Why were people so pissed with finger poke of doom baring in mind DX essentially did it in 97? Is it because of the butts in seats comment?

A few things.

1. The DX version was for the European Title, not the world title, so it wasn't so big of a deal.

2. Shawn was still world champion and was saying that was more important than the European Title which is true. Nash was saying that making Hogan happy was more important than being world champion.

3. It meant more Hogan, which was the last thing people wanted to see at that point.

4. Yeah the comment hurt things too.

5. Also the DX thing came off like a joke that everyone could laugh at rather than something that the NWO was doing to laugh at us if that makes sense.

I'm clueless with WCW stuff so it's good to see what was going on at the time.

Well it was even worse because of how stupid the angle that went with it was.

Nash beat Goldberg for the title about two weeks before the Fingerpoke. The rematch was to be held on Nitro and was hyped up for the first hour. Then eventually Goldberg was arrested on charges of "aggrivated stalking" (originally going to be rape but he refused to do it) by Elizabeth. They take him to the police station, with the detail of the police station is across the street from the arena.

Later on Liz starts making conflicting statements and Goldberg has an alibi and is cleared. This is with about 45 minutes left in the show, but the announcers immediately start speculating that he can't make it back in time. As in he can't make it across a street in nearly an hour.

The Hogan issue was that Hogan was world champion for about 15 months straight save for a five day reign by Lex Luger. Sting beat him at Starrcade in December of 97 but the title was held up and Sting didn't get it until February. Hogan got it back in April and held it until July when Goldberg won it. He held it about five and a half months before Hogan got it back in January. The fans were just flat out tired of Hogan dominating the show when he never even beat Sting or Goldberg to get it back. it was just stupid and served no one but Hogan.

Hey KB, let's talk James Storm. When he got bumped down the card, a lot of us were going "Yeah, it's just a rotational thing...", but I'm coming around on this. Is it just impatience on the fans' part, or what's going on with the James Storm situation?

Will Triple H, Mark Henry, Rey Mysterio, RVD and The Rock wear WWE gold again?

No

Partially injuries, but more than that was him losing every big match he was in for a good while. The loss at Lockdown killed him because it was the perfect situation and he blew it. That and the BFG Series last year made him look like a choker and that's the last thing you can be as a main eventer.

I have a slew of crowd based questions.

Most popular chant ever?
Your favorite chant ever?
Perfect amount of syllables for a crowd chant?
If you could pick one crowd to be at every wrestling show ever, which would you pick?

The Whole F'ing Shootin' Match

Why is everything WCW does a shoot? I'll tell you why.

They think that appealing to the smart marks on the internet makes them cool. The bad news is twofold: 1) most of the better informed smarks already know that the entire business is a work, and are not fooled; 2) the "unsmart" marks, the ones that go to house shows, buy the majority of the gimmicks, and get the PPV, or as you might say, the PAYING CUSTOMERS, are completely lost. The average fan just doesn't get the whole "shoot" concept. I swear they don't.

Posted by wrestlecrap in 2000. You think this could be applied to TNA today? Or do you think the shoot thing is something people understand more?

Nah. The "shoots" done today are FAR more intelligent than the ones WCW was doing. They'd have people walk out of matches and Schiavone would say the people left would have to, and I quote, improvise another finish. Worked shoots can be entertaining, but trying to make them look real just looks dumb no matter when it happens.

What's your favourite shoot and what's your favourite 'shoot'? Do you actually think we get genuine shoots? I can only really think of screwjob, Hardy/Edge and Purder/Angle in my watching life time.

Well a few others are the Original Screwjob, where the Fabulous Moolah wore a mask as the Spider Lady and beat Wendi Richter for the Women's Title back in 1985. There's a semi-famous one from the early 1980s in Florida where Bruiser Brody stops cooperating in a cage match with Luger so Luger just bails on the match. There's also a fun one with Regal against Goldberg from Nitro where Regal tortured Goldberg for a bit and got fired as a result. Regal claims that it was just him trying to have a more entertaining match instead of ruin Goldberg. Also I'd bet that a lot of the Benoit vs. Sullivan matches were very similar to Edge vs. Hardy. If you've never seen it, check out their match from the 1996 Great American Bash. It's a great fight.

As for my favorites, the Regal match is awfully fun just to see the announcers try to spin it. As for a "shoot", probably Punk's speech.

Out of these guys to upend Flair during his peak in the 80's, who do you choose and how do you play it out?

Jimmy Garvin
Ricky Morton
Captain Redneck Dick Murdoch
Nikita Koloff
Sam Houston
