Getting Noticed By Management
Where to begin? Let's wind the clocks back 10 years, the Attitude Era was in full swing and there were two men at the top of the heap, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. If you said that Austin saved the WWE from the clutches of Eric Bischoff, you'd be right but, if you said that The Rock was the saving grace of the WWE, you wouldn't be wrong either as a big part of Austin's run was The Rock playing his heel foil. I mean, Austin couldn't just whup Mr. McMahon's ass every week right? In essence, The Rock was, well, the rock that was holding it down especially when Austin was hurt and/or taking his ball and going home.
Back to today, there's a new day in the WWE and once again there are two men at the helm. Now, seeing that there isn't a way to have one man that everyone is going to love thanks to the internet, the role of "top guy" has been tweeked a little bit. We now have John Cena, the actual top guy if you want to take the term for it's actual meaning as he's the face of the company. You think WWE today, you think John Cena but he's also the top guy as far as the women and children, in effect, the demographic that's going to buy stuff outside of a ticket and/or DVD. Cena moves almost as much merchandise as Austin or Hogan did once upon a time. His problem is that the smarks of the internet and the cynical bastards of the world hate his guts. Next, we have Randy Orton, who gets as much love form the IWC as Cena gets hate and is kinda like the top guy their eyes. He's the Vegeta to Cena's Goku, the douche bag we all want to be but don't have the balls just like we want to be half the man the John Cena character is but don't have the balls which is why I think a lot of people hate Cena. Anyway, the question that I pose to you is this, Wrestlezone Forum, which fued would you rather see and why?
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs John Cena: The two top guys of their respective generations in the WWE. Austin was the guy that we all wanted to be, the take no prisoners bad ass that did what he wanted when he wanted. Cena is the WWE's current superhero that you can't ever seem to hurt and that's where it get's kinda interesting. Cena never seems to be hurt but you can hurt Austin, it's just that you're going to have to worry about the payback next week. Both were fantastic heels and were actually better at it than their face roles as Cena can play face but he's just better to me as heel and Austin was never truly a face and more of a 'tweener. The strenghth of the fued is going to come from the build up as they can both cut passionate promos, boy, can Cena cut passionate promos, but mostly because Cena's current style wouldn't lend to it being a great match as he'd be taking an ass whupping for most of the match and that would wear Austin out with his high energy style of working. When he'd work with Rock, he could let The Rock lead the match for a few minutes so that he can take a breather.
The Rock vs Randy Orton: Both third generation superstars, both play douche bags to the tee both were members of memorable stables, both are HHH's biggest rival at the time. The only problem I'd have in this fued is that The Rock would crush RKO when it would come to promos. The thing that made The Rock and Austin's fueds so great was that they were both great at cutting promos, so this fued's true strength is going to come from the match itself which is great because that would allow them to use the Attitude Era's back and forth style as The Rock can lead with the energy and Orton can bring the action if needed although not as much as Austin and The Rock did.
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Randy Orton: Both the badasses of their time and both ran through the McMahon family like they weren't shit. This is going to have the same problem as The Rock vs RKO because RKO'S gonna get dominated mic wise so he's going to have to make it up in the match which is okay because RKO's slow methodical mace would give Austin time to gather himself after his flurries of offense. Another key aspect would be the aftermath as you know it's going to take more than one match with these two to settle things. I'd also love to see the finish as both can hit their finishers out of nowwhere.
The Rock vs John Cena: Great because of the real life animosity between both men, look at the way The Rock looked at him after laying into him at the Hall of Fame back in 2008, he gave him that "I heard what you've been saying, motherfucka" look so it would be that much more believable. Also they can both cut funny promos against each other so it can be both humorous and riveting. They're both infamous for their signature moves so expect a long match. This match also has similar problems to Austin v. Cena as Cena's current style has him just taking a beating for most of the match as opposed to the back and forth style The Rock used.
