KB Answers Wrestling Questions

Every wrestler that John has faced since last year, every one has been using the 'You can't wrestle, you just have the machine backing you' story.Isn't it overused? Also was it the right catalyst in the Bryan-Cena feud?

Nah. It's still awesome.

What did you think of the movie the wrestler?

Good. I could totally see that being Ric Flair in a few years or even today.

Thinking back to the Farooq/Undertaker Title match at the 97 King of the Ring, I can't for the life of me remember how Farooq got that title shot. Do you have any idea how that went down?

Back then a lot of people were just named #1 contenders. Yes, that's possible without a GM holding our hand through a show.

Is this PPV coming up the first since the reddit guys been known about in the media? Should we expect vince trying to do some switching around of the results mid PPV?

I'll save you some hassle here, KB.

Have you seen The Wrestler from the 70's with Verne Gagne?

If so is it any good?

I asked him this yesterday or the day before, the answer was a no!

But The Butcher has seen it. Theres a thread called "I like to hurt people" in wrestling spam (I think) where there is a tiny conversation going on about old wrestling films, I'm sure he'll answer any questions you have! Theres some details there already. :)

Would you say Wrestling involved more celebrities in the 80's than in the 90's? Also, I checked out some of the ratings from Saturday night main event and they were at 10 or 11, could that be because Sports entertainment was new at the time?

If those answers were a yes, could they be the reasons Hogan was a bigger draw than Steve Austin?

I'm definitely no KB, and I'm sure he has a better answer, but if those numbers are accurate, I'm sure they logically allude more to other major factors...

First the rating number itself was calculated a little differently and therefore looks slightly inflated compared to modern ratings. It is viewership you need to look at.

But second, and most importantly, the amount of channels/options has greatly increased. In the 80s it wasn't strange to have thirty or more shows pulling in 15+ Million viewers a week, in the current climate most weeks don't produce a single show with that level of viewership.

do you think NWO would have been as successful without Hall and Nash or do you feel they made it what it was? Like say it was Bret Hart and Bulldog instead?

Including House shows and Dark matches, how many times has Orton wrestled Cena?

Several dozens, probably over a hundred.

No. It had to be big names who were surprises. Also the ability to talk helped a lot.

You know I had my reservations about Brock/Punk, but see with Heyman and Punk, there are two people who know how to pan this out and they have brilliantly.

Using the camera and steel chair is magnificent over those forearm shots that Brock no-sells (which also kayfabely brilliant).

The build is very decent innit?

Also, would you be adverse to a Taker vs Bray match at Mania?

I've picked up from your posting that you're not the type to have a problem with Darren Young's recent admission. Clearly the WWE is not stupid enough to fire him for his recent coming out, or would they probably even care that much. However, do you see any pushes, depushes, storylines or anything coming from it?

I keep reading reports about the possibility of HHH turning heel in the VKM/HHH feud. So far this doesn't make any sense since it's clearly been the opposite. Do you see it going that way at any point? Shouldn't HHH win the feud since I'm sure even most casual fans know that HHH is going to take over at some point?

Maybe a minor one, but at the end of the day Young simply isn't that good. People have been calling for his release and the singles push of Titus for months now.

Hogan's push was a bigger deal overall, primarily because he was more marketable.

Yeah it probably will, even though HHH has reached legend status where he's going to get a pop due to how long he's been around.

Wouldn't you say Hogan's push being a bigger deal is primarily because it was a case of "being at the right place at the right time?" I mean what if Steve Austin or John Cena was about in the 80's or Hogan came in 2002?

Not entirely.

Hogan is an incredibly talented guy who bled charisma. Look at Lex Luger: same physique, same push, nowhere near the results.

Now at the same time, no Hogan wouldn't have been anywhere near what he was in 2002. Rocky 3 was a huge deal and carried him to a lot of his success.
