Is there a WWE Champion who's reign was considered by most to be average or even poor but you found it to be better than that?

If so, what resonated with you about those runs that didn't with most others?

Shawn's first reign isn't too fondly remembered. I liked it as soon as he fought Diesel at In Your House 7 in one of my favorite matches ever.

I toss Superstar Graham's title reign into the mix: A placeholder reign that they managed to drag out for nearly a year. And even then it only happened because Vince Sr. didn't like doing face vs face title matches.

A placeholder because (from everything I've heard) the whole plan from the start was to transition the belt from Sammartino to Backlund but they didn't want Backlund taking the belt directly off Bruno.

Would you have liked to have seen Vampiro in WWE in the late 90s early 2000s? Who would you have put him in feuds with if he had joined WWE?

I always thought his persona was more suited to a WWF 'Attitude' than WCW

He'd probably have wound up as a bit player in the Ministry of Darkness.

Not so sure about that. From everything I've heard Bruno was supposed to keep the strap for a good while longer but he told Vince Sr. he didn't want to do it any more and it caused scramble. I don't think Vince Sr. was expecting Bruno to shut it down.

Bruno had suffered a broken neck the previous year and was starting to have issues physically. He basically decided he couldn't do it any more and pulled his own plug in '77.

Interestingly, Vince Sr. didn't like having heel champions (they don't sell t-shirts) and really only used them short-term to move the belt from one face to another.

Just double checked, you are correct. It's still the record at a bit over nine months. Just looking at the match record for that year it looks like the only reason he held it for that long was they had to scramble to build up Backlund's credibility to be a long-term champion: All Backlund's losses that year (with the exception of a controversial countout loss to Graham himself) were in Georgia and the AWA. He was undefeated in WWWF action that year with the exception of the one match against Graham.
