Kane and Goldust - new veteran tag team?

Championship Contender
Both of these guys are coming close to the end of their careers and it seems like all of the titles are being somewhat rebranded. Tag teams are coming back, as we see the reformation of PTP, call ups with the Ascension and Lucha Dragons, New Day turning heel soon, etc. Kane and Goldust still have some left in the gas tank. Why not bring back the Big Red Machine and the Bizarre One as the older, veteran tag team, have them win the belts and have the young, up and comers challenge them? It would be a last hurrah for the two guys and the younger teams would get some great experience and a nice rub from these guys who've been there for 20 yrs. Plus these guys were once weird and intimidating. I bet as a team, they would be both pretty nasty, but also hilarious. What do you think?

In the name of all that is holy, NO! Goldust can actually still go, and it's a shame he didn't get his match with Cody at WrestleMania (if he is retiring soon as is the rumor). On the other hand, Kane looks slow, old, and honestly doesn't even seem like he gives a shit anymore. With each passing week, it seems like he's just going through the motions. At this point, even the mask couldn't save his career.

Only if it's done for a joke.

Kane can put the mask back on, only Goldie adds a few ... "personal touches" to make it golden and fabulous. Yes, I am proposing a Kanedust gimmick. Imagine, if you will, Kane basically turning into something out of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure only with more fire. Golden fire, even! I bet they could make the turnbuckle posts shoot some sparkly shit out of them.

The gimmick essentially revolves around Dust helping Kane get in touch with his fabulous side. They then go on to become the most glorious tag team of all time.

I found this on google to give you a rough idea:

But you know it needs some black, and some sparkly bits (if anyone's good with MS Paint...?)

As for booking, they go over absolutely every other team, because they're the older guys and need to be treated with respect, dammit! They can go to a conclusion by dropping the tag belts after a 6-month run to the Ascension, and then break up for a 1v1 blowoff match, probably as filler on one of the crappy autumnal PPVs.

They can even get a terrible mashup theme remix! Just think. It would be awesome.

Two of the last relics of the attitude era in a team would be interesting. Give Goldust something to do, he's performing the best he has in his entire career and not having him compete is a waste.

I really don't mind stooge Kane but I think we can all agree that we are tired as hell of him in the main event, especially six man tags. Comedy Kane is one of my favourite versions. The thought evokes fond memories of team hell no and Booker/Goldust.

Great idea that I think would make for some quality comedy of booked correctly. I fear that the Authority angle is far from over. I personally see it ending Summerslam at the soonest, next WrestleMania at the latest. Kane will likely remain corporate until such a time.

I just don't really see it, nor do I really see much to be gained from it. Goldust turned 46 yesterday and Kane turns 48 in about 2 weeks, but both men are still in great shape. Goldust, from a physical standpoint, is probably in better health and overall physical shape now than he was 20 years go while Kane's as muscular and fit today as he was circa 1998. So it's not that age has brought about a lack of conditioning for either of them, but it just seems like it'd be forming a tag team out of them just for the novelty of it.

The peak years of both their careers are over and I certainly don't want to see someone that's been an upper mid-card to main event mainstay like Kane for the past decade and a half finish up career as part of a forgettable tag team that's probably not going click.

As much as I like the idea of to old dogs who should already been put out to do nothing more than job, royal rumbles and battle royals as pointless punks. The idea is alright I guess.

But with a Division riddled with "Umm yeah they are alright" I think the WWE needs a new tag team people can get behind. So heels that can put people on notice.

Through out the years in the WWE and WCW there has always been a constant theme ( not all were great) European tag teams. ( Barrett and Sheamus) could fill that role nicely. There is a European tour going on right now. The down side is the Current champions are looking great and would hate to ruin Kidd, without Cesaro Kidd is lackluster and becomes no more than a fixture on Total Divas.

But in time they will break them up and a Stable of Europeans (Cesaro, Barrett, and Sheamus with a Leader like William Regal) to ban them together could do great things. Plus adding feuds with Soon to be heel New day. I know New days sucks, but having the heel beat faces and having new day make the save gets the new day face time.

As for the Big gold machine and Goldust, I have a far better place for them Legends house.

For all practical purposes, without the off again on again partnership/feud with the Undertaker, the Kane character may as well no longer be a thing. They may as well just call him Glen Jacobs, or even Issac Yankem or Diesal.

Truth be told, The Kane character's pinnacle came and went with his original feud with Taker. Next thing you know, he went from instoppable, demon, juggernaut to generic big man in the blink of an eye (no See No Evil pun intended.)

No, just no....That would turn into Wrestlecrap very quickly..Plus, there's already enough Wrestlecrap in WWE at the moment with The New Day and The Ascension. I mean, you could make the Kane/Goldust tag team in say, WWE 2k14, but as far as in real life? Fuck that...Though, the graphic of the golden Kane mask got a laugh out of me, I wouldn't wanna see it..

I never liked Kane being used as a comedy-relief character, whether it was doing Kane-a-roonies, going to "therapy", being "humanized" in the X-pac/Tori/DX storyline or otherwise..Those things fucked his character up. I mean, look at Kane now...He's a corporate shill who WWE's teasing might JUST break away from The Authority, but otherwise nothing interesting has happened to the Kane character since he last feuded with Taker back in 2010.

I always liked Kane as a monster not to be fucked with, the way he was in 97 and 98. I always thought that WWE fucked up on Kane by over-exposing him. Kane, like Big Show and Khali(when he was there) should've been featured less on the shows, wrestled less and won more matches than they lost...That way, at least the mystique would've been preserved, instead of WWE basically having nothing left for Kane at this point, besides having him being a humanized, corporate stooge.

I'd prefer not seeing that team. Storyline wise way too much would have to happen in order to get those two to become a prominent tag team. Why would the Director Of Operations who at one time had a feud with the Rhodes Family and Goldust who has just lost his brother to the dark side team up?

I understand where your coming from but if you look at the story being portrayed on TV than I think the end is almost here for Kane. It's only a matter of time until Kane is detached from the Authority and probably given a feud with the Big Show, which could possibly be his last feud.

If you want a veteran tag team than pair up Goldust with Christian.

It is believed that Christian is retired but without any legit announcement from the WWE website or someone like HHH or Christian himself..I'd believe he is still willing to wrestle.

Both men are tag team stars who have a prominent past in the division.

The booking is simple, it's a matter of mutual respect. Lets say the New Day or Ascension beat down Goldust, out comes Christian making the traditional good guy saves his buddy type of retrn. Both men join forces and take down the Ascension and say man it was fun doing that one more time and continue as a tag team. Eventually they come face to face with Cesaro/Kidd and after a back and forth feud, Cesaro/Kidd come out on top thus adding a feather to their cap.

They should actually form some legit tag teams and have them as a team for a long time, only that way the tag team division will have some depth. Having guys like PTP and New Day is fine, but the way WWE has treated them over the past few years, everyone just thinks they are a team because they couldn't do anything individually.

Goldust and Kane sounds okay.
Barrett and Sheamus should be a good team.
Jack Swagger and Ryback maybe? With Zeb Colter on their side...
They can and imo should bring back the Wyatt Family.
The Miz and R Truth reforming the Awesome Truth? Or The Miz and some NXT superstar... the Miz can have him under him kinda like what he did for Riley and Bryan, probably have him debut his tag team partner after losing to Sandow at Extreme Rules...

So there you go, Barrett & Sheamus, Swagger & Ryback, Miz & NXT superstar or Miz & Truth, Harper & Rowan, Goldust & Kane, New Day, Ascension, Lucha Dragons, PTP, The Usos and the tag team champs...

The OP is on to something brilliant here. Kane and Goldust characters... aren't too far off to put them together, and even if they were let's not forget that HurriKane was a thing, also so was Booker T & Goldust... It's not a bad idea to take two highly respected veterans that can easily play both sides of the heel/face spectrum and make them into a tag team. Nowadays, Kane and Goldust don't even need to resort to their old gimmicky theatrics because they're so genuine and unique that they will stand out. Plus, it's not like veterans haven't come to form teams in the past. JeriShow was a very intriguing tag team from start to finish. I would love to see WWE give these two a shot as a tag team. Maybe they can be used to put over PTP or other teams, while also getting one last quality run with some championship gold simultaneously.

The last thing WWE needs is another veteran tag team taking away from the young guys.

I personally just want to see Goldust fight Cody on a bigger stage like Summerslam.

As far as Kane, I'd love to see him finish his career with his mask on as a tweener.
