That they've wasted yet ANOTHER hot prospect because a match is set in stone seven months in advance.

We know that it's either gonna be Rock/Cena or Rock/Punk at the Rumble. We know that it's probably gonna be awesome. This does not change the fact that until it happens, just about anything and everything that happens with the WWE Championship is completely pointless and that after HiaC Ryback should have either been taken far away from the Title Picture or they should have stuck with him and Punk being on the Survivor Series tag matches so Ryback could get revenge on Punk without the risk of him getting the championship.
You agree?
How do you think ryback's been holding up lumped in with the big boys in the ME??
They've treated him like crap and he's wasted now.
They've treated him like crap and he's wasted now.
Who was the worst champion in the WWE's "two-title" era? (September 2, 2002 forward, either belt.) Similarly, who was the best non-Cena champion of this era?
Cena excluded in a similar fashion to the 'best guitarist after Jimi' question.
KB, are you complaining about how Ryback's being used without actually seeing it first hand?
How's Becca?
How is he wasted?? The people still want to see him (myself included) and he's holding hs own in the matches apart from gettin taken out by a bunch of guys?
I dont see the momentum loss, because it seems to me people want to see him kick punks ass all the more now? Isnt that what were aiming for here??
KB I have a two part question about Flair. Back during JCP/WCW out of all the guys in the 80's Flair put over other than T.A. who would of made most sense to carry the belt other than dropping the belt back to Flair like Steamboat did. When Flair left would WCW been better off if Harley aligned himself with Windham instead of Luger. To me that would of made sense seeing Windham was a rival to Flair and arguably the best wrestler for The Horsemen than Flair and AA. I would think it would of come full circle especially with Flair/Race rivalry
Ignoring how idiotic it was scheduling The Rock for the title shot way ahead of time, what else could they have done? If Ryback wins the title, there's no way he faces Rock at the Rumble so he ends up having a 1 or 2 month title reign. Doesn't having him lose by nefarious means twice hurt him much less than having a very short title reign and losing the belt cleanly, as he would have to?
With all of CM Punk's clamoring about changing the WWE Title, because he hasn't accomplished that yet, what are the odds that The Rock (after likely winning at RR) does it?
klunderbunker said:Because he's not world champion. The problem now is that Ryback's momentum is gone. He went from the main event of a PPV to fighting a referee. But hey, Punk gets to hold the title an extra month before he faces Rock right?
Here's the thing: why couldn't you have him face Rock at the Rumble? Think about that for a minute: why couldn't you have Ryback vs. the Rock for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble?
Was he ever at a point when he could have legitimately faced the rock BEFORE he got blasted up there?? He's certainly alot closer now. Recent momentum lost is much lower than what he's gained.
He went from main event to fighting a referee, to main even again. And now he's wrapped up in something thats getting alot of attention, not squashing local jobbers, its still a step up from where he was. Wasted would have been staying where he was and growing stale.
The guy opened raw, got mic time and he's still on punks tail. He still in the main event window, and being advertised on posters for the TLC main event. I wont be as bold to say that when the rock gets back he wont shy away from the scene, but as of right now he's still there. The fans still want him there. And with Punk still cowering from facing him, he still has the audiences belief that he could crush punk in a fair fight. I dont see the lost momentum, or that he's wasted.
To clarify though, my original question was more to do with his role in the matches themselves, if you think he's maintained a calibre needed for a main event match with Punk and Cena?
1. Don't go off PPV posters. You're wasting your time.
2. If Ryback wins the WWE Title before May, I'll be STUNNED.
I conceeded that once the rock gets here everyone will be taking a step down.
3. Heaven forbid WWE let anyone else crack the main event scene, which is what ticks me off at the moment.
4. Ryback's best bet is fighting Big Show for the Smackdown Title.
There can only be one main event match.
Cena wont even be in the main event if its rock v punk. They let Ryback in. Cracked or no he was there for two months straight. Possibly three on the way. A big step up. And despite losing, still has the fans backing him. Opening and closing raw is a big deal. And I still see him having a relevant match on the RR card with the NXT guys.
Winning a world title is hardly a wasted effort??
But has been in it for two months solid, and without the rocks glorious return (which despite being ultimately good for business, is the actual problem at hand) was in no way out of a position to continue being there if there was an open slot. And Ryback won't be in it, because he hasn't really accomplished anything.
Having a match against three new guys from the minor league show doesn't make it a relevant match, especially with little reason to think Ryback won't squash them.
It means more than if you dont win it.I'd be shocked if he won, and winning the Smackdown Title doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.
Don't get me wrong: I liked Ryback a lot, but as soon as he lost to Punk and then lost again, the main part of the spark was gone. That's WWE anymore: make sure that no one really gets hot because....screw being sarcastic on this actually. They don't let anyone get hot anymore because they don't know how to handle someone they didn't plan on getting hot. Look at what they did with Ryder at the beginning of the year. All of a sudden they have this guy who is INSANELY popular on the same social media that they plug to no end, and they cut his legs off so they can feed him to Kane for some filler feud with Cena that no one even remembers because Kane turned face again for the 1000th time like two months later. Watch TLC and witness the place ERUPT when Ryder wins the title. That's what they could ahve done with Ryback, but because the WWE is freaking stupid anymore, we get to see Punk talk about how many days he's been champion because we're supposed to be impressed. But hey, he gets to get crushed by Rock in January, because that's the solution to all of their problems: not better writing, not logic storylines, not pushing new guys, but having a guy who wrestles literally a match at year at this point being the world champion. And they have the nerve to wonder why the viewers keep leaving.
You would think that, with the money they pay creative, at least one of them would bring something like this up.
Do you think us as internet wrestling fans have too much of a cynical view on things and just need to start emphasizing and enjoying the good parts of the respective companies?
What did the PS in Michael PS Hayes stand for?
How the hell did Mideon ever have a contract with the WWE...he was one of the worst of all time.
