JR For Raw

What is so great about Jim Ross? He's much older now and it's apparent that he isn't anywhere as good as he used to be many years ago. I don't enjoy his commentating and he is very repetitive. Whenever Triple H walks down to the ring, 9 times out of 10 he says "Business just picked up, Tazz". I mean seriously, does that entertain you? It's not like commentating improves the overall show quality either. Michael Cole may be one of the most underrated commentators in WWE history. He's entertaining, and he actually puts enthusiasm in his voice and sounds like he cares about the show. Ross just sounds like it's just another day at the workplace for him.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are in my opinion, the most entertaining pair on commentary at the present moment. They seem to have fairly good chemistry, and they actually make you get more hyped up for the show you are watching, whether it be on Raw or on pay per view. Yes, they may be a little more interesting if Lawler was a heel so he could argue with Cole, and that would be pretty damn hilarious, but you can't have everything.

So I think things should stay the way they are now. JR is older, and more boring than Cole. Raw needs to move on, and I think it already has. Ross won't be around forever, and I think Cole is a worthy replacement.

Striker > Cole and Lawler....Michael Cole wouldn't be as bad if Jerry Lawler was heel. I lloved JR and Lawler back in 2003 and 2004 when Lawler was heel and Evolution was around. Cole was at his best when he had JBL and that was mainly because of JBL. Even though JR is getting on up there he is still the second best right now behind Striker. I could be this close to putting Grisham ahead of Cole but Cole's got seniority so I'll let him pass.

I will stand behind Vince's decision to bring Michael Cole over to Raw. Jim Ross was the face of Monday Night Raw for over a decade. That is more than enough time to be on a show in that position. Eventually, it becomes stale to the viewer, gives the impression that nothing ever changes on Raw, and it becomes boring.

Cole is not nearly as bad as some make him out to be. And who I attribute the people who cause the biggest fuss are JR marks, who can not accept the fact that it is time for a change and a new look to the program.

Cole does fine in his role. The bigger problem which I have yet to hear from people to any noticeable degree is Jerry Lawler, who has become completely stale as a boring Face commentator. People see JR and The King all the time, and think everything was great. However, if you analyze them both together, one can clearly see that the Lawler of today is a MAJOR snorefest on commentary, and adds very little to Raw anymore.

If it were up to me, I would have this commentary arrangement, if I have to use the same commentators they have today:

Raw
Michael Cole
Tazz

Smackdown
Jim Ross
Matt Striker

ECW
Todd Grisham
Jerry Lawler

Although, in the long run, I would like JBL to take Tazz's place on Raw, as I view Tazz as simply being average. Then, I would make a decision to either keep Tazz or Lawler on ECW, and fire the other one.

The reason the combination of King and JR was so good was because they bounce off each other so well. Back in the days when King would always favor the heel (mostly Triple H), JR would always put King in his place and some of the commentary was hilarious. It got less baised and when they are both doing normal commentary they are unbeatable as a team. They expertly called some of the WWE's greatest ever moments together.

Cole isn't as bad as many people make him out to be, but I always like the partnership of Cole and Tazz, they like JR and King, bounce off each other very well and some of the commentary was great. You almost feel like JR dosen't like working with Tazz when they are on air. Same with King and Cole.

As for Striker and Grisham... don't even get me started. The way they called Christian's return was simply dreadful. They show no excitment at all, ever. The only person thats worse than Grisham was Adamly. They are the soul reason why I rarely watch ECW.

LOL.

Adamle was the only reason I watched ECW, because he made it entertaining. You were always going to wonder what he was going to botch next, or what corny new catchphrase he would come up with.

To be honest, I almost think I would take Adamle over Grisham. I don't know if there is a bland, more boring Play by Play commentator than Todd Grisham.

And you are correct. They definitely contributed to ruining Christian's return. Put virtually no emotion into it, at all. It certainly didn't help that the fans at that show didn't seem all that thrilled either. Quite frankly, I was very disappointed with the crowd reaction.

The commentary on all four of the major brands(yes im counting TNA) has been lacking over the last year. On Raw we have Cole and Lawler. Cole has progressively gotten worse since coming over to Raw. Maybe the pressure of moving to Monday Nights is getting to him. Maybe he just clicks better with Tazz. He did an ok job at first but now its just vintage this and textbook that...I wanna scream! On Smackdown theres the team of Good Ole JR and The Tazz. JR hasn't had the spark he had on Raw since moving to Smackdown. I think he's lost some of the passion he had for the buisiness. I think moving from Raw and Jerry may have hurt his ego. I think it was more McMahon picking on him than thinking Smackdown needed JR. Oh and Tazz needs Cole as badly as Cole needs Tazz. On ECW they're are the supposed best young team in the buisiness but they really get it by default considering they're the only young team in the buisiness. I'm talking about Stryker and Grisham. Grisham is a younger Micheal Cole and I've always found Stryker boring. I liked the job he was doing at first but now he sounds like he's trying to be too scientific.(like Mike Tenay) Speaking of which TNA's announcers Don West and Mike Tenay. They just scream alot really(then again I'd scream too if I had to sit that close to a TNA event). But as far as JR going back to Raw. Yeha it might be a good thing but Vince won't admit he was wrong and he probably wants to continue to make JR's life miserable so no he won't change brands again.

Ross hasn't had the spark for a long time. Neither has Lawler. Only when he is removed from his element on Raw do people seem to take notice.

And for the record, I don't think Vince was wrong to move Ross to Smackdown. I know I am in the minority amongst the IWC opinion on that one, though. But Ross had a decade being on Raw. Cole was on Smackdown for almost as long. It was time for a facelift for both shows.

I would advocate sending Tazz over to Raw for the time being, with JBL being the Long Term replacement on Color.

I would send Striker to Smackdown to work with Ross. I think those two would work very well together. Striker puts a lot of pre-work into his broadcasts, like Ross, and I think their styles would compliment each other.

I would make the bold move of sending the worst color guy in the bizz at the moment, Jerry Lawler, over to ECW. And Grisham needs to go. I would prefer they have Joey Styles continue to commentate on ECW and oversee WWE.com, however if they don't want to have him do both, they have got to find a replacement for Grisham. Grisham is one of the Worst Play By Play guys I have ever heard.

And I will go on record and say that I would prefer listening to Mike Adamle call Play By Play, as opposed to Todd Grisham. At least Adamle sounded like he was remotely interested in calling the action.
