Kurt Angle next TV champ?

Pre-Show Stalwart
Ok so if I didnt miss anything, AJ Styles renamed the GLobal Title the TV title and said that he is going to defend the title every time on TV right? Immediately after that, Kurt Angle came out and said that AJ is next on his list to get to the top of the rankings. So is AJ defending his TV title against Angle? or is he facing someone else for it in the same night? Either he is doing that, or Angle will face him for that title and win, then he will have to defend the TV title every show while trying to climb the rankings. If Angle looses then he is done with TNA or he will have the TV title and the world title at the same time if he beats everyone? Did TNA think this through? or did I miss something where AJ will not be defending the title on that day? Will there be yet another hole in a story line that doesnt make sense or will they follow through? What is going on?

As shitty is it sounds... I'm pretty sure AJ will defend the title, but he will probably lose due to a DQ... Kaz or Flair will probably get caught trying to help AJ win and Angle will get the DQ win...

I believe they will face each other at the Aug 12th PPV-like Impact so it would kind of suck to see a DQ finish, but Angle doesn't need the title at all and I think AJ is the best person to add some omportance to the TV title...

why does every body have to make something out of nothing, before the outcome even happens. And I dont remeber him saying he would defend it every week.I think what he was reffering to was defending it on usa television because (correct me if im wrong)but i remember reading on wiki that the global title could only be defended outside of the united states.but then again he won it on impact so who knows.but i dont think angle will win it they will find a way for aj to lose and still retain his title. i.e. countout or DQ

If you look at the card for the August 12 Impact on the TNA site, it only says AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle, with no mention of the TV title. Maybe it is a non-title match? Either way, I don't see Angle wining the belt. Probably some sort of DQ, if the title is on the line. But again, I don't think it is.

AJ never did say that he would defend it every week..he said it would be on TV EVERY WEEK meaning that the title will be seen every week and every ppv(not necessarily defended) that TNA puts on. unlike how the global title was only seen on tv ever couple weeks if it was lucky

Well while the August 12th Impact is technically a TV show it is more like a PPV and AJ said he wouldnt defend it on PPV so the title probably wont be up for grabs. If it is though it will probably be a DQ ending with one of furtune interfering, Kurt wins the match and AJ keeps the championship.

in regards to kurt angle facing aj styles in a rankings match and whether or not it will be for the tv title....tna will cross that bridge when they book the match.

to pgera: the only time the tna legends/global/tv title was never booked to be defended on us soil was when eric young held the title when he was a part of the stable world elite.

Isn't it going to be a ppv match??I have a feeling Angle will ask AJ not to put it on the line for their match, just the fact that he is soo focused on the World title...should make it an exception!! just what I think!

I doubt that Styles will defend the television title. The whole point of Kurt Angle going through all the various top 10 contenders is for for him to at least wind up #1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Winning the tv title along the way potentially messes up that scenario. After all, if Angle wins the World Championship, which I think is all but guaranteed at this point, he'd just wind up vacating the tv title. Having Styles drop the title so soon and then, with Angle most likely winning the world title eventually, getting tossed aside blows a big hole in whatever tiny sliver of credibility the tv title has.

I'm just kinda disappointed as we already know how the match is going to end. Styles isn't going to win because, per Angle's stipulation, Angle will "retire" if he loses. Best thing all around for TNA to do is just have the match be non-title, have Styles job to Angle and let them both move on.

I see a few ideas to make this work. Either they will put the title on the line and Kaz or Flair will cause a DQ win for Angle thus letting him continue to climb the rankings and continue his career and allowing AJ to keep the belt and continue to actually put use behind the title as opposed to the nothing toy it was for the last year.

Another possible option would be for Angle to ask AJ to not put the title on the line since what he is doing is worth more to him than the TV title thus allowing AJ to play up the cocky character and say that Angle is scared to take on the TV champ for the belt cause he know he won't win.

If they end the Angle-Styles match on a DQ they are idiots. It really would not fit with Angle's current character to take a DQ win anyway. I was commenting in another thread how they are in a sketchy position with the title and this match. They will probably just have Angle "focus" on the other belt and let him and AJ make it work both in the ring and on the mic. They could put the belt over if AJ won by cheating but I think they have invested too much in this angle vs the top 10 storyline to put it on hold for a fortune feud. It sucks that AJ has to lose right after doing a lot for the new TV title situation but since it is Angle and the match should be phenomenal then it will be ok most likely.
