Matt (and Jeff) Hardy back to WWE?

Maybe I'm missing something but I really thought more people would be talking about the potential rumour of Matt Hardy and, possibly, Jeff Hardy, heading back to the WWE.

As has been reported on the main page, Triple H has already "put the feelers" out to see if Matt Hardy would be interested in making his WWE return. The report also notes that the WWE have been impressed by the way Matt Hardy has handled himself in TNA lately and, presumably, are hoping to get some of the action in WWE. The Final Deletion is something that Matt and Jeff should be proud of and embarrassed with in equal measure. But the fact of the matter is that people were talking about them and TNA for the first time in a long while. It speaks volumes for the creativity of the Hardy brothers.

However, the report also makes mention of the fact that Matt is enjoying having some measure of control over his contract and has been enjoying showcasing what he can do without many restrictions.

At this point, I'd be very surprised if the Hardy Boys sign with the WWE again. For my money, the Hardy Boys are amongst the most over acts in the history of wrestling (yes, you heard that right). But I think they're also enjoying being big fish in a little pond, with no offence meant to TNA at all. A lot can be said about the restrictions on their characters that the WWE would put in place and that would likely be the stumbling block, in addition to the full time schedule that the WWE insists upon.

But what do you think? Could it actually happen? Should it?

They'll both return for a final run. WWE would have Matt just to get Jeff, who it's easy to forget was the hottest baby face in wrestling 7 years ago.

I see them back there in two years, whether TNA is still ticking over or not.

Could it actually happen?
Should it?

Could it happen? Of course if could. At the end of the day, money talks. I don't know how financially set either brother is, but if WWE were to put down some silly offer then it's more than likely that The Hardy's will go.

A full-time schedule isn't going to happen, but we've seen WWE sign a few guys up on part-time/limited appearances, probably TV only + the odd house show.

Would Matt & Jeff Hardy have the same creative freedom in WWE as they have in TNA, it's doubtful. One thing 'the broken saga' program has showed is that Matt Hardy (I don't know if Jeff has an input) is one creative genius. A ring veteran who has somehow restarted his career in a different direction that has worked a treat.

It's the lack of creative freedom that would hold The Hardy's back from (re)signing with WWE.

If you think the Hardy's are coming back, I have a bridge to sell you. First off, they cannot handle WWE's maniacal schedule. They are NOT going to get a "part-time" schedule. Second, Jeff is a convicted felon. He cannot wrestle outside the USA. Third, Matt has COMPLETE creative control over his character. So you HONESTLY think that Stamford will let Matt keep a gimmick that they did not create? Broken Matt is the best thing in eons. But, VKM would rather lose money with something he creates rather than make fortune with something he didn't. In plain, simple English, The Hardy's are making a killing on the Indy scene with a very fresh gimmick that is earning them a boatload of money. They control their non-TNA schedule. They control their gimmick and creative direction. Do you think they will give up that for a company that will force them to change?

Oh , BTW, if you think that the Hardy's really need a TV deal to get across. Many promotions are streaming online, and buying the airtime. For example, this specimen of wrestler, who seems so different now, on the UK's What Culture Pro Wrestling yesterday afternoon. BTW, the match took place last week:

I hope they'll be back but obviously I have very little insight to predict whether or not it's an actual possibility.

I feel like at least once a year since his unfortunate departure in 2009 we have had a thread about Jeff Hardy coming back to WWE. IMO he should've never left, he was without question the most over face in wrestling during that time and was in the hottest feud of that year with CM Punk; I do understand why he left though it is very well-documented how the grueling WWE schedule can burn a guy out. Since then we have had several legends of wrestling's past return with part-time contracts. These guys include The Rock, Sting, Brock Lesnar, The New Age Outlaws, and The Dudley Boys.

I think Jeff is absolutely worthy of working whatever schedule he sees fit, and if WWE can swallow their pride (which they did for the aforementioned guys) they can make a lot of money. As for Matt, this is the first year where some people see him more has the main catch of the deal instead of an "add-on". IMO he will always be the add-on, mainly because of the way their WWE careers went and because Jeff still has every quality that made him so popular in the past. The fact that the IWC loves to ignore is that casual WWE fans still don't know shit about any wrestling promotion besides WWE. They have no idea who the hell Broken Matt Hardy is, and while it'll definitely get a great pop in a smark city that will not equal ratings or money for WWE. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want him back or didn't want to see him try his best to get Broken Matt over with the WWE Universe, but I think it's ridiculous to believe a Matt Hardy return would have a bigger impact than a Jeff return in any capacity. Hopefully we see them both back for one more run in the big league before they retire though.

I firmly believe the Hardys will return for one last run before retiring, but that won't be until after this Broken Hardy stuff has run its course. It shouldn't come a moment before because as others have stated, they're making a killing on this gimmick and don't really need to go to WWE right now.

There's no urgency because their legacies in WWE are set. A Hall of Fame induction is all but assured for them as a tag team, and they've collectively won almost everything there is to win in the company. There's little for them to prove in WWE, and a return would be more for legacy reasons rather than a financial need.

Right now WWE needs Matt and Jeff more than Matt and Jeff need WWE. I can see Vince/HHH allowing them to work a more relaxed schedule if that's what it takes to get them to sign. Unlike the Dudleyz, the Hardyz are just as over as singles acts as they are a team, which makes them far more valuable and worth bending over for a bit more. They might bring a few more eyeballs from nostalgic fans and add some much-needed name value to the shows (Raw especially) so they're defintely worth the money. It all hinges on whether Matt and Jeff are willing to work in a less creative environment in order to wind their careers down on the biggest stage. I don't think they are just yet.

Please let this rumor be true! I'm sick of both Hardy's and their current stupid "Brother Nero" storyline! Please Vince, take your trash back! Neither are in the main event, they are just plodding along in one of the dumbest storylines ever! Vince, throw out the money and get your trash back boy!

If Matt and Jeff return (as a tag team, singles wrestlers, or both), it'll be for a nostalgia run and to help put over the likes of Owens, Rollins, Ambrose, New Day, The Usos, American Alpha, and Reigns. And they're coming back as Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy, not Broken Matt Hardy or Brother Nero. I just have a hard time believing in WWE doing anything meaningful with a Broken Matt Hardy character. Maybe a feud with Bray Wyatt to put two eccentric and bathshit crazy characters against each other, but the chances of the feud actually working out are slim.

Although, I'm not 100% sure it'll happen. I've read interviews, where Jeff openly talks about wanting to return to WWE someday, but unless I'm missing something, I haven't heard anything from Matt. Maybe he's happy in TNA, with creative control over his character and the direction of his storylines, because you can almost guarantee, if Matt returns, he's not going to have the final say on everything that happens.

Simple fact of the matter is, both Matt and Jeff Hardy have had long and successful careers, and I think the physical toll of the business is evident on the both of them. You would have to think that both guys are reaching the end of the road, and likely want to cash in on some serious dollars before riding off into the sunset. So I am certain that for this reason alone, either or both of them will end up back in the big leagues. Come back for a short term run, complete with some large pay cheques (and on time too) and a final Wrestlemania moment.

wwe's hectic rigorous schedule is something Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy won't go back too!
Second of all TNA allows Matt Hardy complete control of his character and ideas he has with it. Matt said it himself that he wants to make TNA as great as it can possibly be. "I think the wrestling world needs TNA. I think the wrestlers need TNA. I think the fans need TNA. I think they need it to be successful and grow and thrive. And I think that is what I'm here to do. I've been put in a position where I can make a difference. That is certainly my short-term goal is to make a difference and to put TNA on the map. As far as my future goes, I like to keep people guessing! " Why would he even bother heading to wwe for when the guy has complete creative control of his character and is doing well for himself as he sets his own schedule on the independent scene. I don t see Matt Hardy returning to wwe his mattitude is pro TNA! Lets not forget he was mistreated long ago in wwe ven though Matt Hardy is a better wrestler than Jeff wwe mistreated him. So, why they would not push Matt when he's better than Jeff? Jeff draws in way more money than Matt does. Many kids love Jeff Hardy because of his simple highflying. The more they love him, the more they'll want to buy his merchandise. And if you make him a champion, even more merchandise sold that was Classic wwe!

Now Matt is elevating better than his brother Jeff cause Jeff screwed up in TNA when he was on drugs yet TNA took him back. Matt hardy was the innovator of the deletion match he had with his brother Jeff then wwe copies it a week later between new day and Wyatt family ? Matt Hardy said “The ‘Final Deletion’ was something that was so amazing–it was my brilliant masterpiece I performed in front of the world. Then, only a week later, for these guys to go out there and have this compound fight, especially in such a serious environment when the ‘Final Deletion’ was such an entertaining piece of art–it was a hard act to follow, and the fans let them know that.”
Imitation, Hardy agreed, is the sincerest form of flattery.
“It’s wondrous to see your masterpiece be emulated as such,” exclaimed Hardy. “It’s truly delightful.”
Now all these reasons I stated Matt is very happy where he is where he has gained new heights and will go where no wrestler has gone before. Hardy’s “Broken” character is giving TNA new life on Pop TV, as the Impact Zone delivered its highest rating of the year on its July's Thursday night debut .Jeff Hardy resigned with TNA early this year so he has no intention to get buried in the wwe cemetery where wrestlers go to bury their careers and themselves and Matt learned his lesson from the past with wwe you can not dance with the devil vinny mac and cannot trust him either so he is learning from the past cause if he ever did go to wwe Broken Matt character and himself will be buried in wwe cemetery along with his brother Nero their characters would be gone deleted !
That is why wwe is trying so hard to buy TNA out to regain wrestlers they lost Galloway, Sandow, Rhodes, EC3 , Angle , Hardy Boys etc

With today's mention of the WWE buying TNA, it will be interesting to see how the guys like the Hardy's fare. I'd be skeptical if the WWE would add many of the remaining TNA guys but adding those guys would fill out the rosters with the
brand split while keeping NXT stocked with upcoming guys.

I'm not going to address the TNA sale to WWE rumours, but realistically the thought applies with what I'll say.

Will WWE really let the Hardys play the Broken characters on TV? Broken Matt is the character that is working, and Broken Brother Nero vicariously. There was a natural progression of storytelling on Impact that gradually introduced us to the character.

The Hardys arrive in WWE and it's like, "hey, they're weirdos now." There'll be no Senor Benjamin, no Vanguard One, none of the trappings will come with them. Even if they did, the characters would be forced to start at square one.

Matt Hardy created his broken character, reason stands he could do it again. Matt has also had a lot of failed characters like Cold Blooded, but a lot of those failures have been due to addictions or lack of a push when he was in WWE.

If the Hardys go back to WWE they will inevitably be watered down by WWE. I hope Impact survives and the Hardys stay there for a long time. Realistically both Hardys are getting older, so moving to WWE for the nostalgia run and HOF nod is smart as it will create post-career opportunities.

I don't think they're headed back there any time soon unless WWE buys TNA, and even then they might take their talents elsewhere.

Matt would only sign if they were giving him a guaranteed World title run... not just the lower title like the ECW one is.. He'd want a significant run with a belt like Jeff had... Jeff would probably want one too, but likely accept Matt's turn to even it out...

One last tag run, one last feud, maybe the possible scenario could be a HOF induction followed by a match... doesn't happen often and their last match could be 1 v 1 as HOF'ers or the Hardyz reuinite one last time against a main level foe at Mania.

WWE has the way to get some variation of Matt in, V2... makes a lot of sense to go that way... He can keep the hair, the accept and some of the corniness. They may even allow Reby in as his valet to sweeten the deal, especially with his history...

Would it be the same, no, but let's be truthful... Broken Hardyz isn't reinventing anything, it's not going to "save" TNA... It's fun because wrestling hasn't been fun for a while... Matt is basically playing ToeCutter from Mad Max... even down to the accent and mannerisms... That might work in WWE right now, less comical/Power Rangers and more dark... The stuff with Bray would be worth it alone...
