MD102: Showtime & Michael Winters vs. Los Magnificos Dragones

Did that really just happen? Califa just bolted out the door as soon I showed him the mask I had made. I can’t believe it. This is unbecoming of a partner, let alone someone that I consider more than my tag team partner. I just didn’t get it. I didn’t get what I did wrong just now. Oh great, now everyone is looking at me. I feel millions of eyes looking at me as if I was at fault for whatever just transpired. I stuff the mask back into my purse so that no one will see it. This was a mistake. All my fault. My fault once again. Stupid. Stupid Amber! But was it truly my fault? No! It can’t be!

My cheeks turn a bright red as I quickly exit the restaurant. I look near and far but Califa is nowhere to be found. Well of course he’s nowhere to be found, he’s upset with me. I would’ve left if I were him. Then again, I probably wouldn’t have done what he did, leaving me all alone like that. All I feel is shame. Ashamed of something that I thought was right. How twisted and confusing is that? I have to make this right. Right?

A Few Days After Ascension 76.....

I lost. I just got my second loss in my entire WZCW career to Triple X no less. I had him right where I wanted him but he caught me after just one little mistake. One tiny mistake. God, why can’t I do anything right? One small misstep and it cost me that match. It cost me a win, a win that I had to have. That match was mine to win and I can only blame myself for losing.

No! This is Califa’s fault. He’s been on my mind since that day at the restaurant. We didn’t have a tag team match as we went for solo matches. Me against Triple X and Califa against the World Champion, Ricky Runn. Califa has been on my mind all day and all night, making me think contemplate whether what I did was wrong or not. It upsets me so much that I move towards the chair in front of me and fling it across the lockers. The chair connects with the lockers and the loud bang is heard all throughout the hallways. This can’t be happening to me right now, it just can’t. Now when things were just about to get better for me.

I bury my face in my hands weeping into them. However, I hear the door lock click with the knob turning and in comes my brother, Nate.

“What is going on Amber? You and Califa aren’t talking at home and you sure as hell aren’t talking backstage. What’s going on? Did he do something to you? You tell me right now and I’ll go take care of it for you.”

“As if you can.” I wanted to say out loud. But this was my brother, he was only trying to help. I look up at him and he has that concerned look in his eyes just like any older brother would. He comes closer and sits right beside and pats me on the shoulder. He goes in for a hug but I don’t let him as I’m not in the mood. I just want to be alone.

“Hey, what’s wrong? You can tell me.”

“No, I can’t. Just leave me alone Nate.”

With a burrowed brow forming on his face, Nate just looks at me but I don’t look back. He again pats me on the shoulder to try and console me but it isn’t working. Finally, I look up at him, my eyes all red and swollen. That was enough for Nate.

“Please, I just want to be alone right now Nate. I know you’re just trying to make me feel better but I just need some time to myself. I assure you that I’ll let you know when I need you.”

Yeah, that was enough to stave off any other attempts Nate had to stay with me. Nate has always been very persistent so it was kind of weird when he just backed away after only telling him once that I needed to be alone. God, why is everything changing? Can’t everything just go back to the way it was. To the way it was when I was happy? I don’t want to go through this again. But it’s looking like I have to.

--

I haven’t been to the gym in about three days now and I hear nothing from Nate or Califa. They really are giving me my space but I just wish that there was something that could fix all of this. Make everyone forget what had happened. I can’t just change the past though, what’s done is done. This is the absolute wrong time to not be in the gym especially since I learned that me and Califa will be teaming to face off against Showtime and Michael Winters. It’s just more problems for me. It’s like the world hates me so much that it keeps piling more and more problems on me. Why me, world?!

Suddenly, I hear the roar of a beast stop outside. It’s Califa’s trusty black Escalade. Oh no, please don’t tell me he’s coming to speak to me, I’m in no mood to speak to him just yet. The rage in me is still present and I’m afraid I won’t be in control of what I say if ever he engaged me in a conversation. What follows next is Califa’s footsteps going up the stairs, he’s coming to me. Be ready Amber, be ready. Be calm. This is your tag team partner, you can get through this.

With that, the door indeed opens up and peaking in is Califa. As soon as El Califa enters the room, Amber straightens herself, guarding herself from whatever El Califa has to say to her. Amber shoots a look at Califa before looking away.

El Califa: El Califa has come to talk, not to argue.

Califa has his arms in the air waving his innocence but Amber is still not comfortable with Califa right in front of him.

El Califa: Amber, El Califa would like to apologize for leaving you in the dust at the restaurant like that. That was uncalled for and is not in El Califa’s nature. For that, El Califa is truly and sincerely sorry.

As the young dragon listens intently to her mentor, El Califa simply cannot read her with the blank look on Amber’s face. As if lost in a trance, there is silence from Amber to which El Califa waits for her to speak. Amber goes to sit at the edge of her bed retrieving a comb from the table placed on the side of her bed. She begins looking at the mirror before combing her hair aimlessly. El Califa still doesn’t say anything for a few moments before getting visibly frustrated at Amber. He has his hands placed at his sides and simply just shakes his head.

El Califa: Is Amber Warren going to pretend that El Califa is not standing right in front of her? That he has done the honorable thing to come and apologize for his past actions?

Amber is still having none of it as she continues combing her long, dark brown hair even whilst whistling to herself. There is complete silence once more. Silence before the storm.

El Califa: El Califa would expect this kind of behavior from an immature child but you are not an immature child Amber Warren. You are a grown woman! This nonsensical attitude you have right now is not what the dragons need right now. Especially with Showtime and Winters as our opponents this week on Meltdown!

The thought of being called an immature child by El Califa has struck a chord with Amber. She stops combing her hair and walks towards her drawer. She pulls the drawer out and starts digging through her clothes before pulling it out. It’s the mask she had revealed to El Califa at the restaurant. The blue is very distinct from the entire mask as shines in the fluorescence. The young dragon walks towards El Califa and sizes him up. They’re now face-to-face or mask-to-mask if you will and before long, Amber dons the mask.

Amber: You don’t get to talk to me like that!

Amber jabs her pointing finger right on El Califa’s chest, emphasizing the "you", which draws him back a few steps. She continues this with every word she speaks to get right in El Califa’s face.

Amber: You talk as if you ever really considered me an equal. Now, now I see what you truly are. You are a narcissistic coward who hides behind the myriad of masks that you don each time you go out and perform. All this is a façade that you play. A façade that you’ve been playing for far too long Califa.

El Califa tilts his head to the side checking to see if this is the same Amber Warren that’s been a close friend to him, someone that’s been not just a partner, but someone he cares for with all his heart.

El Califa: El Califa does not follow Amber Warren. El Califa is going to walk away right now before this all is blown out of proportions. El Califa would like to reiterate his sincerest apologies to you Amber Warren. He hopes you can find the place in your heart to forgive him.

El Califa turns away but he doesn’t even take one step away from Amber as she holds him back. She forces him back to his stand still position before speaking once again.

Amber: Oh no, you don’t get to do this Califa. You don’t get to run away from your troubles. I see a pattern forming here you know? When I needed you the most, you weren’t there. Shocker huh?

The rage is building in Amber as her tone is turned up a level higher. She has both hands balled in fists looking ready to explode at any time.

Amber: You’re a runner huh El Califa? You run from all your problems that’s why they all come back to bite you in the ass. What kind of a man runs from his problems? I’ll tell you, no man does that. All you do is run, run until those problems subside, and then you go and make more problems.

El Califa against tilts his head to the side looking a bit confused as he holds the back of his neck wishing this was all over already.

Amber: You don't understand what a runner is?

Amber holds out her palm. With her pointing finger and middle finger placed right above her palm, she begins moving those two fingers back and forth to signal what she means.

Amber: This is you.

El Califa just stands there, still as ever like a statue. He just stares right at Amber, straight to her eyes. But Amber doesn’t hold back and stares right into El Califa’s eyes as well making it known that she is right.

Amber: You know, I expected more from you Califa. And this pattern I’m seeing? I didn’t realize until just now. You gave Nate the job of running the gym just so that it would keep me around didn’t you? You were afraid of my success. I was learning things too quick for your liking so you went and gave Nate something to force me to stay. That’s the sort of thing a narcissist would do. And what do you know, you are one Califa.

The young dragon jabs her pointing finger at El Califa’s chest once more before staring at him with an arrogant look. Her eyes piercing through as the two dragons are engaged in staredown.

Amber: I lost to Triple X. I lost to Triple X because of you. Because of you, I had a million things jumbling in my head and it caused me to lose focus. Not only that, but I was attacked by Cerberus and here’s the best part, my partner was nowhere to be found. Gee, Califa you sure do have a knack for not showing up right when people need you.

The sarcastic tone in Amber’s voice is as arrogant as ever. Amber has a smirk on her face, pleased with herself that she’s giving El Califa a piece of her mind.

El Califa: Wins and losses are all a part of this business that we both love Amber. No need to be upset about it and no need to add to any more of this nonsense. Losing to someone as credible as Triple X is nothing to be ashamed of.

Amber: There you go again with your talk of honor Califa. I’m sick of it. You say that wins and losses are a part of the wrestling world and I agree with you. The problem is, Amber Warren has always strived to be the best. The best do not lose. If I lose, I am not the best, therefore I will not lose, making me the best. Not just the best female wrestler to ever grace a WZCW ring, but the best wrestler ever in WZCW history. Better than the Showtime, better than Everest, better than Ty Burna, better than Michael Winters, and a hell of a lot better than El Califa Dragon.

Amber lets that last statement sink into the mind of El Califa. Seeing as she has more to say, Amber gets right in El Califa’s face, they’re pretty much nose-to-nose.

Amber: Califa, I want you to hear me loud and clear. I’ll even say this slow so that you can follow me straight. You should always remember that it wasn’t I who came to you to be a team, it was you who came to me. It was you who needed me. I didn’t need you. And after all this, I realized that I never needed you. You needed me to fill a gaping hole in your life. You tried to feed off of me and well, I’m sick of it.

She looks right into the very soul of El Califa with her piercing eyes but all El Califa does is stare right back, not backing down from his tag team partner.

Amber: But you know, after all this, I almost found myself forgiving. I almost found myself to understand why you did the things that you did. Like why you wanted me around. You wanted me around because you feel something for me. And you know what the craziest thing is? I might feel something for you.

El Califa seems taken aback as his head moves backwards in a swift motion. He gets close to Amber looking to console her as he tries to put his hand on her shoulder but is soon swatted away by Amber.

Amber:But no! This is wrong! How foolish of me to even think this way. How could anyone love someone like you Califa? Someone who claims to be something they’re not. Someone who’s just been playing a part for so long that they don’t know who they are anymore. To me, that’s just about as low as you can get.

El Califa looks down to the floor seemingly searching for the reasons as to why this conversation has gone on for far too long. Amber uses her hand to lift El Califa’s face from looking down so that they are staring at each other once more.

Amber: Get this through your thick skull Califa, you knew of the Amber Warren of old. The unpolished, awkward, problematic, hot-tempered rookie. But that Amber Warren is no more. The Amber Warren you see before you is now known as the Dragon Queen. And believe me when I tell you this, the reign of the Dragon Queen will begin.

Amber nods her head with every word she speaks while having that maniacal smirk on her face. The tension between the two dragons is clear but neither one backs down from the other.

Amber: With or without you.

The two masked dragons remained locked in a staredown, tensions having risen from Amber's claim of greatness over El Califa. The insults and the boasting, El Califa had had enough! He finally steps away from Amber, placing his hands on the back of his head as he looks up at the ceiling, clearly trying to keep his calm, but it's clear the rage of this dragon was ready to ignite. He suddenly turns to Amber pointing his finger at her.

El Califa: You stand here, in El Califa's town, in his own home and you disrespect him so Amber Warren?! Get your facts straight Amber, you lost last week. It's your second loss in WZCW. Do you realize how many times El Califa Dragon has lost in his career? More than he can remember. So what makes your loss so much more damning than his own failures?

Amber: Because I don't lose Califa! This is what's different between you and I. I don't accept losses, I don't accept the mediocrity that you seem to enjoy swimming in. Does it even bother you Califa that you were robbed in your match against Runn? You had the World Champion pinned for God's sake! And you just stand there shrugging your shoulders, oh well another match, another paycheck. I'm not in this for a paycheck Califa. I'm in this to win every single God damn match that they put me in. Triple X has no right defeating The Dragon Queen, and I'm taking it out on Showtime and Winters on Meltdown, whether you want to be there or not.

Amber begins laughing as she circles around her bed, grabbing her WZCW Tag Title and throwing it at Califa. Califa catches it and stares down at the name on the title, Los Magnificos Dragones. He drops the title as he crosses his arms, staring straight forward through Amber as he walks around and gets in her face again, the younger dragon not backing down from the elder.

El Califa: You call yourself the Dragon Queen Amber Warren. Do you think you deserve such a title? Or is it just another tradition you want to spit on?

Amber: Yeah you know what Califa. I will do as I damn well pleased and I will take the title of The Dragon Queen.

El Califa: A warrior who creates their own title of royalty, holds nothing more than a hollow name.

Amber balls her fists up and turns around, slamming her fist into the end table as she let's out an ear shattering scream. She turns back to El Califa and shoves him backward. Califa takes a few steps back but doesn't stumble, his arms still crossed but one could tell even without seeing his face that he is seething underneath. Amber walks up and shoves him again, Califa backing up into the wall and begins leaning on it.

Amber: And who exactly gave you the title of The Dragon Caliph? You're no leader. You're nothing more than a coward who preaches patience and self control. It's funny Califa, why don't I go call Maria and bring her over here? We'll see how great your self control is.

El Califa: Maria has nothing to do with this.

Amber: She has everything to do with his Califa! Why don't you go desert me again when I need you most again? You run every time someone needs to rely on you. While I was sitting here being a miserable puddle of tears, I realized something Califa. I don't need you to be my backbone. I have my own, while you have none! How long did it take you to tell Maria to go away? Years. And yet you come crawling back to me trying to explain how, she's your poison, that you can't help yourself. You sound like a pathetic addict in the street. Just admit that you didn't have the balls to tell her off!

Califa lowers his head as Amber's words strike deep into his heart. He unfurls his arms and drops them to his side, his hands shaking as he lifts one up and balls it into a fist.

Amber: Are you gonna hit me? Then be a man and do it!

Califa let's out a yell as he turns around and punches a hole through the wall directly behind him, the wood fracturing from the impact of his strike. He stands still for several moments, while Amber crosses her arms looking unimpressed.

Amber: I didn't think you would.

Amber begins walking away out of the room as Califa withdraws his hand from the wall, blood dripping down his hand and off his finger tips. He tilts his head towards Amber.

El Califa: Your arrogance will be your undoing. You truly believe yourself to be better than El Califa? Then what would you be doing without his guidance Amber Warren? You would still be around the likes of Scumm and Angel, wasting away your talents and your ability! Has he treated you so wrong? Opening his home and gym to you and your brother? He's helped you become a champion in WZCW. We've done this together Amber, and you're prepared to throw that away for your own ego?

Amber stops at the door and turns around, shaking her head as an almost sinister laughter escapes her as she lowers her head for a moment. She brushes her hair back as she looks up at Califa.

Amber: I never needed you to succeed Califa. I have already won in my life. Look at me. I already got what I wanted. I'm no longer the fat little kid that everyone made fun of. I'm the svelte, sexy, and dangerous masked Dragon Queen. And most of all Califa. I am a winner. And if I have to be the one to drag this team through everything and keep those god forsaken title,s then so be it. You're too soft to do what needs to be done. You know what, you're no better than Young Justice thinking I needed to be saved from that pathetic gym trainer and his wannabe Ty Burna clone. The next time they cross my path, I will bury them Califa, and you can either help me dig the hole or join them in the crypt.

El Califa: You've completely lost it Amber.

Amber: I've lost nothing. I've finally understood what I exactly have inside me, and it's not aggressiveness. It's the spirit to fight that you lost along with your balls to Drake Callahan at Lethal Lottery. And then what happened Califa? You couldn't even bring yourself to take out someone that mocks your mask. You speak of your tradition and the honor you carry in your mask, and you let it be spit on by Ty Burna. You preach your virtues all day long and you can't even follow them. So from this point on, keep your morals to yourself because I'm not listening. I'm going out to that ring and I'm going to brutally beat whoever they put in front of me. Whether it's Cerberus, Young Justice, or Showtime and Winters, they are all going to feel the Dragon Queen's wrath!

Amber turns to walk out but Califa grabs her by the arm and stops her. Amber tries to rip her arm away but Califa holds firm as he strongly shakes his head. Every word has stung, every criticism perhaps a bit harsh, but correct. But there was one thing she needed to realize.

El Califa: Do you know what El Califa has gone through in his life Amber Warren? He has struggled since day one to get what little slice of heaven he has in his life. He has scratched and clawed from the bottom, all the way to the top! And yet he fell once again. Every time he's fallen, he's gotten back up and he's fought harder. While you sat there and were mocked for your weight, he was getting shot at for wearing the wrong colored shirt in the wrong part of the barrio. Do you know what it's like to have an uzi to your head Amber Warren? Because you simply looked towards someone? I have. I have seen unspeakable things happen all around me Amber. The broken city. The broken families. The gangs. Blood and death had surrounded me. All it took was one oath and El Califa would have been in the same position as those that held that gun to his head. You want to speak about being the best, having balls, and doing what is needed? He has done everything short of killing someone to feed his family, to provide for his mother and sister. Standing on the corner until two in the morning, selling drugs to every seedy individual that needed their fix. Do you want to know why I shrug off not getting the win against Ricky Runn? Because I should have been dead so many times over. Every second I am alive, is just another bonus to my lifespan. Look at the support you have Amber Warren, and realize that everything you have should be cherished, and that it is something that I will never have again. I have no family left. I'm the last one standing.

Amber: And who's fault was that Califa?

Califa tilts his head, his hands balling into fists once again, Amber smirking ever so slightly at the dig.

El Califa: Don't you dare.

Amber: Dare what Califa? Talk about the truth of what happened with your sister? Oh you were just tired, it was a long night wasn't it? The hardships of being on the road. Your personal demons and everything else that's effecting your life. I bet you were just roaring drunk like that night I found you at the gym. Soaking in tequila. So why don't you speak the truth Califa. Why don't you just admit that you were drunk and it's because of your actions that your sister is dead!

Silence. It washes over the scene and it's as if time itself has stopped. Califa remains standing, his hands suddenly stop shaking as Amber's breathing slows to a crawl. Califa takes a step backwards, his head lowered, the rage just completely washing over his body, almost a serene anger in nature. He stumbles forward, brushing his shoulder off of Amber's as he walks past her and into the hallway, the smirk quickly dissapating on Amber's face as she suddenly realizes what she said. She sheds the mask, a horrified look on her face for several moments as the silence continues. She drops down to a seated position, holding her head in her hands, the mask of the Dragon Queen sitting in front of her. She reaches out and grabs the mask, holding it up to her face at eye level. Except there are no tears. There's no crying or calling out for forgiveness, but there is a change, as a sadistic smile forms on Amber's face. She slides the mask back on and bounces up, walking out into the hallway as she watches Califa walking slowly towards the exit.

Amber: And where you going? Are you giving up so soon?

Califa stops as he reaches for the door handle, his head lowered as he listens to her words. He tilts his head up, looking over his shoulder at his tag partner. He turns back to the door, was he running again? No. This time it was merely to prevent something horrible from happening, words that sit on the tip of his tongue, ready to lash out with a dragon's ferocity. Instead he merely speaks these words.

El Califa: For we are.........Los Magnificos.........Dragones.

He opens the door and holds his head up high and stares down his partner, his hand on the outside door handle.

El Califa: But perhaps, it shall be you that hears my vengeful roar!

Califa slams the door shut as the smile disappears on Amber's face, letting out an angry scream as the scene fades to black.

Constantine slowly gets to his feet and tags in Winters. Winters pulls Mussél up, and attempts to lift him up for the Rapture, but Mussél delivers a series of elbow to the back of Winters’ head, before Belly to Belly Suplexing him across the ring. Mussél is running on empty as he scrambles to the corner and tags in Ramparte. Ramparte stalks Winters as he uses the ropes to get up. Winters turns around and Ramparte kicks him in the gut, hooking the arms for the Cataclysm, but Winters hits a Back Body Drop to get out of it! Ramparte his the mat hard. As he gets up, Winters comes from behind, puts on the Cobra Clutch and hits the Crucifix! He hooks the outside leg, 1…. 2…. 3!

Harrys: Here are your winners, Constantine and Michael Winters!

The scene opens once again inside the familiar St. Mary of the Angels Church in Chicago. Today was a very special day for not only Michael but the entire parish. The Church had been looking for someone to fill Father Fournier's shoes ever since his untimely passing but had yet to find someone that suited the church. The parish was very loyal to Father Fournier, having spent years, some decades under his guidance. This made them loyal to Michael as well, as he shared the same passion for God's message as Father Fournier did. Even with the support of the entire church and Michael's unwavering faith, the Bishop would not hear of it. Becoming a Pastor was not something to be taken lightly, His message was absolute and only those worthy of His love could spread his message.

Unbeknownst to Michael however, Father Fournier had spoken to the Bishop on many occasions on Michael's behalf before his passing. Speaking of his rebirth, unwavering faith and dedication to the parish over the past 5 years. He knew that if there was anyone to continue on in his name and take care of the parish, it was Michael. Still, the Bishop could not bend the rules for one man. He realized though how beneficial a relationship with Michael could be. Being able to spread His message on such a grand stage as the WZCW would undoubtedly bring more to the cause, and thus an agreement was struck. Michael, having been guided by Father Fournier for years would be mentored by another man of faith, Father Carlson. He was not like Father Fournier though. A tough and somewhat distant old man, he had been spreading His word for over 30 years. He followed the scripture to the letter and would bring a disciplined and unforgiving approach to his teachings, something Michael sorely lacked under the warm and loving approach of Father Fournier and welcomed with open arms.

Father Carlson's first service had ended 10 minutes ago and Michael had retreated to his solar to pray to the Holy Father and give thanks for his blessings not only today but this past week on Meltdown where he was given the gift of vanquishing Cerberus. Today was a blessing on many levels though, the arrival of Father Carlson had reinvigorated the parish's faith and they were also celebrating the announcement of a new hall and small training center, allowing them to hold Church functions just a step away from their place of worship. This also allowed Michael to stay close to Father Carlson to continue his spiritual training while continuing to hone his craft as a practitioner of His will in the WZCW. An unknown benefactor had donated a substantial amount of money to the Church and would be arriving later today to meet with Michael, Father Carlson to discuss the progress of the new additions to the Church.

Michael finished with his time alone with Him and made his way outside. It was a beautiful sunny day in the windy city, a blessing from Him no doubt. Tables were set up with food and drink as the sound of laughter filled the air as children played at the far end of the property. Michael took a deep breath, intoxicated by the glory of His kingdom and continued on. Father Carlson was making the rounds, introducing himself to the parish as Michael made his way through the crowd, exchanging pleasantries with some of the more familiar faces. There was a small dais set up and Michael stepped up upon to speak to the crowd. It didn't take much to get their attention; Michael was 6'7 and was closer to 8 feet tall upon the dais. People gathered round as Michael motioned with his arms for them to quiet down.

Michael: Hello everyone and thank you for being here. As you know, today is a very exciting day for us all here at the St. Mary of the Angels. The passing of Father Fournier hit us all very hard, but we should not mourn. Celebrate the life of Father Fournier for led a Godly life, spreading his message to anyone that would listen. From young to old, it did not matter who you were, only who you wanted to be and he was willing to help anyone along that journey. You all know my story and yet Father Fournier found it in his heart to take me under his wing and show me that if I gave myself over to Him I could be saved, and saved I was. He pulled me out of the depths of my own Hell, I did not want to live. I thought death was my only escape but he showed me that I could cleanse my soul if I gave my life to God. All these years later I stand here today a Champion. Not of the WZCW but of His will. I champion his cause and will look to trod further down my path to salvation under our new Father. Our Lord has blessed us today by allowing Father Carlson to join us here and lead us through the long journey that is life and the ultimate goal of eternal life in His kindgom.

Michael motions to Father Carlson who gives a curt nod as the crowd claps loudly for him.

However, that is not the only reason we are here. Someone here today took it upon themselves to donate to the cause allowing us to go ahead and build the new hall and training center that will be finished within the next two weeks. This will not only allow us to hold functions so close to our place of worship but also allows me to continue my training while studying under Father Carlson. If that man would reveal himself to us now, he deserves not only our thanks but he has surely been touched by the grace of God and I would like to personally thank him on behalf of the church.

The crowd begun to whisper amongst themselves, all wondering who the generous benefactor was. Michael noticed a blonde streak of hair moving throughout the crowd, making their way to the front of the group.

“Who else but me could afford all this?” He said with a smirk.

A wide smile from ear to ear spread across Michael’s face as David “Showtime” Cougar stepped out of the crowd, revealing himself as the benefactor.

David!

Michael stepped down to embrace Showtime. The donation to the church had meant the world to not only him but the entire parish.

I would say I’m surprised but I’m not. I knew the moment I met this man that God had placed him in my path so we could do great things together in His name. Please, everyone join me in thanking David Cougar for his generous contribution to His cause.

Michael starts clapping as the crowd follows along, a bit leery of David at first from his antics in WZCW but trusting in Michael’s judgment.

Showtime: Thank you everyone for the warm welcome, you are too kind. I just want to say that you all have a very bright future alongside Michael and Father Carlson and I’m glad I could lend a helping hand and be a part of it.

The crowd once again gives a round of applause and continues on with the festivities as Michael and David make their way through the throng of people.

I am forever in your debt, David. What you’ve done here today has touched me on a spiritual level. I feel that He has placed you at my side to accomplish great things; an ally such as you cannot be quantified with only words, I will show you how much this means to me on Meltdown when we decimate those ungodly heathens.

Yes, I don’t doubt this is the start of a great partnership. You impressed me last week on Meltdown, keeping a level head with Constantine while getting the win over Cerberus. I thought you might have some ring rust but you proved me wrong, I expect nothing but the best this week.

I give everything in His name week in and week out. With you at my side, I do not see how these two could possibly defeat us. Yes, they are the WZCW Tag Team Champions, an impressive feat. But that doesn’t change the fact that they are still ungodly people who need to be purged from WZCW. The company is overrun with faithless ones, what better way to let them know we are here to purge them then to take out the top duo in the company?

Indeed. A victory on Meltdown would be the first stepping stone on the path to greater and more important goals. We cannot take these two lightly though, they’re the Champions for a reason and El Califa Dragon almost had Ricky Runn defeated last week. Still, they cannot match our raw talent and ability if we work together.

And you forgot the most important thing as well, He is on our side. Do not think your deed here today goes unnoticed, David. When we step into the squared circle on Meltdown, we will not be alone. He is with us at all times and will lead us down the path to ultimate salvation and eternal life in His Kingdom. He will bless us with victory as we fight in his name to purge the WZCW of these high-flying apostates. This is a competition between gladiators, not a circus act. It is an atrocity that these two call themselves wrestlers when they are no more than glorified stuntmen. I do not take pride in striking a woman but they are not absolved of his judgment and Amber will be handled accordingly to His will. This El Califa Dragon hides behind a veil in a vain attempt to conceal himself. God sees all and knows the sins that hide in the depths of your soul behind that mask, he will not be spared either.

Yes, of course… His will. I am glad you decided to align yourself with me Michael, a motivated man is a dangerous one. Two motivated men are even more dangerous. This week on Meltdown will be a true test on how far this partnership can go.

I look forward to doing battle alongside such an honorable man as you in the squared circle. It is an honor to call you a team mate and friend and I will show you how much this donation to our cause means to be on Meltdown when we smite down the tag team champions and let the WZCW know that we are here to stay and it is only the beginning. These two will not know what hit them when His will is paired with a 3 time WZCW Heavyweight Champion. They will be laid to waste in His name and for the greater good of us all.

Michael and David shake hands and make their way over to Father Carlson as the screen fades to black.

Scene opens at the WZCW House Show at Quicken Loans Arana in Cleveland, Ohio. "Showtime" David Cougar is seen standing around backstage dressed in a very expensive suit. He is chatting with some of the road agents as they all stare at the TV in front of them. A camera high up in the rafters is taping the action going on inside the ring for the agents to watch and review. Currently on the TV is a tag team match between Cerberus and Young Justice.

Tim: So many new faces lately. The roster has changed quite a bit from a year ago.

Showtime: Does anyone of them standout amongst you gentleman?

Jim: A lot of them do have real good talent, but most are still getting used to how we do matches here in WZCW.

Tim: I think Theron Daggershield has impressed me the most thus far. I see World Champion in his future.

Jim: With all these new faces it is difficult to give some of them the guidance and advice to succeed like Daggershield has.

Showtime: Perhaps they should look no further than from the guidance of a former three time WZCW Champion.

Tim: Looking to add a few new faces to your elite circle?

Jim: Tell me Show, what do you think of Cerberus and how they matched up against your boys on Meltdown?

On the TV, Mussel and Ramparte hit a double hip toss on Haven.

Showtime: Constantine he's not my "boy", I thought Cerberus looked not bad out there. The team has potential, both these teams have potential. WZCW is a landmine of questionable talent right now and the wrestler with the best talent right now could go straight to the top, and I can make that happen.

Tim and Jim chuckle and the three continue to watch the match till it's conclusion. Showtime excuses himself and walks down the hall towards the dressing room. He stands outside the room and bangs on the door twice. A short while later the door opens and out walks Michael Winters.

Showtime: You're up next. Are you ready for this?

Winters nods his head. Him and Showtime bow their heads in silent prayer and then make their way down the hall to the curtain before the entrance ramp. The two men wait there, Winters staring focused at the curtain while Showtime adjusts the collar of his shirt. Winters music hits and the two men walk out together. The crowd boos loudly and Showtime yells back at them to give them some respect. They both step into the ring and Showtime grabs a mic and addresses the crowd.

Showtime: Everyone here needs to rise up... and show this man a little more respect. Standing in this ring with me... is the future of this company. What has happened to this company... where have all the former World Champions gone? You have all been sold short... and have been given the lower, joke, middle card from the past two years as a substitute. This man was butted out before and was unable to get a chance to save you all from the Runns and Beards of this world. This man is as pure inside the ring as he is outside of it. Here to bless you all with his talent, Michael Winters!

Showtime lowers his mic and backs up as Michael Winters steps forward with his arms raised and his head held high. The crowd boos but that doesn't affect either man inside the ring. Showtime exits the ring and the bell rings as Winters stares down his first opponent. Showtime has set up for him this evening a gauntlet match against three local talents. As I'm running late on time I'll spare you all the details and say that Winters kicked all three of their asses in under 5 minutes.

Showtime steps through the curtain clapping his hands as he'd been the whole way up the ramp. Winters walks through the curtain behind him panting a little. Showtime turns around and the two shake hands. Winters heads to the dressing room to shower. Showtime looks around and sees Matt Tastic getting ready for his match. Showtime approaches him and engages in small talk as the scene ends.

----------

Scene reopens and Showtime is sitting high up in the rafters. Currently going on inside the ring is the semi main event, John Constantine verse Triple X. Showtime hears a noise and looks back to see Michael Winters. The two shake hands and Winters shares a seat beside Showtime.

Showtime: That was very impressive out there tonight.

Winters: With you guiding my career I feel like I can overcome any obstacle.

Showtime: That's good to think like that. Once you believe that you can overcome any obstacle then nothing can stop you. It's that belief that has lead me to my greatness and what will lead you towards yours.

The two nod and turn their attention down to the ring. Winters clenches his fist.

Winters: Do you want me to run down there and jump him?

Showtime: Absolutely not.

Winters bites his lip, ashamed at what he had said.

Showtime: I admire your commitment, but that is something I never want you to think. As much as it is my job to help advance your career, I must also keep an eye out for anyone else in WZCW who could benefit. There are other elite talents out there and they require saving too, brother. We must help them and only then will we be rewarded for our efforts.

Winters nods his head and the two continue watching the match. Before it ends Showtime gets up and motions to leave.

Showtime: We don't need to see the end of it. I've already seen enough to know how it'll end.

The two men walk through the curtain and step into an elevator. Showtime turns around inside as Winters pushes a button. The door closes in front of Showtime's smiling face right as the bell sounds inside the arena.

----------

The elevator opens and Showtime and Winters step out. Conveniently enough, the bump right into Johnny Klamour, who's primed and ready for an interview.

Klamour: Alright boys, first question. What's with the connection?

Showtime turns to Winters and then turns back to Klmaour.

Showtime: Winters saved me inside the ring at Unscripted. In doing so, he has shown me the light for what I must do. It's not just about ridding the world of card stealing dinosaurs like Titus, it's also about giving back and helping others reach their full, true, potential. Let's face it, WZCW is at the lowest it has ever been. Its champion was one of the biggest jokes ever in WZCW. A guy whose most known thing about him is his beard is going to win WZCW Title. The fans need a talented wrestler who is able to compete at the very top level, and Winters is one of those guys, and Klamour let me tell you there are others hidden on the roster who just need that little bit of help to get farther. I'm looking for WZCW's elite and Winters is its first.

Klamour shrugs his shoulders and raises his eyebrows.

Klamour: Alright, Winters... do... you believe the kool aid Showtime has been giving you?

Winters: No one, other than the Lord and Father Fournier, has given me as much hope as Showtime has. I believe that with him we can accomplish anything in WZCW.

Klamour: Well that sort of commitment will get you far in the tag team division, which seems to be where you're heading as you face the tag team champions this week in a non title match on Meltdown 102. What are your thoughts on facing Los Magnificos Dragones, El Califa Dragon and Amber Warren?

Showtime: My thoughts are when will this novelty act end in WZCW? They've been champions for how long already? That's the thing, nobody notices because even in this wading pool of talent in WZCW they don't stand out. Behind the scenes the argue like a married couple and inside the ring they are as bland a vanilla yogurt. Not long ago Steven Holmes and Celeste Crimson we're supposed to reinvent the tag team division. Magnitudinis! Did the fans vote for that name or did it come out of Holmes and Celestes trailer park love making? Anyway, they had to relinquish the belts and who do they give them to... a gimmick. A group tailored to specific demographics, put out there to pop the ratings and put on a good old trampoline act. There was a time where a person like me would go out there and fight someone like Ty Burna and we'd beat the shit out of each other and people would cheer. Now I'm more likely to get monkey flipped and across the ring and jumped up fighting somebody like El Califa. And he's not the only one out there, there are others out there who's only talent is they can flip around and do cool tricks in the ring. That's not real quality wrestling. Me and Winters trained to properly wrestle. He are both decorated former champions capable of taking on anyone of any size, shape, gender, or species in this messed up wrestling company. From what I saw two weeks ago, Winters carried his team on Meltdown. A non title match against Los Magnificos Dragones may soon lead to a title match in our future.

The two men slowly walk away. Klamour fires back with a quick question.

Klamour: Any comment regarding John Constantine?

Showtime turns to look back at Johnny.

Showtime: No comment.

Klamour: Any comment about Titus?

Showtime smiles.

Showtime: Good luck in your match. We'll be watching you.

Showtime and Winters walk away as the scene ends.
