Nick Patrick at Starrcade 1997.

It was funny, Patrick was the ref for the '96 War Games and he said something like "let him go or I'll ring the bell and stop the match" and the commentators were like "uh.... what?"

'97 he was supposed to fast count but didn't actually, right?

Best of the "last resort" finishers? (Burning Hammer, Punt, Steiner Screwdriver, ...)

Should more people have them?

If you had to take one guy from Evolution and one from The Shield to have a long PPV match, who would you choose and why?

Sidenote: I watched Steen vs. Richards from Border Wars '12 last night. The last 5 minutes are pretty awesome but the large majority of it was comically stupid. It seemed like they just decided to see how many finishers from the 90s they can use in one match and totally no sell half of them. I'd love to see a review of it from you if you ever get the chance.

I'm reading a documentary on Ed Lewis and there are some interesting things being mentioned. The fact that promoters were willing to expose the business because they were bitches, and some of the angles were ridiculous. Lewis actually worked an angle in court that made the front page in the newspapers. And he was dirty and worked as a heel for later in his career.

One thing is for certain is that Jim Londos was the powerhouse draw of the 30's if Lewis was considered second. Did some research and Londos not only drew gates of 20,000+ regularly along with the gate record of 40,000, but apparently he drew close to 100,000 while in Greece. And at least 3 different sources have sited that.

Edge spearing Jeff Hardy - TLC 2
Bubba BLASTING I think Matt Hardy in the head with a ladder - TLC 2
Lita taking her top off - TLC 2

TLC 2
TLC 1
TLC 3

If Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair would have made the jump to the other promotion around say 87 or so and both promotions than had the top two guys going at that time do you believe the other could have survived?

If not which promotion do you think could have held out longer without their star?

Watched ROH's global wars and it got me thinking. If ROH had TNA's production value and tv slot where would you see them??

On SpikeTV every Thursday night at 9pm of course.

The non snarky answer: not very far. It's not a program that is going to appeal to the masses. They're good where they are: catering to the internet and smark audience and not trying to expand much further than that.

I think they could get a great international audience. Yeah, in the US this style won't get you to the top. But Canada, Europe, Japan may be untapped markets for them, still with a glass ceiling of course.

Which WWF Title?

Savage - WM VII

Ladder match vs. Shawn - House show

First title.

Where do you think Kanyon would have been if he had gone up through WWE rather than WCW? Was he naturally talented enough to make it far or did WCW just build him faintly decently?
