Lucifer And His Choices

Ferbian

Has Returned.
It's time to play out a little scenario. If you have just a small bit of knowledge for the lore of Christianity or any God / Satan related religion, you will know this. However I ask of you to bear with me in case I miss some things in how it is actually written.

As we probably all know, Michael cast Lucifer from Heaven to Hell because of his actions when God introduced the humans on earth. God demanded that the angels loved the humans more than anything, more than God himself, the same person that the angels has always shown eternal love towards.

Lucifer disobeyed, and was punished due to it. He refused to love the humans more than god, disobeying the words of God therefore resulted in his banishment from Heaven to live in "eternal damnation" in Hell.

I've been sucked into the whole Supernatural TV series as of late, the TV series displays Lucifer as a very sympathetic personality when encountered correctly. He displays himself in a way that he feels he made the right choice, and was punished in an unworthy way. I quote (Again, note that Supernatural may very well not be the perfect source, however it sounds pretty accurate from the bits I've read as well) "Do you know why god cast me down? Because I loved him, more than anything. And then god created, you, the hairless apes. And then he asked all of us to bow down before you, to love you more than him. And I said, "Father, I can't" And I said "These humans are flawed, murderous beings" and for that, God had Michael cast me into hell. Now tell me, does the punishment fit the crime, especially when I was right"

The bold part is what stands out to me. Lucifer in theory was in his full right to refuse was he not? Was he not right that in theory humanity is the key point to the wrong doing of earth? Ruining "The last perfect handiwork of God"?

I welcome you to answer those parts, however this is not what the whole thread is about. This thread will ask the questions:

Do you feel that Lucifer made the right choice in disobeying the orders of God?

Do you feel that Lucifer in theory was punished wrongly?

And ultimately, would you have done the same if you were put in a position as Lucifer? Or would you have followed the examples of the other archangels?

Note: I know this story may very well have a large difference compared to other tales of God and Lucifer, considering there's many different interpretations of the bible as well as how the whole thing happened. This is simply my interpretation.

This Lucifer is like the ungrateful child from a previous marriage. He is jealous of his new human step-brother and feels that God is paying his new offspring more attention.

Is it really 'unfair' that God ask his over children like Lucifer, Gabriel, Michael etc. to help look after the new, young and vulnerable addition to the family?

Arguable. I mean sure in some way there's sense to what you say, but in the other way is Lucifer's punishment really fair? And if you were in Lucifer's position would you not have done the same?

I mean we can't all expect that somewhere out there that each and every one of us fully takes acceptance to look after the younger step-brothers as you put it. Especially not when asked for us to love them more than our parents themselves. Am I not right?

I would accept that Lucifer and the other angels might have some cause to be aggrieved by their treatment. However, his relegation in importance and dislike of the circumstances is not why Lucifer was punished as heavily as he was. It was his rebellion against Heaven and trying to usurp God's position that got him exiled.

I would say that that is part of Lucifer's angle when it comes to his depiction in TV shows like Supernatural and movies. He is a sympathetic character when you only hear half of the story.

Sure, as I noted there's different interpretations of the way that Lucifer was cast from heaven, as well as there's different interpretations of pretty much anything in the bible, right down to which archangels there is (Roman Catholic saying Gabriel, Raphael and Michael to be the 3 primary ones).

But that's more what adds to this being the scenario aspect of this thread, except of a 100% correct interpretation of the bible, because that is almost impossible. However from the scenario in this thread, I could definitely see it from Lucifer's perspective considering he was put up against demands which obviously were hard for him to fathom and accept.

Its a tricky subject because in a way he is right and in a way he is wrong. There are a lot of murderous people out there and of course we are all flawed but that does not mean that we are all that way, it goes with the whole "good" and "evil" of it all but there aren't many pure murderous and nonmurderous people out there. I wouldn't normally expect a being of such a higher power and intellect to do such broad generalizations but it was apparent since the first showings of the angels that a good portion, if not most, of them look down at humans as if they are nothing and as a lost cause but without the intense hatred for them that Lucifer does. Lucifer seems to want to do anything to get the attention of his dad, even twisting the souls of the very things that he hates more than anything into his own personal "family" of servants that he finds just as expendable as a common fly. It is hard to say whether or not he was right or not as so many exceptions to what Lucifer said have existed.

You do know that is only Milton's story of how it happened, right? It makes for a fun mythology, but Paradise Lost is not part of the bible, is not canon, is not any part of official christian dogma. There is very little biblical support for any satan origin story, very little is mentioned in the bible. Paradise Lost would be the equivalent of the Left Behind series...although much better written. Christian based, but not biblical. Too many people hear the Milton tale of Lucifer's fall and assume that it is accepted as fact within the Christian faith. Paradise Lost is not a book in the bible.
