TNA spent all summer building up AJ and their next step after having him win the title is to take him off TV. I don't think that requires much more explanation.

It was stupid when WWE did it as well, but it's a different case there. WWE has more than enough people to plug in and fill Punk's place. TNA has a thin roster as it is and can't afford to just let one of their biggest stars leave like that.

Having a champion walk out to set up a unification match has almost never worked before and I really don't get the obsession with the idea.

Thats true, but TNA is so constrained for storylines right now, they're using their TV specials to end just one. Even if he was around, he would not be the focus every week and probably won't be once he gets back.

This is true and it's also very frustrating about TNA. They have Xplosion just sitting there and do NOTHING with it.

Not to mention Youtube. Their taping schedule and several storytelling elements are clearly adopted from AAA but they don't bother with using Youtube for full wrestling shows like AAA does. They have more than enough material to set up a supplemental show and upload it and then plug shamelessly during Impact. It can easily build support and eventually land a US TV deal like that.

Yep. If nothing else it takes some pressure off of Impact and lets the show breathe a bit. That's one of the biggest problems on Impact: everything has to move so fast to fit in Dixie's 19 appearances and all the ZANY Eric Young bits.
