Live Discussion: Final Four

Okay, its over, thats four straight years I have picked the National Champ, on a good role, but I need to start getting the runner up right if I want to win some money anytime soon.

Memphis still blew it. That was by far some of the worst folding I've ever seen in a pressure situation.

It was pretty bad, I will give you that, but still clutch three, way to go Kansas, bye bye Self, have fun in Oklahoma St.

Yeah, Memphis completely fell apart last night, although it should not have been unexpected. Free throws don't win every game, they just win the close ones.

And, Bill Self is not going anywhere. You think that Self will leave a 5 Star caliber program, who just won the National Title, for a podunk 3 Star level program? Not a chance.

Kansas will give Self a huge raise, and he'll stay.

It's not like Roy Williams leaving Kansas, because Self is not being offered one of the three most prestigious jobs in basketball. Self is already at the 5th prestigious job in basketball, he isn't going to degrade himself to the 55th.

Meh, I wish we had a good basketball program. God we suck.

Oh well. BCS, here we come :D
:lmao:

Care to make a wager on the Mizzou game again? ;)

I dont see Self leaving because he thinks Oklahoma St. is a better job, I see him leaving because it is his Alma-mater and because he is going to receive a huge pay raise. Although Oklahoma St. may not be at the level of Kansas, which I never said it was, they are willing to offer Self alot more than Kansas. Kansas will offer Self a raise, but not what Oklahoma St. is willing to pay him, a six million dollar signing bonus, plus 3.5 million a year, Self would be stupid to pass that up.

What about Bill Self's past would make you think he'd EVER go to a worse job? Every job he's ever had, he's left in under five years, so he could go on to the next bigger job. Oral Roberts, Tulsa, Illinois and now Kansas...every job is a step up in prestige and program power.

Why would he leave Kansas? All he's going to do is get Kansas to pay a few more million dollars, and he's going to stay.

I will just be interested to see how much Kansas offers him, whether you believe it or not, Kansas has never really paid a coach that much money, I mean a six million dollar signing bonus, Kansas will have to pay him at least 3.5 million dollars a year for him to stay, maybe more to offset the signing bonus.

And you have to remember that Oklahoma St. is his alma-mater, that is a big deal. The only reason Roy Williams went to UNC was because that was his alma-mater, he loved Kansas. I am guessing you haven't gone to college yet, but the college you go too is your second home, its usually a special place because that is were your real life starts, life were you make your own decisions. That is why most coaches dream of coaching at there alma-maters. If Oklahoma St. was just a random school that wanted self, he wouldn't leave Kansas, but its not, its his alma-mater and I guarntee you he will think long and hard about it. Will he go, its a toss up, but Williams said he wasn't leaving Kansas afte Kansas lost the National Title game to Syracuse, but he left the door open in his coments, just like Self. So it is a distinct possibility, if you forced me to say yes or no, I would guess that he goes to Oklahoma St.

Money is not near as big of an issue as job security.

I mean, you can get paid 6 million dollars and fired in four years, or get paid 3 million dollars and stay until you retire. Kansas offers a lot more security, because the program is much more prestigious, and he's already developed his own brand of winning attitude there.

Whereas if he goes to Oklahoma St, he has to start all over again.

Not as much as you might think.

The only reason Roy Williams went to UNC was because that was his alma-mater, he loved Kansas.
Well, that and because it's a much more prestigious school and had National Championship caliber talent.

I am guessing you haven't gone to college yet
I have already graduated Summa Cum Laude from my University. Thanks for playing.

And I say he won't.

Actually for most coahces it does play a big role, Williams did not leave Kansas because UNC had more talent or because it was more prestigious. Hello, he had just gone to a National Title Game with Kansas. He went there because it was his Alma Mater, plain and simple, he loved Kansas, its just he loved UNC a little more.

I have already graduated Summa Cum Laude from my University. Thanks for playing.

And I say he won't

Congratulations...........You say he wont, I say he probably will if Kansas doesn't offer him the same money, which I am not completely positive they will. Its not like us disagreeing on college basketball surprises me anymore.

Not as much as job security and providing for their family does.

And, I am a coach.

Why do you think he turned UNC down the first time?

You say he wont, I say he probably will if Kansas doesn't offer him the same money, which I am not completely positive they will. Its not like us disagreeing on college basketball surprises me anymore.
Self has already said he wants to stay at Kansas, and as long as they can provide him job security, then he's staying.

Providing for a family, wait doens't that go against your point, Oklahoma St. provides for his family better, they are willing to give him more money!!!!

I am not saying he is gone, out the door, I am saying that Kansas has to offer him the same money that Oklahoma St. is, its that simple. They have to show him they want him as bad as his alma-mater, and he would probably stay, but if they dont, he will go.

No, you have to read the entire point in context.

For example, here's what I said earlier...

Me said:

See, you just have to read and remember what I write.

I'm guessing you didn't graduate Summa Cum Laude.

Already addressed.

What the hell does Summa Cum Laude mean? I am currently going to college, and have never heard of that in my life.

I dont see why you think Self would get fired. He would be there for a while, as long as his contract at least. And who's to say that he doesn't suck at Kansas for the next 10 years and get fired?

Have you ever heard of Magna Cum Laude?

I dont see why you think Self would get fired. He would be there for a while, as long as his contract at least. And who's to say that he doesn't suck at Kansas for the next 10 years and get fired?
And, if his contract is four years, then he'd be out in four years.

Where as if he makes 3 or 3.5 million dollars for 10 years at Kansas, he's getting ready to retire and has made $30 million dollars.

Not to mention that OSU isn't very good and Kansas is a recruiting goldmine.

No I haven't heard of any of those, please explain....
I thought you were in college.

You have Cum Laude, which requires little more than a pulse to achieve, Magna Cum Laude which is an award for mediocrity, and Summa Cum Laude which means you pretty much kicked ass at college.

I graduated with a 3.97 GPA, and only missed a straight 4.0 because of one asshole professor who thought a basic social studies class was top level social studies academics at Rutgers. He was fat too.

Seriously, there were 40 kids in the class, and only one person got an A, and two people got a B. I was one of the two that got a B. And I would have had an A if he had used the same grading scale all the way through the class.
