a few times and sighs. Kirilah places her hand on his leg.

Kirilah: It's ok. You do not have to say anything you are not ready to share.

Theron: I don't even know where to start....

Kirilah: Would you rather talk about your match? Beardacus is quite a scary gladiator. Do you think you can defeat him?

Theron: Beardacus is the one who won the King's Contendership match. He received a Bag of Holding containing a scroll guaranteeing him a world title match. His focus has to be on the world title. My focus, however, is on revenge for that brutal attack. I'll show Beardacus that I fear no monster, including him.

Kirilah removes her hand from Theron's leg and grabs his hand. They hold each other's hands tightly as she closes her eyes. Her head is still resting on his shoulder. He leans his head over on top of hers as the scene fades out, the song stops playing.

====

Scene fades in to a dark room in the brig. Rats can be heard squeaking and scattering across the floor. Various skeletal remains of former captives are in the room. The bars in this particular cell are broken open.

Intense music begins to play as none other than Beardacus emerges from the shadows. He has a note from Davkas Diamonddeath in his hand. Davkas' voice can be heard as Beardacus reads the note.

"Opportunity awaits you the likes of which you've never SEEN.... If you defeat Theron Daggershield in a victory that's CLEAN.... Join me, Beardacus in the New Church Of Shar's Thunder SHRINE.... It houses an elemental artifact of which there are NINE.... Sneak onboard the ship with Theron and his Merry Band of MISFITS.... Hidden below, you can wait in a room no one ever VISITS.... ~ Davkas Diamonddeath"

Beardacus puts the note into his bag of holding, which also contains his guaranteed title match for the World Gladiatorial Heavyweight Championship.

Beardacus: It's pathetic really, to see what has become of the once terrifying Vire Silverclaw. Wasting his time with those misfits.... Theron is the worst of them all. He has never been in the ring alone with me before. I could have destroyed him at the King's Contendership match if I wanted to, but earning THIS was more important.

He holds up his bag of holding and looks at it for a moment.

Beardacus: This is my stepping stone to becoming the king of the World Gladiatorial Combat Federation, a guaranteed shot at the top prize. Theron is merely another peasant standing in my path on the way there. I know not what Davkas' issue is with Theron or what this Church of Shar business is, but if it gets me one step closer to claiming my prize, I will make Theron FEAR MY BEARD!

Beardacus picks up one of the skeletons in the cell and headbutts it as the song fades out. This crushes the skull of the skeleton and many of its bones fall off as he holds it and stares angrily. Fade to black.
