Kofi Kingston

Yeah i liked kofi's debut for what it was he looks kinda like a bigger black version of carlito which s not necessarily a bad thing but i am interested to see more of him just one question why dose he do that weird clap thing seriously

its called the thunder clap, its been big in jamaican dance clubs for the past few years, he did it a little off rythym, but even little jon & usher were doin it in the "yeah" video

I saw him wrestle Kevin Thorn at a house show and Kofi looked good. Thorn didn't seem to bring much to the match but Kingston showed lots of athleticism and got over very good with the crowd even though I don't think anyone had really heard of him. It was probably close to a 15 minute match and Kingston got kind of repetitive, but that may be because Thorn wasn't really anything more than a tacking dummy that sometimes threw punches in the match.

Man... this guy is good. His moves are so innovative and fresh. His match with David Owens could have been better, but I just watched his match with Rob Echo and Kofi really performed. He gets the crowd going without even trying. He has a LOT of potential. The only thing is, his finisher sucks ass. He needs a big impact finisher that can really take people out. If he gets a good finisher and works on his mic skills a little bit, Kofi will be going for the ECW and US championships in no time.

I tuned into ECW the other night and man I was impressed with this guy. Hes bouncy, energetic and crowd seem to really like him already. He has a cool in ring style I dont know what his promos are like because ive never seen one but im sure hes alright. And hes jamacian and I love Jamacian people! Also I can so see him pairing with Ron Killings when he comes to WWE that would be an awesome team. Then being a contender for the tag titles.

I must admit, he is one of two reasons I have recently tuned into ECW, I have seen him in some pre-ECW matches in DSW, and I believe he has a inventive wrestling ability, and find him interesting to watch.

I feel putting him on ECW has both positive and negative aspects. Currently ECW has a few talented wrestlers who could work very well with Kingston's style, and putting him here will allow his popularity to grow. However I doubt his stay at ECW will be very long. His popularity is quite high, and was even at his debut, which was a good start for him.

I have read that some people think he is a 'Booker T' rip off, but to be honest besides a physical stature resembling that of Booker T, and the use of his long legs, I personally don't see many more traits of Booker T in Kofi Kingston.

I feel there are a few 'fall downs' with Kofi, His character, his constant positivity could hold him back for character development, and as yet we have not seen his full wrestling ability, but the same move set in three matches, I feel he could fall into the trap where he uses the same crowd pleasing moves, instead of using his full ability.

He's probably one of the more refreshing debuts in a long time.

He's a fresh face and, for once, someone debuted as a babyface. His offense is pretty fun and flashy and his theme music is FUCKING AWESOME.

What they need to do after another week or two of showcasing his shit (although I wish they'd get a smaller guy who can work an exciting match with him and take his moves) and then they need to pair him off against some heel in a feud.

What I'd really like to see is them debut Cabana in another couple of eps and have them turn into some sort of fun-loving tag team. Then put them into a feud with Miz and Morrison.

Well I think that After Wrestlemania when the Draft Comes Kofi Might most likely be headed to Raw to compete for the Intercontinental Championship
Because look at him doesnt Kofi Kingston as Intercontinental Champion Sounds right also he might turn heel then or maybe Hardy might turn heel for the first time in YEARS

I think Kofi is fine where he is, the reason he is in ECW is to show variation of talent, Kingston needs to just keep moving, keep working his matches and keep plugging the wins, IMO he is filling the spot where RVD left off, so hopefully Kofi is gonna be huge with a slow steady push which he has been recieving

Kofi has been amazing to say the least. Ive never seen anyone leap to the top turnbuckle on top of someone. Shelton leaps to the top turnbuckle, but no one is there.

His boop boop thing is hilarious, though the only thing for me is maybe he needs a new finisher. The Jamacin Buzzsaw isn't buyable anough as a finisher in my opinion.

I think a great first real fued for him would be against KWIK Ron Killings when he debuts. That would be amazing. They'd both be flying around the ring doing all the crazy crap they do. Or maybe the two of them can be a tag team, since WWE's tag division is so weak at the moment.

I do agree with you that Kofi is a refreshing young talent that has all the tools to be good, I disagree with teaming him with Colt.

I WOULD HATE THEM to stop the singles push Kofi is getting and substitute that with a tag push. What Ecw needs to do is bring the tv title back so that the young guys like Kingston and possibly Burke can have a lengthly meaningfull fued with the belt at stake. I think a Burke-Kofi program has potential and it pushes both guys as PPV level guys in the eyes of the casual fan.

HMMM i have actually never seen this dude in action since i dont watch the "new" ECW because its just not the same product, i mean they fired all the originals. What was that about?!?!
Also when has Jeff Hardy ever been heel? thats directed to Prince Kong2

Although your question was not addressed to me, I believe they were heels during the New Brood stable. However I may be wrong.

Edit: I’d have to agree with an earlier mention of Kingston facing an opponent who isn’t a simple jobber. His offense looks decent (despite some aspects) but I rather a match of substance than a “squash.”

I am interested in seeing his mic skills as well.

I personally think Kofi is not bad at all. He's got some great in ring ability but I think they need to stick him in his first fued by now. I personally think they should start him off with a fued with the ultimate ecw jobber, Mike Knox. I absolutely hate Knox, and I think they can really push Kofi as a face against a hated jobber. Plus, Knox is a big guy and they can create a fued all while keeping Kofi's undefeated streak.

Week 1: Kofi beats Knox
Week 2: Kofi wins again, Knox frustrated attacks Kofi
Week 3: Kofi wins again after Knox disqualifies himself
Week 4: Kofi wins fairly, all put ending the fued

I think these 3-4 week fueds are great. I remember a Richards/Thorn fued a few months after Wrestlemania and I remember really enjoying the matches. I think they can do something similar with Kofi for the next few months in the low/mid tier ECW rankings. A fued with Knox and then maybe with Thorn. Mix in some tag matches and after a couple months, then finally give him a loss to the likes of Burke, creating a lengthy fued.

I agree with this wholeheartly. I think their styles would mesh well and the charisma level would be through the roof. I am a huge Kingston fan (SOS is a awesome theme, someone wrote that) and I think his gimmick is nice. As long as he doesn't get in the doghouse like Carlito he should be a future ECW champion.

I'm hoping that with the draft, Kofi gets sent to Raw or Smackdown to start building him towards the midcard title. Basically, that's because I'm of the methodology that people should still use the old hierarchy to climb (win a tag title, win a midcard title, win the title above that - ECW title - and then get the top title) so I wouldn't want to see his first belt be something so high when there are others that could use the opportunity first, like Shelton and Carlito.

I am a HUGE, mark of Kofi Kingston for some reason. I love his style, I love his charisma. Kofi Kingston is fantastic in the ring, and has alot of charisma in the ring as well. He, although he doesn't get mic time, his promos are really damn good. I can't wait to see Kofi get higher in the business. Hopefully also, he will be moved to Raw or SD!, where he can get some real air time in the business. I am such a fan of this guy, I hope dearly his talent doesn't get wasted.

Kofi is a very likeable wrestler because he's always in a great mood! His in-ring style is refreshingly different as well and it appears he's not just another bland newcomer (like Cody Rhodes was/is).

I hope they keep his undefeated streak up and move him to a better brand.

I've only seen a couple of matches of him , but he looks really good. I agree about his finisher - its pretty bad lets be honest. Give him something with a little more impact. Apart from that its all good. I'd keep him on ECW for now , there's enough to keep him interested - Shelton and Burke would be excellant complements for him.

Same, this guy won me over since day one. Kingston brings some unique energy to the ring, I can't explain it but it's just awesome.

And he is already pretty over in his short couple of months in the business.

Can't wait till he get's into a feud.

Love his character, refreshing debut really. Cody Rhodes could learn something from this guy.

WWE.com has him wanting to win the King of the Ring on the homepage. Interesting stuff. If he enters I'd expect him to get quite far , and then get done in the final by someone pretty big. Give him a push without him winning the tournement , draft him to Smackdown! and give him a shot at the US Title.

And by the way , for those who don't know , this guy is Ghanaian - not Jamaican. Makes no difference to the character.

I like Kofi Kingston 2...his different style brings somethin new 2 wwe n he i gonna b great in the wwe in the future...but wuts up wit all tha hate on Cody Rhodes...he might not talk that much but he is good in the ring as well...he is gonna be great in the future 2...he brings that new skool/old skool to the ring

I beg to differ! When you're of Jamaican heritage like myself, it's a bitter pill to swallow when "your guy" isn't actually Jamaican! Funny I didn't notice that sooner, his accent is wack and he didn't understand a word my dad said to him when we saw him at the Fan Axxess. My dad was right all along haha.

Kofi's still awesome of course...

I suspected this because I'm of Ghanaian heritage. I was like, "I know a few Jamaicans, and I don't think Kofi was a common name in that country." The guy is a great in-ring worker regardless of his gimmick. If utilized properly he can go a long way in WWE

I was very skeptical of him at first... the vignettes they had prior to his debut made him look like a Carlito ripoff.

So far, he's been gold, and one of the few reasons I go out of my way to at least leave ECW on Tuesday nights. I like how WWE hasn't given him a major push from the start. He's slowly built his way up, going from beating jobbers to Mike Knox to Domino, and now he's in his first actual feud with Shelton Benjamin. And as much as you guys don't like the Jamaican Buzzsaw, and I didn't like it either at first... they're also building up the finisher by making it come out of nowhere.

He's one of the most exciting wrestlers on the roster and has a good head on his shoulders (he graduated from Boston College with a degree in communications)... and I hope they start featuring him a little more on Raw and Smackdown. ECW gets a bum rap for being the C show. As much as it is, give the fans some incentive to tune in and see what could be a future major player get built up.

Kofi Kingston definitely has a bright future ahead of him. He's received quite a good push since he debuted. His current feud with Shelton Benjamin is the biggest reason why I still tune into ECW. He's athletic, charismatic, and good in the ring. I can see him feuding for the ECW Title when there is a heel Champion (even though I would really like to see Kane turn heel sometime soon). In the mean time, I see both Kofi and Shelton benefitting from their current feud. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Kofi.
