Not really. Rollins did it when he threatened to hurt Edge even after he got what he wanted. That's evil.

I agree, but look at the reaction it got: You had people on here complaining that they were making Rollins look like an evil chickenshit (ie a real heel) instead of a "cool badass" heel for them to cheer for.

They are quite a few 'cool' heels... but factor in that Rusev and Rollins are being cheered by people who I refer to as A**holes... and you can see it is quite difficult to retain a PG rating and make a character hated in today's environment...

That certainly doesn't help; too many of the IWC deliberately try to throw monkey wrenches into the works in an effort to make life miserable for the rest of humanity.

I know, but then he had an awesome performance at the Rumble, with the Phoenix Splash and all... and people are cheering him.

Rusev was being cheered last night on SmackDown! Let that sink in for a second...

Kayfabe isn't dead as yet, but WWE will have to find ways to combat the dirt sheets, etc. Because as of now, the guy being booed the loudest, is being booed because he is the internal company choice for the main character of the show... whilst the 'despicable' scumbag is getting cheered which is the total opposite reaction to what a traitor, scumbag, etc is supposed to be getting.

Yep.
It's almost to the point that after seeing how people were visibly and audibly cheering for Rusev last night, I started to think that once Reigns got reactions, whether positive or negative, they should just have him dominate in loads of feuds against all the top superstars...

It's good to remember that while the IWC is maybe 10% of the audience, they make 90% of the noise.....both on the internet and at the arena. But I seriously doubt they make up even 10% of the WWE's profit. So does the WWE really want to kowtow to the noisy 10% just because they want to hijack the TV shows? Or does doing so just encourage more of that?

Who's had a more interesting character story/development, Edge, Triple H, or Daniel Bryan? And how so?

HHH going from sophisticated to rebel to manchild to sophisticated again.

That match was going to be cheered no matter what they did.

People still getting over the Rumble ending I'd assume.

It's really not hard. For one thing, stop treating this as entertainment and treat it as more real.

Wade Keller was on Austin's podcast and brought it up. At house shows for years, Cena has asked if the fans have been entertained. It needs to be more "look at this. It's totally awesome and you get to enjoy it with us.

How much of a missed opportunity was Bad News Barrett coming out dressed as CM Punk in Chicago with the hoodie on only to take off and say IM AFRAID IVE GOT SOME BAD NEWS CHICAGO

I could go on for hours about why that's I enjoy a lot of the indies more than WWE. His podcast from yesterday with Court Bauer was also excellent if you haven't listened to it yet.

As much as Bryan's music hitting at #30 last year in the Rumble and then Barrett saying he has some bad news.

I've downloaded it but haven't listened to it yet.

How do you go about that? Go with the flow, or do you drop the guy you're pushing as the company choice and just cave into the vocal section of fans, effectively letting them take control of the product?

That's a touchy situation, and after apparently making the fans 'feel' or actually 'giving in' to the fans' reactions last year, the vocal ones then might think that is what to do every year and always rebel against the company choice...

So to answer you second question: Giving in once again this year, will make sure that it happens all the time... and we know how fickle the fanbase can be...

WWE's job is to pick a guy and push him and try to cater to those who fill the company's pockets. After all, Cena is always looked at as being polarizing anyways...

Treat it as something serious and stop treating it like an entertainment/variety show. As in drop the comedy and focus on what's going on in the ring, not power struggles and not talking about every possible thing you can think of other than wrestling. Make it about what happens in the ring, with everything else revolving aroudn that.

Why did WWE release commentators Matt Stryker and Josh Mathews but keep guys like Byron Saxton, Rich Brennan and Tom Phillips?

The latter three seem really boring without any character/personality (even more so than Mathews).
