Nitro was worse, ive been watching the PPVs. Haloween Havoc 96, Spring Stampede 97, Uncensored 97, and Slamboree 97 are all absolutely rockin and rollin.

However, annoyingly, still.

Rey *nwo* Mysterio *hey you know, the NWO* kicks out *Hollywood Hogan* from *NWO!!* Ultimo *remember that thing happening with the NWO?* Dragon's *Damn that NWO and Hollywoood Hogan* Triple Buster powerbomb off the top rope *Nwo?*

Staggering. Fucking fantabulous wrestling though.

Worse still, I recall even watching it as a child I thought to myself "this is fucking stupid, why dont they talk about the fucking match!!"

Even a child knew it was insanely dumb. How could grown adults who get paid for this stuff not know?

Yeah it really was good. The Nitros are horrible though. People remember the drama and stuff but they don't remember stuff like Jimmy Graffiti and Glacier and Jim Powers regularly being on TV and Jeff Jarrett vs. Mongo going on FOREVER.

It's possible but I think we'd be ok without one as well. I'd expect Shawn to be announced as guest referee for the match which would make Foley kind of worthless in the feud.

With the advancement in technology (big-ass screens, easier telecommunications, etc), could WWE hold an event in 2 locations, much like WrestleMania 2 was in 3 locations? Should they try it?

Given how much of a disaster 2 was, I'd think no. It didn't work when Crockett did it and they showed the other parts on movie screens.

Are the WWE missing out on a huge paycheck by not holding a smaller PPV (Unforgiven, Over the Limit, Extreme RUles) in a foreign country, like Mexico, India or hell, even Britain where there's still a huge wrestling fan base which would probably sell-out a stadium?

The reason I was thinking is because now you have the big-ass screen on the entrance, and they can very easily drop down huge screens from the rafters. Not to mention cellphone videoconferencing, etc. The whole process of going from live to televised would take like 10 seconds, which would make me think you can go back and forth much easier then back in the mid-80's. And the roster could be split rather easily, since they are already somewhat split.

WrestleMania XXX at Staples Center in LA and Madison Square Garden would be pretty awesome, I would think.

Well they used to do PPVs like Insurrextion and Rebellion in England, although they were just glorified house shows with big sets. From what I understand, Vince doesn't want to do them overseas because of the time issues and worries of spoilers getting out or something. As for Mexico, I'm not sure. They had one in Puerto Rico once and I don't remember hearing about it going badly.

I think the problem with that is you would have fans getting annoyed at only seeing half of the show live, which is a legit complaint given how much the tickets probably are.

It just makes a lot of business sense to me. I'm sure most cities would be more than willing to help them out with transport, picking the arena, etc... It would bring a lot of revenue to the cities afterall. Plus, it's only a random PPV. One that'd sell out a 17,000 seater in the US but do triple that elsewhere. With regards to spoilers, air it live. If they were to do a PPV in Mexico they'd have no problemas. The mind wonders.

I'm not quite sure. It might have to do with the travel/visas/taxes. The British Summerslam went well I thought. I'm honestly not sure why they've only done one in a country outside of North America.

Edit: I'd assume it has to do with getting the set and equipment everywhere. The PPV sets are big and elaborate. It's not like the Octagon where you can just put up acage and that's about all you need.

I often listen to Ask the Ref podcast where former WWE ref Jimmy Kordaras answers questions from fans and he said that the WWE has a few HUGE warehouses that are filled with rings, equipment, memorbilia from past shows etc. around the UK.

I would think the biggest issue is timing.

WWE PPVs start at 8PM Eastern. England is 5 hours later, which would mean that in order for a WWE PPV to start on normal time, the show would have to start at 1 AM local time. That wouldn't happen.

Doing the show at 8PM local time would mean the show would air at 3PM Eastern, or they would tape the show and air it on delay. the show airing early would likely throw off the PPV buys because of the odd timing, and I think we all know the problem with taping a show.

Back in 1991, that wasn't a problem, as Spoilers weren't a huge deal.

Why they don't have a museum somewhere is beyond me. That could work.

Actually it was 1992. That's your KB is a Wrestling Nerd moment of the day.

Also Summerslam 92 was shown two days after it was filmed so it was a huge jump for them.

Yeah it would be a problem timing wise as it would hurt the buys. Granted that never stops them from putting the results on .com 10 seconds after the show goes off the air. I've always thought that's hurt the buyrates a lot also. If a show is only middle of the road levels of interesting, why buy the show when you can see results by 11 that night for free with full stories and details? I get that other sites do it, but how many fans are going to go to them?

Sadly I knew it was 92. Don't know why I said 91. 91 had the Bret/Hennig match, which was in an arena, not a stadium.

damn, that I didn't know. 0 chance in hell that'll ever happen for a PPV.

You know, the more I think of it, the more I think they can get away with it, if they start the PPV at 8PM local time in England. 3PM isn't that bad for a PPV. The show is over by 6PM. They just couldn't do that at all between September and February, cause they wouldn't want to compete with the NFL.

In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing them go to London for 2012 SummerSlam (as long as the Olympics are done by then). What better way to celebrate the "20th anniversary" of the London Summerslam, then by having the Summerslam in London?

It wouldn't be without precedent. Wrestlemania I was at 1pm. Into the mid 90s stuff was on at 4 or in the afternoon. It was until the Attitude Era that 8pm became the standard time.
