Alright, I did some digging and found that Hogan had his personal merchandise which consisted of items other than t shirts, and like youbsaid to Nu, WWF in the 80'a was more in the pop culture field, which I think gives Hogan a popularity advantage. Without any of that, or if Steve had the same attention, then how would you rank Austin?
Also, of course Steve's gimmick wouldn't have worked in the Golden age, but what if he was in the ruthless aggression era while in his prime, and again assuming the fan base and advantages/disadvantages were on an equal basis?
Now at the same time, no Hogan wouldn't have been anywhere near what he was in 2002. Rocky 3 was a huge deal and carried him to a lot of his success.
