The EurAsian Championship Tournament continues in the semi finals as Ty Burna takes on Chief Anoki.

Deadline is June 29th at 11:59 EST.

Return of a Pilgrim.

The meeting was hard. The journey was rough. The fight was epic. Anoki is as happy as he has ever been.
Last week he stole a fake goodbye, and for now at least, she rests no longer on his mind.
At last he focuses on the task at hand. Tonight he fights again. The fickle fiend of chance says that this will be his strongest challenge yet, but challenge is a word known well.

They say his opponent is a man of shadow. Well Anoki knows shadow well. Shadows are why he is here, and whilst a lifetime may be spent running from his own, another man's darkness will never again strike fear into his heart. Sooner or later we are all flesh and blood, and whilst escaping ones owe darkness may require one to bleed to death, the darkness of another wayward soul can be more easily removed.

Darkness in front and behind. For now at least, Anoki is the light.

Before Meltdown 25 - Backstage

For once he wants to talk. He has fasted on words these past dozen moons, faint whispers with the ladies of light and darkness, spoken silence with the old man who seems to detest him so. Little is spoken by those with nothing to say, but now at last he feels he has a tale worth telling, and there is only one person he could tell it to.

In weeks gone by he has hung around, skulking in the shadows praying for a chance encounter, tonight he seeks her out.

Knock. Knock.

She has been his inspiration and motivation. When he fell back into the pit she was there to pull him out. Last week he had to say goodbye. Tonight he has to thank her.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

The door opens. As in his mind, Rebecca Sera is there; cell phone in hand, headphones around neck, snatching a moment’s peace before the show.

Serra: Chief? Well this is an unexpected surprise. What brings you to my little corner of the building?

Anoki stands stiffly.

Anoki: I just thought… if you’re not busy, I could have a quick word?

Rebecca smiles. She waves the cell phone.

Serra: Not busy at all Chief. Normally people just text a time and place and tell me to show up.

Anoki surveys the device in mild embarrassment. He watched them appear during his lifetime, but he wouldn’t know how to use one if he tried. The outside world flies by quickly on the edge of a black hole.
Serra smiles again.

Serra: Don’t worry. Manners are nice. Come in.

Anoki blinks. An unexpected invitation to an unexpected location. He never imagined how Serra’s room would be; but he would have expected something… more. A moth eaten pink sofa, a patio chair and table and a pile a cardboard boxes.

Serra: I’m afraid you’re not seeing it at its best tonight. Apparently a new girls being brought in because Leon… well… you know… so I’ve got to squash up a little. Apparently John’s already put in an order for a new four seat deluxe reclining sofa for the guys room… although I think he might be in for a shock when he asks the boys in the truck to ship it between shows. Anyway, have a seat.

Rebecca drops to the sofa. Anoki tentatively takes the garden chair. She talks so freely, he struggles to snatch any words to say.

Serra: So what’s on your mind Chief?

Anoki: I guess… I just wanted to say thank you for the other week. You know… I was sitting with a towel on my head for a few days.

He blushes faintly, fully aware of how ridicules this must sound. Becky doesn’t laugh or smile at it though.

Anoki: What you said, it really helped me. I’ve been able to get a lot of stuff off of my chest these past two weeks.

Serra: That was why you vanished after Meltdown? You know John was crowing to anybody who’ll listen that you wouldn’t be coming back.

Anoki: What did you think?

Serra: I saw you leaving the ring after Michaels. Anybody with an expression like that comes back.

Ankoi: Well you were right. I went to my old home. There were a couple of shadows there I had to face.

Serra does not reply. She knows with how many locks and chains Anoki guards his past. She keeps silent, handing him every opportunity to change the subject. He does not. Perhaps he is finally ready to talk about it. She tentatively reaches;

Serra: Last week you looked like you’d traveled a long way…

She trails off. Afraid to probe further. She has seen the young man in front of her face down face down a host of foes in the ring. He has survived the rumblings of discontentment, and the lashing tongues that plague the business. In the months he’s been here she doesn’t think anybody has fazed him… but this thing is his past clearly terrifies him so much, she is almost scared to find out what it is.

Anoki: Yes.

He pauses. Is this it? Time to bring the daemons out the play, to scare the one woman who has ever been kind to him away. To flaunt his darkness for the world to see… sooner or later, we are all flesh and blood.

Anoki: Yes. I walked back to Carso…

Nobody knocks this time. But the door flies open. A new face enters the fray. Stacey Madison strides confidently into the room. Her neck flicks, cat like, taking in her surroundings before settling in on Rebecca.

Stacey: No. No. No. This will not do at all. I don’t know if this is your idea of interior decorating love, but if I’m to be stuck sharing a dressing room with someone then it had better be a damn sight more comfortable that his.

She turns to look through Anoki.

Stacey: Is that patio furniture!?

Serra: So you’re Leon’s replacement then?

Stacey isn’t listening, instead poking at the pile of cardboard boxes.

Stacey: Sorry love, what was that? I’m going to need these shifting out the way. My wardrobe is coming along behind. So you actually live in this pit then?

Serra: It’s only for a week at a time.

Stacey: Eaugh! Well travelling from sty to sty might work for you dear, but now I’m here something will have to be done about this. You can make a start my removing the adolescent male from the woman’s dressing room

Rebecca frowns.

Serra: This is Anoki Akechetta. You know, one of the wrestlers. They tend to hang around the place from time to time.

Stacey at last turns to take Anoki in. She does not appear impressed.

Stacey: An-oh-key… that’s a name where you come from is it?

Anoki: Johnny Klamor calls me ‘Boy Wonder’ if you’d prefer that.

In the background Becky covers her mouth the stifle a laugh. Stacey frowns.

Stacey: The Boy Wonder? Well then I’ll be The Girl Wonder-ing why you’re still in my dressing room. Out.

Rebecca rolls her eyes. Showing him to the door she whispers under her breath.

Serra: Sorry about this Chief. I’ll catch up with you after the show. I think I’ve got the deal with the new girl for a little bit.

She smiles wryly. In the background, Stacey is staring fixedly at Rebecca’s stuff, waiting for it to move. Anoki nods his head. Turns to leave.

Serra: Good luck tonight.

Anoki: Likewise.

They part.

In the light once more he stands.

Darkness shrinks within his wake.

The video transmission comes in, a shot of a full moon hanging ominously in a cloud covered sky. Slowly the camera zooms out to reveal Ty Burna perched atop the edge of a building rooftop. His head is lowered gazing down at the city street below him before raising his head and staring dead into the camera.

The time is drawing near. The time for my true target to be revealed. You see I am one mere victory away from reaching the finals of this tournament at Civil Revolution. This moment is so close, I can taste the blood I will cause my victim to spill. I have but one person standing in my way to reach my goal to satisfy the Ouija's thirst. Anoki, unfortunately for you, you are the final road block in my path, and I will not allow you to derail my momentum.

He stands slowly, perilously walking along the edge of the rooftop. He makes his way to a corner and stops, placing his hands behind his back while a wide grin crosses his face.

I hope you realize Anoki how much I enjoy tormenting my opponents. My soul burns with excitement every time I enter that ring, and inflict the punishment that these greedy and supposed moral sycophants deserve. But you see Anoki, I do not see these traits in you. For this, and this is the first time I will ever say this, I have a small bit of respect for you. We are alike in one way Anoki, we both are trying to escape a figurative prison that we have been placed in. We both survived the streets, but that is where our similarities end Anoki. Where you have tried to travel down the peaceful path, I have chosen the one that that is filled with blood and carnage to receive my release from my hell.

Ty drops down into a perched position again, the grin disappearing into a scowl as he throws his hair back behind him. He squints his eyes as a breeze picks up, the ends of his robe and hair begin flying in the wind.

Meltdown looms soon Anoki, in which I will be again the predator, and you will be the prey. If you need further proof on what this predator can bring to the table, take a look at what I did to Mr. Cougar last week. I lulled him into thinking he had the upper hand, and then I struck. His attacks had no affect on me and for his boasting, he felt the burn of The Ouija Flame. But I know better Anoki, that will not work with you. Last week I was like the serpent, using my sheer intelligence to outwit Cougar, this week I will simply maul you like a tiger catching a gazelle. So Anoki, I ask one thing of you, bring everything you can to this match. I want you to fail like the others when you are trying your hardest.

He stands once more, stretching his arms out straight across with the moon directly behind him. He lowers his head and the wind picks up more. His voice deepens as he begins to speak once more.

Anoki, I will defeat you at Meltdown, but I will not leave you decimated. No, I am rather intrigued by your meditative style, it is such a drastic change from myself that I want to keep you around to study you. Oh you will be in pain, more pain than you have ever felt before, but you will have the grim satisfaction that you will become nothing more than a study case for myself before I do what I will do to everyone in WZCW, and use them to feed the Ouija's thirst.

Now is your time Anoki, this is your moment to rise up and shine, only to collapse under the weight of the darkness that I have become engrossed in. I want you to taste what that darkness feels like, the power that you get. In this world today, the light will never thrive, it will only wilt and wither. I applaud your attempt at living in the light, but you and I both know that will not last, and you will fall back into the misery and despair that I have embraced rather than fight against.

He throws his head back and lets out a wicked laugh as the clouds cover the moon. Lighting strikes behind him and it begins raining. Ty walks slowly to the middle of rooftop edge, his hands grasped firmly in fists.

At Meltdown Anoki, we will face off, and I will make your life a worse nightmare in one night than it ever has been living on the streets. You will suffer, and you will feel the pain my darkness inflicts. The Ouija has spoken, and thus your run will end at Meltdown. I say to you, do not be disappointed in failure, but be satisfied in the fact that you gave it your best shot to fight against what the Ouija has spoken.

From the beginning of life, we receive and inevitably accept pain. When the Reaper come, we will our pain and suffering to him, and allow ourselves sweet release. My pain and suffering will continue until I can defeat the Reaper himself. Meltdown approaches Anoki, prepare yourself.

With that he steps off the roof, falling at a sudden inertia. The camera moves quickly down towards the street, with no sign of Ty anywhere. The camera slowly fades to black with the sound of rain and thunder in the distance.
