Kane returns as 1997 Kane for one final run, MAYBE including a title match against Rollins where he puts Rollins over. Thoughts?

No need for it. Kane putting someone over doesn't mean anything these days.

Vince, Steph, Linda, HHH, Michael Hayes and Pat Patterson all get kidnapped by ISIS. Who runs the WWE while their release is negotiated by Bad News Barrett?

I'm guessing we don't have a show for a good bit in that case.

Is there a way to restore the finality of finishers, or is it too late? I mean, if it takes 2 AAs to beat Wade Barrett that move has lost all credibility as a true finisher.

This is one of those things I go back and forth on, but at the end of the day, I don't think it's fair to compare the different eras. It's not like baseball or any other sport where you can directly compare things. Back in the day, you had to show up once a month and get people to come see you while doing the same show every night in different towns because no one knew any better. Now it's five hours a week every week all year. Bruno is fondly remembered because he was the big star back in his era. I don't think he'd be successful now, but someone Bryan's size wouldn't be allowed near a ring back then, and certainly nowhere near the top of the card if he got on the roster.

That being said, I get what you're saying on people voting for Bruno because of how revered he is. A lot of people, myself included, have done that over the years. There aren't a lot of us here that have even a working knowledge of what Bruno did in the ring, but we can easily see and study Bryan. With the Network, there's access to a lot more old stuff, but there's also access to a lot more stuff from Bryan's era.

Names like Bruno are always going to be remembered, but people like Bryan are going to overtake him in the minds of the fans because they can see him and he was more recent.

"It was brought up to my attention in several e-mails that I got but I never discussed it. ... Here's the thing: People ask me 'Steve, hey man, what do you think about that?' First of all, it's obviously reminiscent of the Stone Cold Stunner but here's my biggest beef with it: It's such a dynamic move and it requires such precision and timing, because his foot could slip on that rope, guys are wearing baby oil, they're sweating, anything could happen, so that move is very precise. But when you hit that move, why don't you establish it and get a couple of three counts out of it? So then when Rusev kicks out of it, or whoever kicks out of it, if they do, it means something. So they could have had another ace up his sleeve had he actually beaten people with it. ... My point is had they looked further down the road than the short term he would have had a real valid great badass finish than just a set up which now means nothing."

^^^ Stone Cold Steve Austin's thoughts when asked about John Cena and his Springboard Stunner.

Your thoughts?

I love the emails to Austin and now others around the IWC jumping on Cena for "gimmick infringement."

KB, this is you section so please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Austin develop his version of the move by sampling Whipwreck's Whippersnapper?

How long until Seth Rollins' Phoenix Splash becomes a worthless top rope move?

Can they still make that Cena Stunner mean something, or is it worthless now as Austin said?

Hopefully a long time.

Oh sure. Just have it get some pins.

Indeed. It means I have job security.

I believe Mikey did have it first, yes. If I remember right, Michael Hayes showed Austin the Stunner.

Just had to go searching for Stunner info. There are like fifteen versions. I learned something today.

Anyway, I found an interview where Austin acknowledges Whipwreck's version and another where he credits Hayes who then credits Johnny Ace. Sounds like one of those wrestling stories with multiple versions depending on who and time asked.

And yet at the same time isn't there a "now is wow" kind of mentality going on in the same threads? This is why a steer clear of these things: If I wasn't bi-polar going into the thread I most certainly would be coming out of it.

It's a big loss as you could easily swap him into the main event scene in a pinch. That's invaluable on the roster.

Actually I think it might benefit some people in NXT. They have some workhorses down there and could help fill in the void left in that area.

Indeed, lMO, besides Cena and Orton, Bryan is the only guy I saw as credible enough to be placed into the Main Event scene at anytime and not look out of place. It will be a huge loss in that sense no doubt, ntm, his overness meant WWE had a cheap way to get the crowd lively, even though he has been used as a Midcarder on most RAWs in recent times.

In hindsight, what would you say to the D-Bry fans who booed because their favourite wasn't placed into a match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania?

Actually, I noticed that his role in the Ladder match at Mania was rather minimal, which was surprising to an extent, but I've always suspected that they didn't want to push him too hard with the neck problems he obviously still had.

"GEE! Who would have guessed that someone who was out with a bad neck for the better part of a year and changed everything they had in the main event isn't being put back in the World Title picture after like a day back. Maybe WWE was worried that THIS IS WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN???"
