Love is in the air: Kaitlyn and Cody Rhodes

Vipère Mortelle
So despite not seeing the Divas Champion (or any of the Divas for that matter) in action in recent weeks, we have seen little vignettes of Kaitlyn and Cody's awkward flirting over Cody's 'lovestache'.

With Rhodes as one of the more prominent superstars in early 2012 and having some good tag team highlights towards the conclusion of his 2012, his new singles run has not been at all amazing.

The questions I propose are where do you see this "relationship" going, and should it go anywhere? How do you feel about the relationship? How would you book it further.

Often times these minor relationships that don't get any on air time like AJ's ones have on television, but are pushed aside to the internet just disappear after awhile. With a Diva's division almost completely dead, Cody's superstardom fading out compared to the start of this year, and another power couple on the scene such as Dolph and AJ, I personally would like to see Cody turn full fledged face (or remain as the bad guy conceded heel character that gets cheered on as the anti-hero love interest of the top babyface Diva) and go against Dolph and AJ in a winner take all match at WrestleMania. Dolph and AJ vs Cody and Kaitlyn for both Money in the Bank and Divas Championships.

Yay? Nay? Let's discuss!

Where do you come up with this shit?

The only way Cody gets a match @ 'Mania is Rhodes Scholars in tag team action.

I do agree that AJ vs Kaitlyn makes sense for 'Mania as well, so when DZ cashes in that means both AJ and DZ will have gold on Raw the next night.

I have to say, I like this angle. Yeah, it's not exactly a main event push for Cody, but he and Kaitlyn are playing their parts quite well and it's genuinely entertaining. It reminds me of the Team Hell No angle (although it won't reach the same heights); if it gets enough of a reaction from the crowd, it could lead to a Bryan-esque face turn for Cody and an interesting couple. More spotlight for the Divas champion, a few wins for Cody, and there's a ready made feud between Team Love Stache and Team Showoff (I wouldn't put it past WWE to come up with names equally as bad as those.)

The only roadblock I can see is that Team Rhodes Scholars still has legs and wouldn't work as a face team. If it were my call, I'd leave the whole Cody-Kaitlyn thing to brew until after Wrestlemania. Rhodes Scholars could have a high profile tag match at the Show of Shows and then feud over Kaitlyn. Perhaps Sandow wants her to be his apprentice or something, and Cody stands up for her. Solid midcard feud right there!

Yeah splitting them up wouldn't be too hard if they decided to go that route. It could be gradual if they wanna keep them together thru WM. Just have the flirting continue, and once they start getting closer, Sandow could start insulting Kaitlyn (she's pretty tomboyish/goofy so I'm sure he could come up with some big words to call her lol). Have Cody look uncomfortable about it for a while, then eventually he stands up for her and decks Sandow, they feud, Cody turns face.

I'm honestly still burnt out on WWE relationships after the AJ storyline.

I don't really see this going anywhere either, Kaytlin isn't going to be the tool that gets Cody over

I'm starting to think Cody Rhodes belongs in the Tag Team division, all of his tag team runs we're pretty well recieved with Rhodes Scholars and Legacy being the most over while Rhodes and Hardcore Holly worked well together.

I'm so excited to see where this goes. Kaitlyn could be the key on officially splitting up TRS (adding to the stereotype of women breaking up groups) and a Cody face turn, with him probably being Dolph's first feud for the WHC if he ever gets (Cody will most likely be unsuccessful, but a title shot push is nothing to thumb your nose at). Plus, I'm game for anything to give the Divas champ more time on TV, and a Kaitlyn/AJ feud would be epic. I think even you guys (a.k.a. typical, possibly sexist, wrestling fans) would at least have the teensiest amount of interest in it.

one diva is involved with superstars, so just no more?
The only interesting diva in the past five years, with main event worthy fueds. and not try to replicate it?
come on bro, hate on the divas for their lack of ring talent, not for making backstage segments interesting. cody has gone a bit stale. the lovestache is sssiiiccckkk! it gets chants everytime he hits the ring. he can already put on a great match. this could be exactly what pushes him over.

Kaitlyn doesn't need Cody, Cody doesn't need Kaitlyn. Its a stupid angle and it will fizzle out just like the Natalya farting gimmick and no one will remember it ever happened. Let the two of them do their own thing.

Nobody ever really needs anyone, it's just a matter of putting people together and seeing if it works, and from the looks of it, it very well may. Natalya's farting gimmick was stupid and senseless, but this one isn't. It has a point (Cody's face turn and maybe the official end of Team Rhodes Scholars) and can lead to a pretty cool feud -- Kaitlyn/Cody(/Sandow) vs AJ/Dolph(/Big E).

That's a fact. After all, no one can measure the chemistry two or more people will bring to the equation until they try it. Cody has worked well with other people before, partially because he doesn't have an overbearing personality that clashes with whomever he's with. Damien Sandow is a good example; when talking needed to be done, Sandow did most of it.

As for Kaitlyn, I'm sure every diva would love to be paired with a male performer, especially in these sparse times for the gals......A.J. being the best example in today's pro wrestling world of how women can be used to
best advantage, playing off the guy and making an impact of her own.

I think Cody would benefit from a face change. He's been a heel too long and doesn't really feature as one. Creative has finally stopped tossing new gimmicks at Cody to play with; perhaps the word has come down that he's not championship material, after all.

Of course, they could also turn Kaitlyn bad, as it's tough to tell from one week to the next whether a diva is face or heel....i.e., it really makes no difference.

The only possible problem with Cody Rhodes regards his parentage. He's Dusty's son. Will the genes finally tell?
