Now before I actually get into the thread let my just make perfectly clear that this thread is not about the television show under the same name. There is no correlation between the show and this thread, expect basic concept.
Have you ever been lost? What I mean by that is not lost in a city trying to find directions or flipping out on the highway because your GPS sucks. No I mean actually lost deep within the wilderness, stranded with no indication of civilization to be found anywhere? Trapped in the wilderness without the slightest know how to survive..or without a cell phone signal(OMG no Facebook!)? Would you have what it takes to survive? Do what is necessary to secure that you have a future?
Most people, myself included would have no idea what to do in a situation like that. I mean I barely know how to tell west from east, north and south, up and down...So you figured out where you are, okay but which direction do you take? How about food? Say you are stranded in the desert, where food and water is scarce. Would you eat a bug or two? Would you drink your own urine to rehydrate yourself. Hey, this is no time to be squeamish, your life is at stake! If you don't, the heat could really put you down for the count without any sort of hydrating liquid in your system.
Perhaps you are lost in the jungle. You might not think about it at first but the jungle is a very dangerous place. Food may look good but it could cost you your life if you don't know whats actually edible and what's best to avoid. Venomous snakes and insects swarm the vast jungle which would also be lethal if you aren't wary on where you place your limbs. The rain forests are home to even larger animals,of the man eating type that mat be hazardous to your life. Big cats such as jaguar's, pumas and tigers roam these jungles, would you be able to defend yourself from an attack? All sorts of troubles await you if you don't know what to do under these types of circumstances.
Maybe you prefer the frozen wastelands of the Arctics. A valley of snow and ice with freezing temperatures that could kill. Come ill prepared and you could be dead in a matter of days,if not hours. Would you panic? Would you lose your sanity? Maybe you are a bit more calm and placid about the whole situation enough for you to rationally assess your predicament. Allowing you pace out your survival and keep your wits straight enough to get out alive. Maybe you were doomed from the start, who's to really say?
We rely to much on society and technology for our daily bidding. Most of us have lost touch with our survival sense because in this modern day, they are not required. People take everyday life for granted. We are so tethered to our every day needs, our phones, vehicles, computers, television all of it that when you take it all away, most people wouldn't know what to do. Its not as if they teach this in school, in an everyday situation, who needs it? This is why we have shows like Man Vs Wild!
. In any case, these things happen, more often than none. So if it happened to you, would you know what to do in order to stay alive?
Would you have what it takes to survive in a situation like one of these? For days in not weeks on end.
What would be the best way to approach a situation like this, what would you do?
Not saying you have an option but if you did,out of the 3 locations I named(Rain forests/Jungle,Desert,Arctic. Which would be more ideal for you and be your best bet for survival? Which is more equipped for survival?
I present your topic, so sound off below.
